Chapter 37 - Saber

Platinum-coloured armour with crimson touches, a striking silver helmet with horns that accompanies the armour. The knight is kneeling on the ground, prostrating himself before me.

This is my Servant. I am surprised.

And my surprise comes because I can't see his name, and I can't see his Noble Phantasm.

This is all I can see.

He's my own Servant, and I can't see his statistics.

Fortunately, I can recognize him, and I know who he is. More specifically, who she is.

The knight stands up, and the helmet that was covering the knight's head moves back and hides inside the armour.

She is beautiful!

Medium-long blond hair tied in a ponytail, crystalline blue eyes and a beautiful face.

"My name is Mordred! The one and only legitimate successor to Arthur Pendragon, the King of Knights!

Yes, she is Mordred. I wouldn't have recognized that distinguished armour if I hadn't seen Fate/ Apocrypha. She's Saber of Red.

She gives me a slightly strange smile.

"Now, I shall inquire. Are you... my Master?"

She has intensity, I'm sure of it.

And to think I finally summoned one of the heavyweights. King Arthur's own daughter, the knight of treachery Mordred.

I'm going to take advantage of her not having the helmet to see her parameters.

She is a good Servant, and seems to be quite strong.

What kept me from seeing her Noble Phantasm, True Name and Personal Skills is one of her Noble Phantasm, [Secret of Pedigree].

[Secret of Pedigree] is the helmet of Mordred given to her by Morgan along with the words "You must not remove", told to wear it at all times to keep her identity and lineage a secret. Manifesting from the fact that it was never once removed in public until her final fight with King Arthur, it hides certain sections of her parameters, even from her own Master.

Her other two Noble Phantasms are related to her sword, Clarent.

One of them is the sword itself. [Clarent] It's a symbol of royalty that denotes the right of succession to the throne. It is a treasured sword that has a value equal to, if not greater than, Caliburn, which extends the authority of the king, the "king's" royal aura.

It is usually a B-rank sword granted during the succession of the reign, but Mordred stole it without recognition. She obtained it by breaking into the vaults of Camelot when she temporarily claimed the throne during her rebellion, after inciting the incidents that led her father to lead an expedition after the traitor Lancelot. Because of this action, she was never recognized as a king, so the sword's rank is reduced by one to C, and she does not get any of the normal bonuses while wielding it.

The last and most powerful Noble Phantasm is [Clarent Blood Arthur].

Clarent Blood Arthur: Rebellion Against My Beautiful Father, that's the full name of this Noble Phantasm.

It is the full power, released form of Clarent utilized by Mordred, a transformation into an evil sword of hatred upon the condition of her holding it. It is not the proper nature of the sword, but an effect of the episode in Mordred's legend where she had stolen the sword from King Arthur's armoury and then later used it to deal a fatal blow to her father. It is an application of [Mana Burst] that allows her to force her excessive hatred for her father into the sword in the form of magical energy. Then the sword amplifies it and enables it to be launched as an attack.

I don't need the system's help to know all this information about Mordred. The Saber and Lancer classes have always been my favourite, and I've done a lot of research on them. Being Mordred one of the few Saber that appears in the anime, I have researched it even more in the past.

For what I want to do now, I do need the help of the system.

God's Voice, show me her status.

Holy F.u.c.k!

She's too strong, too strong.

Now that I look at it, she's small. I, who look like a 13-year-old boy, am about the same height as her. Kuroka is a little shorter than Mordred and me.

Swoosh!

The armour that covered Mordred disappeared, leaving only a small layer of clothing. It was a single piece of equipment that wrapped her b.r.e.a.s.ts and arms, leaving her abdomen and back exposed. This was attached to a pair of grey trousers, which had a sort of red skirt and red heels.

Her smile has disappeared, and now she is looking at me with a severe face.

"I am Draco, your Master. I'm glad to know you."

She doesn't answer me and looks at me with a strange face. She then starts looking sideways.

"You summon me in a forest, and you're just a little boy. You were playing with your friends, and you summoned me by accident?"

Geezer, I think I understand how you felt when I was making fun of you. What's worse, she doesn't seem to have said it to make fun of me.

"I know you're hiding, get out of there!"

"Ufufufu, so you've discovered me, even Ddraig wouldn't be able to detect my presence if I tried hard to hide it. It seems these Servants Draco was talking about are more interesting than I thought."

Tiamat came out from behind a tree.

So Mordred is capable of this...

"Hahaha, I didn't really know anyone was there. It was my instinct to act now."

She smirked.

"So, are you my Master?"

Mordred asks Tiamat.

Hey, that hurts a little bit, you know.

"No, your master is that guy over there."

"Really?"

It really hurts.

"Yes. But to think that Mordred, King Arthur's son, was a woman..."

Oh, shit! That's something you can never tell Mordred.

Swoosh--

I feel the wind pressing against me, and I step back unconsciously.

"For a Servant, you're pretty rebellious, aren't you?"

Mordred was no longer in place and was aiming her sword at Tiamat's neck.

"Next time you call me a woman, I won't be able to control myself. Understand?"

For some reason, this reminds me of the beginnings of Apocrypha.

"So what are you gonna do? Are you gonna deny reality, woman?"

No, this has nothing to do with the beginnings of Apocrypha.
