Chapter 133 131 - The Beast Tamer
Zach and Milo met up outside the dorms and made their way up to Milo's room. When they were outside, Milo could hear the sound of the TV from outside the door. He had left it on for Alucard who only agreed to stay in the room if Milo allowed him to watch TV. When he opened the door, Zach was visibly confused as to why the TV was playing, and when the door was opened, he wasn't sure what to expect.
When the two entered, Milo set his bag down and Zach took in the view of the room. On the bed, he could see a coiled up snake, the snake was staring intently at the screen that was showing a drama of some kind. At first he thought it was a normal snake and thought that maybe Milo had brought a pet to school with him. That was until the snake suddenly moved and blood red feathers could be seen sprouting from the snake's back. When he noticed this physical trait of the snake he turned to Milo with wide eyes.
"I'd like for you to meet Alucard, my tamed beast," Milo said aloud.
Seeing that he had visitors, Alucard turned to see his master and someone who appeared to be a friend of his. He stretched his wings, before flying over to Milo's side to see who he had brought with him. The person seemed to be in shock for a second before the two began to speak some more.
"Where'd you get another egg?" Zach asked Milo. He knew Milo was on a strike squad, but eggs were extremely rare, and no person had ever been recorded to have found two eggs since the dimensional doors had opened. Milo explained about the Underground and his gambling he did in order to win Alucard's egg. He was very fortunate to have had the chance to win the egg. Not only were eggs rare, but very few were of a high tier. Zach knew that people tamed beasts even without the Beast Tamer ability as well which made him oblivious to Milo's system.
"What species is he?" Zach asked. Being someone with the Beast Tamer ability, he was very knowledgeable about beasts and the variety of known species. He didn't think that Alucard was a very high tier beast, and none of the lower tiered beasts that he knew of had an appearance quite like Alucard did. Milo told him that he was a Crimson Wing Spiny Viper, causing Zach's jaw to drop. Hearing the name of the species, Zach had heard of them before, they were very intelligent beasts and were of the Legendary Tier. When compared to Waki who was a Unique ranked beast, Alucard would be incomparably powerful once full grown. Along with this his species had many powerful abilities that could weaken a target.
Zach got close and began to inspect Alucard, looking at his wings, his eyes, his tail. He was going over everything about Alucard, Zach was truly fascinated by beasts and it was easily seen by how he looked over Alucard.
"Has he made any progress towards his progression?" Zach asked?
Milo had a curious look on his face, "Progression? What's that?" Milo asked. Zach explained it as a way for beasts to increase their tier. The more Magic Power they accumulated, they would go through an evolution of sorts. It was a phenomenon only seen in tamed beasts that allowed them to increase their combat power. When they increased their tier, there was also a chance that the beast could evolve and develop new skills and such as well.
Milo had never heard of this before, but hearing the explanation he checked with the system to see if it had any hints. Navi's voice could then be heard explaining that by allowing Alucard to absorb essence cores, it would allow him to increase his magic power stat and at certain checkpoints, like with when Milo revealed new system skills, it would allow Alucard to progress in tier. Zach then went on to explain that because of how expensive essence cores were he had gotten Waki a few but not enough to progress. Milo then remembered he had some from the Atlantic City trip during the summer, maybe he could help both Waki and Alucard make some progress towards evolving.
Zach then asked Milo if he wanted to see Waki, it had been a whole summer since Milo had seen Zach's tamed beast, and Milo wanted to see just how much the Thunder Hawk had grown. Milo was part of the reason that Zach had tamed Waki, as he was the one who originally discovered the egg in the gate they had closed as part of their in-field experience during their first year at the academy. Milo agreed to seeing Waki but first showed Zach the Beast Vessel Ring he used to transport Alucard. Zach had only used a Tethering Bracelet that acted as a leash for Waki, but with a Beast Vessel ring it would allow him to go out in public without having to deal with people wanting to interact with Waki, who pulled in quite a lot of attention from people.
Zach was fascinated by the ring, it was something that would be a great investment one day but first he wanted to help Waki progress to the next tier. After showing Zach Alucard and the Beast Vessel Ring, he was happy to see that Zach was coming more and more out of the shell he was in when Milo had originally met him. When the pair first met, Zach was being bullied due to his inability to use his ability without a beast egg, but ever since meeting Milo, he was becoming more and more confident in himself, and was even becoming more and more popular with the help of Waki, who was quite popular with the students at the school.
The two of them then made their way to Zach's room. Like Milo, Zach decided to keep Waki in his room for similar reasons as Milo. Eventually the pair made it to their destination and they could hear loud noises coming from inside Zach's room. The two friends looked at each other with a bit of worry, Zach looked especially worried as he knew how rowdy Waki could get. When entering the room, it looked like a storm had blown through Zach's room. There was food all over the floor, blankets and pillows from the bed were strewn about and some of Waki's feather's could be seen on the floor. Waki, who had heard the door opening, appeared to be trying to hide. He had his head under part of a blanket but his body could still clearly be seen under where the blanket ended.
"Waki! I thought I told you to behave yourself while I was gone, now I have to clean up this huge mess you made," Zach said a bit dejectedly. Hearing his master say his name, Waki peeked out from under the blanket. Milo activated his Beast Lord ability to read Waki's thoughts.
"I got hungry and the food bag was too hard to open," he could hear Waki thinking. Waki had grown in size by quite a bit, he now stood around 22 inches tall, the gold flecks in his feathers were now more pronounced and the yellow markings on his tail now resembled a lightning bolt. He had grown up resembling an adult hawk in size, but he still had the mentality of a child, and was still as gluttonous as ever. Milo chuckled a bit to himself before assisting Zach in picking up the mess Waki had made when trying to get to his food.
Eventually the room was looking back to normal, Waki had helped as much as he could, picking up pillows and blankets and moving them up to the bed. Once they were done, Waki hopped over to Milo's side and brushed his head against him; he still recognized Milo from the previous school year and seemed to like him the most out of all of their friends. Milo told Waki that he had someone for him to meet, Alucard was in the Beast Vessel ring witnessing everything that was going on, and could see the bird who seemed to like his master.
Waki seemed confused by what Milo was saying, and tilted his head to the side wondering what Milo meant as he couldn't see anyone or anything new for him to meet. Milo then said "release" and the Beast Vessel ring gave off a slight glow before Alucard materialized on the bed next to Waki and Milo. Waki jumped up in shock and flew over to Zach's side, surprised by the sudden light the ring gave off. Once Alucard had finished being freed from the pocket dimension, he took in the room around him and noticed the other beast in the room.
Milo could hear the confusion in the two beasts' heads using the Beast Lord ability and introduced the two to each other, after the introduction, the two tames sat facing each other on the bed checking each other out. The two were silent for a few seconds as they observed the other's movement. Eventually Waki was the first to move, he spread his black and gold feathered wings, Alucard mirrored the motion, spreading his crimson wings as well. Seeing that they both had wings, Waki hopped up and down in excitement for a second before wrapping his wings around Alucard. Alucard's eyes widened in surprise and looked at his master who was laughing hysterically, asking him for help.
"Seems like they get along," Zach said smiling. Milo was still laughing from the thoughts that he could hear Waki thinking.
As soon as they presented their wings to each other, with the Beast Lord ability active, he could hear Waki exclaim, "Brother!" Before he embraced Alucard with his wings, once Waki had done this he could hear Alucard was saying, "Master, please free me from this bird's grip, he is too close."
