Chapter 61 60 - Zach’s Ability

After cutting down the giant bird, everyone on the team aside from Maria who seemed to still be in shock from almost dying, was jumping up and down in excitement from clearing their first gate. The group then went around looting whatever they could find.

Milo made his way over to the body of the giant bird and looted what he could, after obtaining the unique essence core, he also was given eight talons and a few dozen feathers by the system. He also received another level up for defeating the thunder hawk. After looting the corpse of the boss Milo made his way over to check out the strange bone pile the bird was sleeping on.

When climbing the small pile he found an indent in the center and resting in the middle was a strange oval. When activating his inspect skill, he recalled another screen he had seen earlier.

[Beast Egg]

Species: Thunder Hawk

Status: Healthy (close to hatching)

[clear]

When reading the description of what the item was, Milo immediately recalled a friend who would be able to use it.

"Zach! Get over here!" He shouted.

Zach then made his way up the bone pile and asked Milo why he wanted him to climb up there. Milo didn't say anything and simply pointed at the egg. Zach was speechless, he couldn't use his ability previously because of how rare eggs were. He walked up to the egg and placed his hand on it. Zach's ability was called beast tamer, and as its name implies, it allows him to tame a beast and become its master. Once a beast became tamed it was like a super powered pet, the ability was super rare and required a lot of training for it to be powerful. The main downside of the ability was that a beast needed to be raised from a young age, and as beast eggs were expensive, unless you had a powerful backing it was hard to train the ability.

There were very rare cases where gatecrashers would even tame beasts without the ability, but these cases were very rare, and oftentimes it only worked for lower tier beasts, which made them less useful as one ranked up. With Zach's ability however, he would be able to tame as many beasts as he could and he would be able to tame much higher tiered beasts than those that did it without the ability.

When Milo first saw Zach's ability in practical training, he wanted to plunder it but the clear condition required him to assist Zach in finding a beast to tame, which meant he needed to help Zach get his hands on an egg. Once Zach placed his hand on the egg and activated his ability he would form a link with the egg and the beast growing inside it. When this happened, the icon above Zach's head turned green.

Milo activated his plunder ability at that moment. Chains snaked out of his arms and wrapped around Zach before disappearing inside him, and just like everyone else he'd used it on, Zach didn't notice.

Once the ability was finished copying, the group finished looting everything and left the gate. Once back outside, the loot was distributed and Milo and the rest of the group were paid for closing the gate.

Milo had been paid 2,000 credits, which was the standard pay for closing an E rank gate and was a huge pay day for a student. Along with this, his cut of the loot included the unique ranked essence core from the boss which he killed, one of the uncommon essence cores, ten common cores, and some of the beast parts.

He was worried his teammates might think this was unfair that he was getting such a huge cut but they acknowledged that without Milo, clearing the gate would've been much more difficult. Maria didn't really have an opinion and still seemed daze from her brush with death.

After everything was done, the group returned to the school to rest, and Milo went up to his room to get some privacy for a session of absorbing essence cores.
