Chapter 110.1 – Have You Laughed Enough!?

Qi Yang and her companions traveled for a whole day when they went to the hunting ground, but due to the Emperor’s request, their return journey was much faster.

Even so, by the time Lu Qipei and Qi Yang returned to the princess’s mansion, the sky was already dark. But because they returned earlier than expected, the people of the princess’s mansion were caught off unprepared, and the quiet princess’s mansion was brought back to life again.

After traveling for half a day, Lu Qipei and Qi Yang were also a bit tired. Qi Yang even sighed to Lu Qipei, “This trip has been really frustrating. If we had known it earlier, we might as well stay at home for a few days.”

Lu Qipei knew that she was just saying that, so she just smiled and didn’t concur with her. She casually pulled Qi Yang to sit by her side and helped massage her shoulders and back. Her Royal Highness The Princess enjoyed it very much.

In fact, the return journey had been too fast, and she was bumped around so much in the carriage. Her Royal Highness The Princess, who had never suffered much in her life, felt as if her bones were going to break. Lu Qipei’s massage came at just the right time.

As Zhi Ting ordered people to tidy up the house, she saw the two’s intimate look, and a smile unknowingly bloomed on her face. She took two steps towards Qi Yang and softly asked, “Your Highness, you didn’t eat lunch nor dinner. Should we ask the chef to bring some food now?”

Qi Yang didn’t feel it before, but now that Zhi Ting mentioned it, she really did feel a bit hungry. It’s not that she didn’t eat anything – in fact, most of the jerky on the plate had entered her stomach, but just eating snacks couldn’t make people feel full. It was also getting late now, so she ordered, “Go, and also prepare a couple more dishes that the Prince Consort likes.”

Zhi Ting smiled and acknowledged it when she heard those words, then turned her head and ordered the people to make preparations.

The princess’s mansion kitchen moved quickly. Although they didn’t know that the two of them would return and did not have much prepared, as soon as the Princess and her prince consort returned, the previously extinguished stove was lit again. Just fifteen minutes after Zhi Ting gave the order, the food were brought in one after the other.

Qi Yang hadn’t had a good meal all day, and when she smelled the aroma of the food, she became really hungry. She immediately took Lu Qipei to the table to eat. Maybe they hunted too many preys in the hunting ground before, and there was still some fresh meat left to bring back after turning some into jerky, because several dishes made of game meat appeared on the dinner table. After being cooked carefully, they tasted different compared to the jerkies.

Most of the chefs in the princess’s mansion were brought from the royal palace, and their skills had always been top notch. Qi Yang and Lu Qipei both really enjoyed their food. And before they could finish eating, Lu Sheng had already heard news of their return from somewhere and ran over.

After not seeing her for two to three days, the little dumpling still looked the same as ever. She ran excitedly, not wanting to be carried, and struggled to climb over the door threshold. When she got in front of the two of them, her eyes were shining with obvious anticipation.

But her habitual well-behavior prevented her from openly asking for her gift. She first greeted the two of them obediently, then continued looking at them with that hopeful gaze.

Qi Yang’s heart turned somewhat soft when faced with Lu Sheng’s gaze. She thought for a moment, then slightly turned her gaze to a dish on the table. She reached out and gave it to Lu Sheng, saying, “Ah Sheng, do you want to try it?”

Of course a three-year-old child could eat meat. Although Lu Sheng was a bit confused when she heard it, her habitual obedience made her follow Qi Yang’s proposal. After nodding, she let Qi Yang pick up a piece of meat and feed it to her.

Qi Yang couldn’t help but smile and asked, “Is the meat delicious?”

The little dumpling nodded obediently and replied with a milky voice, “It’s delicious. Thank you, Your Highness.”

Hearing this thank you, Qi Yang was almost at a loss on what to say next, but in the end she said, “This is rabbit meat. I promised to give you a rabbit before I set off for the hunting ground…”

Lu Sheng was still young, but that didn’t mean that she couldn’t understand Qi Yang’s words – Her Royal Highness The Princess turned the rabbit into rabbit meat and gave it to her. It was not a fluffy and bouncy little rabbit, completely different from her expectations!

The little dumpling felt as if the sky was going to collapse, and tears quickly welled up in her eyes as her face crumpled. But maybe because she was used to keeping things to herself, she didn’t cry like other children her age would, just pursing her lips and wrinkling her face as tears streamed down her face. Her expression as she held back her grief was very heartbreaking.

Qi Yang was a bit at a loss. She quickly put down the plate and picked up the child, but didn’t know how to coax her. She felt like her head was going to explode.

She instinctively wanted to seek help from Lu Qipei, but only when she turned her gaze did she realize that the person was burying her head down, as if she was struggling to suppress her laugh.

This was really… making people angry and annoyed!

Her Royal Highness The Princess had no choice but to pat her on the arm and say, “Hey, have you laughed enough, coax Ah Sheng!”

Lu Qipei reluctantly suppressed her laugh, but the corners of her mouth were still slightly raised, and the corners of her eyes were still tinged with a faint smile. “I told Your Highness before that this is not feasible, and you still didn’t believe me.”

Qi Yang also didn’t believe it, but she didn’t have any other choice, right? The Emperor had ordered everyone to leave; could she still go back to the hunting ground to catch rabbits for Lu Sheng? Otherwise, she would go for the second-best thing and have people go to the market to buy some, but there was no place that sold them this late at night.

Unfortunately, Lu Sheng came so quickly that she didn’t even have time to have her men look elsewhere. If she didn’t fool her with the rabbit meat, wouldn’t that mean she was breaking her promise?

Of course she couldn’t break her promise. Her Royal Highness The Princess’s pride made it impossible for her to do such a thing. Plus, breaking a promise to a child was bad. She thought that it wouldn’t be a big deal to fool her with rabbit meat tonight, and tomorrow she would send someone to get a live rabbit to compensate her.

Lu Sheng, who had always been well-behaved and never cried, cried this time and cried like she was wronged so much that it really made people feel at a loss.

Qi Yang coaxed the child with a few words, but it was useless. She had never coaxed a child before, and her previous self-righteous attempt at deception was clearly a failure. Finally, Lu Qipei picked up the small dumpling and turned her head, giving a glance to the maid next to her before coaxing the child, “Alright, alright, don’t cry. Her Highness is just joking with you.”
