Chapter 47 47 - The Rating System

After waking up the next morning, Milo looked at his new class schedule and made his way to the room it was located in. When entering the room, the atmosphere was one he was not expecting, the stares he got as he entered the room and took his seat reminded him of his time as the skinny loser, he was just under a year ago at his old high school in New York. After taking his seat he scanned his eyes around the room to see what the different X ranked students looked like.

All the other X ranked students appeared to have a disinterested look after he took his seat. The majority of them were all wearing designer clothes and seemed to come from a rich background. There were only 18 students in the room aside from himself. Being X ranked was a rare occurrence and the fact that there were only 19 students total among all the first years was proof of this.

After starting the class, it seemed that the lesson they were currently going over was about Enchanted Equipment. The teacher was a young woman named Ms. Teller, she had short white hair that went down to her shoulders and had bright blue eyes.

Ms. Teller was currently going over the different ratings for equipment. "Enchanted equipment has eight different ratings depending on the level of magic stone used to create it as well as the material used. The ratings go up starting at common, then uncommon, rare, unique, heroic, legendary, mythic, and finally celestial. The rating of a piece of equipment determines how powerful the equipment is. The essence core used to create the armor can help the smith that makes the armor predict what level equipment will be made, for example when smithing with an essence core from and F ranked beast will most likely result in a piece of common rated equipment being created, however there are some exceptions to this rule."

"When it comes to equipment rating, there is a bit of a power gap between each, with the biggest gap being between mythic and celestial equipment. Due to the strength of essence core needed to create celestial rated equipment they are very rare and so far, only six pieces of celestial equipment have been created to this day. Each of the big four in the United States, as well as the GAA president have a piece of this equipment. The last piece originally belonged to one of the original gatecrashers that appeared in the world, following their retirement, the piece of equipment was placed in a museum in Toronto however following the attack from the Fellowship, its current whereabouts are unknown, it is currently believed to be in the hands of the Godfather."

After going over the level of power contained in celestial equipment, Ms. Teller pulled away a sheet that was on the table in front of her, revealing two pieces of equipment. The one was made from what looked like bone and the other seemed to be made extremely intricately and looked to be made from the scales of some beast. When using the inspect skill, Milo could tell that although the bone armor looked to be of lower quality, it was actually two whole ratings above the scaled armor.

"Now, I'd like for you to guess which of these armors has a higher rating," said Ms. Teller

A student a few rows behind Milo began to speak up, "It's obviously the sca-"

"It's the bone looking armor," Milo blurted out, interrupting the student behind him.

"That is actually correct," Ms. Teller said, surprised by the correct guess, "although next time maybe wait your turn to speak, Mr… Fenix," she said after checking Milo's name on her attendance sheet.

Milo was a bit embarrassed, scratching the back of his head bashfully. What he didn't feel was the eyes of the student he interrupted burning two holes into the back of his head.
