Chapter 48 Walking Into The Lion's Den (IV)

Fear began to consume Noah as he saw dozens of his men die. The long-armed monsters killed them like flies, while the survivors tried to run for their lives.

"Hey! Don't run!" Noah shouted but no one seemed to care.

The man didn't realize that he was the only one in the middle of the battle. He stood alone amidst the corpses of his men. When he looked around, a giant creature was standing in front of him. Its eyes glowed red in the darkness.

Noah was stunned in fear, trembling, and his knees felt weak. "Please, don't kill me."

The red-eyed wendigo raised a hand into the air, ready to smash him.

"No!" he screamed in fear.

Just as he thought he was going to die, icy spikes quickly crawled over the ground and froze half of its body. Then, Noah darted backwards as if an invisible hand was pulling him.

Raising his head, he saw two people standing behind him. An exotic-skinned woman and a handsome man.

"Who are you?" he asked spontaneously.

"Have you forgotten me? The one you referred to as your cousin's pawn," the handsome man replied in a cold tone.

Instantly, Noah remembered him.

It was Justin Law.

Looking at Noah, Justin felt annoyed and satisfied at the same time. On the one hand he didn't like having to save him, and on the other hand he liked seeing the man in this pathetic state.

"Guild Master, I need you to focus."

"Okay, Olivia."

The red-eyed wendigo went berserk, seeing the prey in front of its eyes disappear. Its attention was drawn to the two thieves standing not far away.

CREAK!

The ice broke, and the alpha ran at them like a gorilla. Justin tried to impede its movement by casting ice crystals, but that wendigo was unstoppable.

Olivia quickly threw Noah into the air before the monster smashed them.

"Split up!" Justin shouted.

Bam!

The earth trembled and black dust floated in the air. That monster only hit the ground, while its prey managed to escape. Suddenly, dozens of bullet-shaped ice crystals were coming.

Splash! Splash! Splash!

"Graaawrr!"

Roaring with rage, the alpha could not move because half of its body was frozen. At the same time, a large boulder flew over its head.

Bam!

A thud echoed and dust covered the sight.

"We did it!" exclaimed Olvia.

Justin smiled triumphantly. They had both defeated the red-eyed wendigo.

At least that's what they thought.

While they were both in euphoria, suddenly a roar echoed through the air. A pair of glowing red lights, the giant wendigo emerged from the floating dust.

Opening her eyes, Olivia was surprised to see the monster standing upright. There were no signs of injury on its body. Justin could only grit his teeth. He thought the attack was deadly.

"Damn it! Don't give up!" Justin exclaimed.

At the same time, they launched an attack. Olivia used her [Psychokinesis] in an attempt to knock the wendigo off balance, but it proved to be only a brief distraction. Justin casted numerous ice crystals, but they lacked the necessary strength to overpower the brute force of wendigo.

"Give me time! I'll go full force."

"Okay!" Olvia replied.

She ran to distract the monster from Justin, so that he could charge up on mana to cast a fatal blow.

However, the alpha realized their tactic, and it quickly tossed the dead bodies on them.

"Watch out!"

Waving a hand, Olivia pulled Justin away before he was hit by corpses.

"That was close. Are you okay?" Olivia asked through her teeth.

Justin just nodded, though his arm was bleeding.

As he stood up, other wendigos came from different directions, surrounding the two of them. Justin and Olivia were so focused on the alpha that they didn't realize they were being targeted. They looked around, searching for an opening to escape, but they couldn't find one.

It was checkmate.

"Damn it!" Justin gritted his teeth.

Olivia was trembling. For the first time, she felt the fear of death. She never imagined this situation would happen to her.

In that hopeless moment, hundreds of swords and weapons stuck in the ground trembled. They were uprooted and floated into the air.

Justin opened his eyes wide as he saw the strange phenomenon.

"Is it you?" he asked.

Olivia shook her head. "Not me."

It wasn't just the two of them who were dumbfounded, wendigos seemed astonished to see hundreds of swords floating in the sky. Then, the weapons pointed their sharp edges at the ground.

Opening his eyes wide, Justin instantly knew what would happen next. He created a dome of ice over their heads, and then the sound of whistling wind rang out in the silence.

Swush! Swush! Swush!

The hundreds of swords swooped down simultaneously, slashing at those wendigos.

Splat! Splat! Splat!

"Aaaarrrrrrgh!"

Screams of pain echoed through the air as flesh was torn apart. The huge monsters were kneeling in a pool of blood, with dozens of swords stuck in their bodies. A wendigo ran to save its life but it ended in death.

Meanwhile, Justin looked out and found that none of the swords were stuck on the ice doom.

"How is that possible," he muttered in astonished.

Olivia was dumbfounded when she saw the rain of swords. Although she could use [Psychokinesis], she could not perfectly control hundreds of objects.

