235 Keeping secrets

On the weekends Amy often would find herself doing nothing these days. She was too afraid to go out on her own ever since the Grey Elephants incident, and even if she wanted to, who could she go with. When thinking about this, her heart just sank deeper.

Today was just one of those days where Amy felt like her life was cursed. Even more than usual. Her eyes were puffy and slightly sore underneath due to how much she had been rubbing them, and she had nearly emptied out the box of tissues on the table.

‘Ah damn…Gary is going to get annoyed at me for wasting this many tissues.’ Amy thought, looking at the box. Imagining his angry reaction she couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought. Thinking about her brother was the only thing that cheered her up somewhat.

‘Where did Gary even go? And it was the first time he asked about Stacy since then. Now she’s..she’s dead.’ Thinking about the dead, naturally made her think about blood. This led to all her brother's strange actions. She wanted to shake the thought out of her head, but at the end of the day, every day Amy would stare at the wardrobe in their room, where the clothes had been left.

‘Why didn’t he bury them or burn them by now? Did he keep them here because he wanted me to know?’ She sulked feeling like this heavy burden of keeping a secret was with her. Weighing her down on top of everything else.

At that point, Amy had gotten up and grabbed her phone. Perhaps it was because she was trying to keep her mind off Stacy's death but her mind was now filled with Gary. She wanted to know what had happened that day. She wasn’t going to get involved and knowing the truth wasn’t going to change her opinion of her brother, but while he was doing all this stuff she just wanted to know the truth.

‘Besides, knowing him if he’s doing crazy things to try and cover this all up, he’s just going to get in more trouble. I have to help my brother out!’ She thought.

Scrolling through her contacts list there was one person who she thought might have an idea of what Gary had been up to, or perhaps even knew the truth. Someone who was as close to Gary as her. She wasn’t in a waiting mood though, so rather than send a text she had decided to give a call instead.

After a few rings, the other side had picked up.

“Amy! It is Amy right, is something up with Gary! Did something happen to him? He’s okay and not hurt right, and he didn’t try to hurt you or anything. Amy, talk to me!”

Pulling the phone away from her head, she switched the phone to loud speaker, although it sounded like it was already on loud speaker based on how loud Tom was shouting at the other end.

“What are you talking about Tom,” Amy replied. “Gary came back fine yesterday…and why would he ever hurt me?”

There was silence on the other end, which gave Amy time to think about what Tom just had said. Clearly, he was acting strange and panicked.

‘It looks like he really does know something.’

The reason why Tom was worried and over the top was due to receiving no news from Gary. After the strange events at school, he could see the look on Gary’s face. It was as if he planned to raid the red colour gang.

Tom already had his suspicions that Gary was behind the Grey colour gang attack, and with it getting closer to the next full moon, he believed that perhaps Gary was letting a certain side of his take over again.

“Sorry, just a lot of stuff happened at school yesterday. That’s all, it’s still all fresh in my head and I was worried about that hot-headed brother of yours. Anyway, how are you holding up, are you okay?” Tom asked, soon realising he was talking to his best friend's sister, who he really had ever talked to before.

‘Damn it, he’s changing the subject. How do I get him to talk about Gary again?’

“Yeah I’m okay, but Gary has been acting weird lately. He’s been going out a lot and coming back late. It’s almost as if he’s running away from something. I was wondering, do you know anything about him, something that he might be hiding perhaps?” Amy asked, but when she said the last few words her tone of voice was indicating that she already knew what he was hiding.

‘Does she know…she clearly knows something, but how the hell does she know that Gary Is a Werewolf.’ Tom panicked and didn’t say anything, which on the other end only made the other person more suspicious.

“So it looks like you do know.” Amy finally said. “I found some things Tom, and I really don’t know how to deal with it. Gary doesn’t know that I know…but I just don’t know what to do about it…” Suddenly, Amy started sobbing on the other end of the phone and Tom couldn’t help but feel hurt.

His sister was a pure person, who always helped Gary no matter what and lived a troubled life, and now carrying the secret that he was a Werewolf with her must have been crushing her inside. Which led Tom to only one conclusion to get over this problem.

“Why don’t we go see Gary and ask him,” Tom said. “If you already know about it, then there is nothing to hide, right? He should be the one to tell you. Then when you let it all out it will make you feel a lot better. Besides, hearing it from him and hearing everything from him then there won’t be a chance for any misunderstandings.”

The truth was, Tom also wanted to ask Gary some questions. Whether he was the one behind the other attacks, and what exactly he had gone to do yesterday. It was just Gary could be scary at times, and he thought that his little sister would be the backup that he would need.

“Okay.” Amy sniffled. “But Gary isn’t even here, and I don’t know when he will be back.”

“I think I know where he might be, there’s a place that he works at called the Wolf’s pool club. Even if he’s not there, there are some people there that we might be able to ask and find out what exactly is going on.”

With a plan agreed between the two of them, the call ended there. Tom held his phone for a second in his hand, as his face started to feel a little hot. Looking in the mirror he could see his cheeks blushing.

‘I’m going out, with just me and Amy…I mean she’s only one year younger than me that’s alright, right? But then again her brother is Gary…if I did something to upset her.’

An image appeared in Tom’s head of Gary transforming and almost biting his head off there and then. Shaking that thought off, he realised he was only going to help her; it wasn't a date.

‘Right, I better wear my best clothes.’ It wasn’t a date repeated in his mind.

Eventually, Tom turned up at Amy’s house, and looking through the peephole she confirmed it was him.

“What are you wearing?” Was Amy’s first question as she looked at the boy in front of her that was wearing something that resembled a suit and even had a tie on. “You look like you're going for a job interview.”

Embarrassed, Tom quickly undid his tie and placed it in his pocket.

“That’s right, I forgot about the clothes I was wearing, I just had an intern interview at my dad’s place..ah so embarrassing,” Tom said scratching his head.

Closing the door behind her, the two of them set off, and after walking for a while it wasn’t long until they both eventually stood in front of the place known as the Wolf’s pool club.

“So this is the place where Gary has been working and earning money?” Amy asked.

“Yeah…let’s go find out what secrets your brother has been keeping,” Tom said walking forward.
