Volume 4 - CH 45.1

Saying Hello

“Um, what the hell is wrong with this situation?”

I was groaning with my head in my hands, not understanding the situation in front of me.

I wondered who could have predicted such a thing to happen.

“Yup, I don’t get it either…”

Hishinuma-san, who was sitting next to me, also gave me an earful with a troubled look on her face.

In front of us, a pair of men and women were sitting in the same way.

“Hmm, are you Hanarei’s boyfriend?”

“Yes, I guess so. He’s a pretty handsome guy, and Hanarei seems to do pretty well.”

The pair of men and women were Hishinuma-san’s parents.

Yes, I had come to her parent’s house to greet them as Hishinuma-san’s boyfriend.

I don’t know how this happened, but it goes back to about a week ago now.

“Eh?…? What did you just say?”

During my part-time job, Hishinuma-san, who works the same shift as me, gave me a shocking word that made my eyes widen.

“That’s why, I want you to come to …my parent’s house to say hello!”

Hishinuma-san told me that her parents were worried for her because she hadn’t even had a boyfriend until now, so they arranged a blind date for her.

The other party seemed to be the son of a listed company, a man with a good personality and a handsome face.

However, Hishinuma-san was not so keen on getting married to that guy, and when she tried to refuse, she ended up saying that she had found herself a boyfriend.

It seems that her parents were deeply relieved by her words and told her to come with her boyfriend to say hello.

“…So why me?” I asked.

“Um, I can’t help it. You’re my boyfriend, after all. … And I’m telling the truth.”

“Why didn’t you just refuse them?”

“I can’t do that! It was the first time in my life that I saw them cry in so much joy like that…”

Apparently, her parents seemed to be good people who love their daughter very much.

But even though we’re still dating, I’m not sure if it’s right for me to go and greet her parents.

I don’t have any romantic feelings towards her yet, and we’re in a relationship based on a sense of responsibility.

With such a flimsy relationship, it’s hard for me to go and meet her parents, who are probably looking forward to it.

“Okay, Leave it to me.”

“Ho, really…!?”

“Yes, I’ll find a man who can be a better and more respectable boyfriend than I am.”

“I’m asking you to do it! Also, I’m neither looking for matchmaking!”

Today, I received another pleasant surprise!

Aside from joking, it’s indeed a bad situation.

I thought, what if they find out that we have a temporary relationship?

Rather, I feel uncomfortable to go to her parents with such a relationship, it’s like I’m deceiving them.

“It seems like you both are talking about something interesting, aren’t you?”

“Oh, manager!”

“Thanks for your hard work, manager.”

The person who interrupted our conversation was Daigo Kurusu, our boss, who was also  a relative of Moe-san’s.

I left Mone-san in his care, but I wonder what really happened to her.

Since then, Mone-san hasn’t been barging into the store or getting involved with me more than necessary at the university, which has been a big help, but I’m still very curious about what he did.

But my instincts told me not to ask.
