Chapter 50 50 - Sparring Again
After eating their food, Milo and Zach returned to campus and returned to their dorms. Milo and Zach parted ways in the lobby of the dorm building after saving eachother's contact info into their holos. After returning to his room, Chris and Mark were talking about the day, when seeing Milo walk in, they were curious about him returning late before explaining that he met a kid in the X ranked class and was out with him.
After talking about the happenings in the X ranked combat class. Chris and Mark were worried for Milo, he was in new territory and was being targeted by someone who was supposed to be from a rich and powerful family. If he wasn't careful he could get into deep trouble.
After expressing their worries, Milo said not to worry, as Mikael said that he would keep him safe until they learned not to mess with him. When hearing this, their hearts were settled, while this wasn't exactly what Mikael had promised Milo he didn't want them getting into a fight with students ranked much higher than them for his sake. He wouldn't let them get hurt.
After talking some more, the three crashed for the night to make sure they got enough sleep for classes tomorrow. When waking up the next morning they all headed off for their classes. When walking into his homeroom class, Milo made his way over to Zach and sat down.
"Good morning," Milo said.
Zach returned the greeting and just as Ms. Teller was entering the room, Milo felt a piece of paper hit him in the back of the head. He turned around to see the student from combat training pretending to mind his own business acting as if he hadn't just thrown the balled up paper at Milo.
Milo swallowed his annoyance and sat through the class. The student who was trying to get a reaction out of him was very bad at answering questions, speed wasn't everything when your answer was wrong and this student was a prime example. After the lecture had ended, Milo and Zach made their way to the practical training hall, after changing, Milo and Zach headed to the hall where they'd be training.
Milo was surprised to see Mikael standing at the center of the room, as it turned out, the X ranked students were trained in both their combat training as well as their practical ability training by Mikael. After the rest of the X ranked students had gathered, Mikael announced what they would be doing, and hearing it, Milo was pleased to hear that for practical training that day they'd be sparring, and Milo knew who he'd be asking for a fight.
After announcing that Zach would be allowed to sit out due to him being unable to showcase his ability, he allowed the students to seek out an opponent. Milo didn't have to move, as the student who had been trying to piss him off had found him himself.
After all the matches had been decided, Mikael had put out the order, Milo and the student whose name was Corey would be the last sparring match of the day. After the first eight matches had concluded, the other students took seats in the stands along with Zach. After taking their positions across from each other, Mikael called the start of the match.
As soon as the match was called, Corey tried to use his ability to shoot a blast of wind towards Milo who avoided it easily. Milo began to walk forward after starting to activate his ability, the student continued firing off blasts of wind, but every time they got near, Milo would throw up a wall of ice blocking the attacks. Eventually Corey did something that would prove to be annoying for Milo. By controlling the currents of the wind around him, Corey rose into the air essentially flying. This took extreme concentration on Corey's part and because of this, the blasts of wind being thrown towards Milo began to slow down.
While floating in the air Corey thought Milo would be unable to touch him, and when Milo threw up a thick dome of ice he laughed thinking he had the win in the bag. While above Milo, Corey couldn't see anything that Milo was doing below the dome. Eventually after throwing a few wind blasts a crack could be seen in the dome.
"There's nowhere you can run to Milo, I'm finally gonna get you back for embarrassing me yesterday," Corey shouted.
Milo simply responded with, "are you sure about that."
After the dome finally came down, Milo was standing where it once was surrounded by three menacing spears of ice rotating around him. Due to concentrating on flying, Corey was unable to throw a wind blast at Milo before all three spears were sent speeding towards him, due to the fear of the three spears connecting, Corey lost concentration and began falling to the ground. Corey threw up a quick wind blast below him to prevent himself from slamming into the ground and came to a landing, but before he could react, Milo had appeared by his side and put his hand on his shoulder, turning Corey into a human popsicle, leaving only his head unfrozen.
Milo turned and began walking towards his class, "Why don't you chill out there for a bit."
