CH 398

My name is Lu Zijin, and I am twenty-five years old and homeless.

I wasn’t like this five years ago.

I didn’t have this greasy, dirty, and messy long hair five years ago, I didn’t wear these shabby but still neat clothes, and I didn’t eat steamed buns for one yuan that didn’t have any oil or water.

But, as I previously stated, that was five years ago.

Five years ago, everything seemed like a dream to me.

The 24-hour bookstore is the only thing that reminds me that this is not a dream but a reality.

I had no idea bookstores were still open 24 hours a day.

I used to think bookstores were decorated differently, artistically, and only open for eight hours a day.

But I’m not sure it can stay open 24 hours a day like a convenience store.

Later, I discovered that the nature of bookstores and convenience stores is identical.

The difference is that one fills the stomach while the other fills the spirit.

In the beginning, it was not that I did not dislike this 24-hour bookstore.

It lacks a soft sofa and even a stool.

You can only read a book if you stand, lean against a wall, or sit directly on the ground.

Honestly, I cannot accept it as someone who has received a good education.

As a result, I discovered many other bookstores throughout the city.

It’s either not open 24 hours a day or dislikes me because I’m homeless.

I eventually returned to this bookstore after going around.

And it is five years at a glance.

I usually wanted to go to the bookstore late at night to read books all night. I noticed that I went out early in the morning to buy a steamed bun and ate it while walking. I had just finished eating when I arrived at the bridge hole and slept.

A middle-aged woman, however, stopped me.

It’s not the first time I’ve seen her mocking eyes and snide remarks.

I lowered my head and let her scold me, ready to go in when she was tired of scolding me.

I have plenty of time.

Then a beautiful woman appeared at that time.

She rudely confronted the middle-aged woman making the middle-aged woman run away.

This is the first time I’ve seen a woman so unconcerned about her appearance and the first time I’ve seen such a beautiful woman.

But who cares?

What does it have to do with me?

I could easily enter the bookstore without being obstructed by the middle-aged woman.

I expected everything to be the same as before.

However, the woman approached me.

She struck up a conversation with me, saying she had no idea where I was reading and asking my name.

She is quite distinct from other women.

Almost all young women have frowned and backed away unconsciously after seeing me in the last five years.

As if there were a curse on me.

She, however, did not.

But I’m still uninterested in her.

I don’t want to communicate with anyone, not even angels.

But she did buy all of the books I read.

This woman… what did she see in me?

If I didn’t accompany her, she threatened to never let me see these books again.

No, I must read the book; otherwise, how can there be revenge?

So I boarded a pirate ship called Bing Ning and haven’t been able to get off since.

Until she died, I saw her cremation, and I put the necklace around my neck.

I looked down at the necklace’s gleaming “diamond.”

Another five years later.

Bing Ning has not been seen in five years.

Countless people have asked me where I got the “diamond” that hangs on this necklace over the last five years.
