Chapter 220 - Talking about Fate...

Currently, Drako was sitting quietly on the terrace of the building. That was where he trained his Touki, but that was not the case at this time.

"Sage, I want you to talk to me about traveling between dimensions."

[That's a very broad term, I need you to specify what you want to know.]

Drako frowned.

"Let's start with the basics, did you say a long time ago that it was going to cost me a Fate Point to open a portal to another dimension?"

[That's right, it costs you one Fate Point per person. This is because you are artificially introducing an element that can change the fate of that universe].

"So... wouldn't it cost me more Fate Points to bring my Servants with me?"

That's what Drako remembered. Sometime before, he had had a superficial conversation with Sage about a possible trip to Nasuverse, specifically to the Holy Grail Wars. He had already told him that his Servants could travel with him by spending a single Fate Point, but Drako could not understand why this was so.

Sage answered Drako's question.

[No, this is because the Servants' existence is linked to the system, while the system is linked to your soul. In other words, the laws of destiny of the multiverse treat the Servants as if they were extensions of your soul].

"I see," Drako nodded.

So the Servants and Drako formed something like one and the same existence. It was strange, but that was how these transcendental laws worked.

"However, if I want to take someone other than my Servant, then I will have to pay more Fate Points."

[Exactly.]

That was... unfortunate. If it were possible, Drako would have liked to bring all the girls, and even the boys as well. Except for the youngest and weakest, Dawn's whole group was going to be very useful in the Holy Grail Wars.

"Sigh... it's a shame," Drako sighed. "I would have liked to bring Valina and Lavinia, especially, as the power of both was going to be extremely useful."

The power of two Longinus, especially two talented girls who knew how to use their powers, would not lose to a Servant. No, together, they could even defeat one or two Servants at the same time.

Now, Drako had another problem.

"What is the relationship between the time in the Nasuverse and this universe?" Drako asked Sage.

Yes, that was an important question. Drako had no doubt that by marching to Nasuverse, he would be there for at least ten years. The first trip to that universe Drako wanted to make was to the timeline of Kiritsugu Emiya and Shirou Emiya, the most famous of all.

However, all this depended on the time he was going to spend in this DxD world.

If time passed simultaneously in both universes, then Drako preferred to go to the Holy Grail War of Apocrypha.

[There is no temporal relationship between the two universes.]

"What do you mean by that?"

[Time will continue to pass in both universes, but you can decide what time you appear on the timeline. Of course, this has its own limits. Once you enter a universe, you cannot travel in time. That is, you can't go back into the DxD past, whereas you can reappear at any time in the future].

Drako processed that information.

More or less, travel between universes worked as follows.

If Drako traveled to Nasuverse, he could choose the time and place where he would appear. From that moment on, he could not go back in time. The same thing would happen when the time came for Drako and his Servants to return to the DxD world. Drako could choose to return on a date later than the day he left for Nasuverse, but he could not choose a date earlier than that.

But...

"Can I come back the same day? For example, one second later?"

[Yes.]

Drako smiled, this was perfect for him. This was the best possible development for his situation.

In this way, he could leave this universe without fear of losing any of the events that are going to happen in the future.

Now, Drako just had to have everything ready for the next trip.

A few days later.

"Where did you say we were going?"

The one asking this question was a teenage girl with coppery skin, who had actually lived for millennia. She had a face full of shock, and this was because of what the boy in front of her had told her.

"Let's go to another universe," Drako repeated what he had said earlier.

Hearing the same words again didn't make Zoe calm down. In fact, the effect was quite the opposite.

"Are you serious?" She got up in alarm.

Her reaction was normal. How could they travel to another universe? Did another universe even exist?

Zoe was even rethinking whether Drako was or not mentally healthy. Perhaps the fight with Ladon had left him with more consequences than the boy normally displayed.

But... it only took one look at the other two Servants who were accompanying them, who, though a little surprised, seemed to understand what Drako was saying.

"Although I understand your reaction, I think it's better to calm down for now, Zoe," Drako said. "It's my fault I didn't explain it to you earlier, but that's why we're here."

Seeing that both Drako and Mordred and Kuroka were calm, Zoe took a deep breath and sat down again. Perhaps it was best to hear what they had to say.

"So it's time, huh," Mordred muttered as he clenched his fist. "Are we going to the corrupt war?"

At the question from his first Servant, Drako nodded.

"I see..."

In the past, Drako told Mordred and Kuroka about Fuyuki's Holy Grail War and how it was contaminated by Angra Mainyu. Well, he had only said details above, so the information they had was limited.

"Wait, Holy Grail War?"

Zoe didn't know anything about the Holy Grail War, just like anyone else in the world. Therefore, Drako had to explain to her as best he could what this war was all about. This also served as a refresher for Kuroka and Mordred, who may have forgotten details over the months.

It wasn't too complicated, either. A war between 7 Masters and 7 Servants who fought in the purest Battle Royale style until only one remained.

"Wait, wait," Zoe stood up as she looked at Mordred with shock in her eyes. "Are you the real Mordred?"

Mordred looked at her with some confusion. "Yes, why? I am the sole heir to King Arthur."

Zoe did not know exactly how to respond. She had always imagined that Mordred was one of those many descendants of heroes, but she would never have thought that he was the original hero.

After finishing explaining the theory behind the Holy Grail War, Drako talked about these two specific Holy Grail Wars.

"We will arrive at the site in question a year early, as there is a certain event that I personally have to get involved in," Drako said. "Therefore, we will have a year to adapt to the site and investigate if anything has changed from what I know."

Now, Zoe had a face that said she was beginning to understand everything.

"When are we going to leave-Nyaa?" Kuroka asked.

"Now," Drako said without hesitation. "But first, we have to give Zoe a Noble Phantasm."

Yes, Drako had to spend at least one Fate Point to give Zoe a Noble Phantasm. Hopefully, that Noble Phantasm was related to an Archer.

"This... I know you've mentioned it before, the crystallization of a hero's fame or something like that, but... how can you give me something like that?" Zoe asked.

Drako simply shrugged. "The same way I made you into a Servant. Kuroka is no different than you, and she already has her own Noble Phantasm."

Meanwhile, Drako started talking to Sage.

"Spend 1 Fate Point on a Noble Phantasm."

[Are you sure?]

"Yes."

[1 Fate Point used, getting Noble Phantasm]
