Chapter 31.2 – I’m Not Afraid of Trouble (2)

Qi Bo looked at his back and sighed, and finally did not go to Lu Qicheng’s courtyard.

Lu Qipei had not seen Qi Yang for several days. Although they had been separated for longer before she entered Hanlin Academy, back then she was more preoccupied with the uncertain future. But now, Qi Yang was the one occupying her whole mind.

Because she had something to look forward to, Lu Qipei was in a very good mood. She even dressed up a bit before going out today, something that she rarely did.

Unfortunately, no matter how good her mood was, it was inevitable greatly reduced after all that farce that happened when she went out.

So when Qi Yang saw her again, it wasn’t difficult for the former to see the worry and anxiety hidden under the latter’s smile.

From Qi Yang’s point of view, since the two have exchanged their feelings, there was nothing that they couldn’t tell each other. So she took Lu Qipei’s hand with one hand, and put her other hand on the corner of her lips, pretending to be dissatisfied. “Don’t smile if you don’t want to smile. Is it such a trouble for you to come and see me?”

Hearing this, Lu Qipei quickly tried to explain. “How could that be? I couldn’t wait to see you…”

Halfway through saying that, she saw Qi Yang’s smile suddenly bloom, so brilliant and dazzling that it made her blush. The shy Lu Qipei was unable to continue, she stuttered and didn’t know if she should finish saying what she wanted to say. Well, Qi Yang wasn’t listening anyways.

Qi Yang liked teasing Lu Qipei and watching her blush, but she was also very concerned about the important business – she had always remembered that the biggest problem in the two’s relationship wasn’t their feelings, but obstruction and undermining from external forces.

So after raising her eyebrows and smiling, she still didn’t let go of her previous question and asked again, “So what’s wrong with you? Your smile today is a bit strained. Since it’s not because you don’t want to see me, then what is it?”

Lu Qipei was somewhat helpless against the little princess’s inquisitiveness, and she couldn’t just say something random to appease her. However, she didn’t want to tell her about those shady and sinister things, including how she ruthlessly went after her own brother.

Silence spread for a while, and Lu Qipei even glanced sideways to avoid Qi Yang’s gaze.

Qi Yang had come up with some guess. She was far sharper than Lu Qipei imagined, and she also had hidden guards helping her collect information.

But these were something she did secretly, and it wasn’t easy for Qi Yang to tell Lu Qipei about it clearly, to prevent a misunderstanding between them.

Finally, Qi Yang figured out how to say it. She grabbed Lu Qipei’s sleeve and tactfully said, “Did something happen in your family? I heard you say before that there’s only one little brother in your family. If you’re uncomfortable living at home, how about moving to my courtyard?”

That was really an understatement. Lu Qipei was not just uncomfortable living in that house; the siblings’ relationship had gone far beyond ordinary sibling altercation. They were really like fire and water, aiming at each other’s lives…

Qi Yang was also surprised. Based on her previous understanding of Lu Qipei, she was a gentle and soft person, not someone capable of such ruthless means.

A thought flashed through her mind in a trance, but unfortunately Qi Yang still couldn’t grasp it.

Lu Qipei didn’t want her to say that either – she was a little stunned and immediately shook her head, saying with a smile, “Your Highness is too kind. It would be unnecessary.”

She still hadn’t sorted out the mess in the Lu family. She always felt that there was some danger behind it – how could she drag Qi Yang down with her again?

Qi Yang might be in a hurry to marry, but Lu Qipei wasn’t; at least not when Lu Qicheng was still alive!

As for her own safety, Lu Qipei already had some calculations in her heart. She really was caught off-guard with the poisoning attempt last time, but only Lu Qicheng, who was overwhelmed by jealousy, would do such a reckless thing.

Now that he was no longer a threat, she wouldn’t need to worry about Qi Bo and the rest…

Qi Bo was the Lu Mansion’s butler, but that was not all there was to him. If Lu Qipei had to say, he was more like a supervisor, someone who oversaw the businesses left by the Lu family, as well as supervising the Lu family’s two little masters.

Was he loyal? Maybe, but anyways this loyalty was not directed towards her. As for whether this loyalty belonged to Lu Qicheng, Lu Qipei didn’t know. That might have been the case in her previous life, but it was not so certain now.

His personality flaws had been exposed, and there was a problem with his body. Was such a Young Lord still worthy of his loyalty? If the Lu family was just an ordinary wealthy family, it might not be a problem. But what if it wasn’t?

Lu Qipei had never been able to see through the depth of the Lu family and Qi Bo, and even Lu Qicheng. But it didn’t matter. She had already broken the plan, and taken the most important part away. As for how things will develop next, she would just wait and see!

A rare fighting spirit appeared within her clear eyes – the determination to protect a certain someone and walk hand-in-hand with her.

In a trance, Qi Yang came to understand something, and her heart softened. She raised her arms to embrace the person in front of her and whispered in her ears, “If you run into trouble, you must let me know. I’m a princess, I’m not afraid of trouble.”

Lu Qipei returned her embrace. She smiled softly and replied, “Alright.”