As the two of them were stunned, the sound of wind whistling came from behind. It was Akio. He darted at high speed after the alpha.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

"Gwaaarrrrgh!"

The red-eyed Wendigo screamed as Akio left deep scratches on its body. Not long after, Michael and dozens of other awakeners came to back him up.

"Attack!" The stocky man screamed a battle cry.

Seeing the help coming, Justin breathed a sigh of relief and dropped himself to the ground. For a moment, he thought he was going to die.

"Hey are you guys okay?" Joanna came over to those two awakeners. She immediately treated Justin as her hand emitted a green glow.

"You? Klaus' sister?" said Justin.

"Joanna. we already know each other, right?"

Justin laughed awkwardly. "Yes, haha. Sorry I forgot."

After she finished with the guild master, Joanna quickly treated Olivia. Those two women looked awkward as they met face to face.

"Thank you," Olivia said, a little shyly.

Joanna snorted. "It's my job. Anyway, don't thank me. Say those nice words to Klaus."

Hearing the name she hated the most come out of her mouth, Olivia frowned. At the same time, the sound of footsteps could be heard drawing closer.

Walking leisurely, Klaus flailed his arms in the air, directing the flying swords to attack the wendigos. Though he was controlling hundreds of swords simultaneously, they darted and landed accurately. Not a single one hit the awakener.

"Akio! Michael! Focus on that red-eyed wendigo. It's alpha." Klaus instructed them through the smartlink.

He glanced at Justin and Olivia. There was no particular expression on his face when he saw them.

Biting his lip, Justin said, "Thank you, and I'm sorry. Klaus."

Olivia didn't say anything, she just bowed her head.

A sigh escaped Klaus' mouth. "We'll talk about this later. I'm not done with your foolishness yet. For now, just rest."

While the party members ganged up on the alpha, Klaus single-handedly faced the remaining wendigos. He killed them with just a finger gesture, without even breaking a sweat.

Splat! Splat! Splat!

"Graaawwr!"

Justin and Olivia could not help but drop their jaws. What Klaus had done was impossible for them. They were overwhelmed just to take down one wendigo, while he killed four with a bored look on his face.

For some reason, Olivia started to trust Klaus' word when they were in the rift scene.

In less than a couple seconds, three wendigos were bloodied to death. That left the alpha still raging.

The skin of the red-eyed wendigo was thick. Hundreds of flying swords left only shallow scratches. Nevertheless, the Rays of Hope were able to corner it. Especially thanks to Akio and Michael.

"Don't come close! Let me and Akio face this monster head-on."

The tanker, Michael, valiantly stood at the forefront. The big man had the [Turtle Defense] talent. Every time the red-eyed wendigo landed a smash on him, the physical damage he took would be reduced by 80%. No matter how much physical damage the alpha dealt, Michael would not suffer any significant injuries.

"Hahahah! That's all you've got?" Michael laughed mockingly.

If Michael was an absolute defense, then Akio was the opposite. That man's talent was [Stack Damage]. Every attack he landed at the enemy, the damage would be stacked. The more attacks that hit the target, the greater the damage for each attack.

The combination of that duo was perfect for 1v2 situations. Plus, the other party members assisted them by casting elemental attacks though they were not casters.

Meanwhile, Klaus observed the battle from a distance.

"They're not bad either," Klaus muttered.

He had it all planned out. Right from the start he loaned some A-Class for this, to defeat the alpha from the yellow dungeon. Thanks to Laplace.

"Thank you, Laplace," Klaus muttered.

<It is my duty to help you, my liege. But I recommend finishing it off immediately. Those two are not enough.>

Klaus raised an eyebrow, and what Laplace said was true.

Suddenly, that wendigo's body vaporized, then a powerful blast of hot steam pushed everything around it. Akio managed to escape, but Michael and the rest of the party were hit, blown 10 meters away.

Screaming in pain, they rolled around as their skin blistered and the heat spread throughout their bodies. Luckily, Michael was standing at the front, so the people behind him were not significantly affected. However, they were still badly injured.

"Ararrrgh!"

The red-eyed wendigo seemed to emit a fierce killing aura.

Joanna instinctively hugged the closest person. Olivia gulped, while Justin held his breath.

Seeing his men dying, Klaus gritted his teeth. "I should have intervened earlier."

Klaus borrowed Olivia's sword, and she didn't resist when he took it.

A dark aura came out of his body, thin but still emitting a terrifying aura. He flowed [Dark Force] on the sword and raised it into the air.

"Graaaawrrrr!"

Roaring, the alpha ran over to him, with a strong killing aura.

Klaus sighed. "I guess 1% is enough."

When the monster jumped up, Klaus swung his sword vertically, and then a black light shot out along with a rumble.

THUD!

The red-eyed wendigo split into two along with the ground, forming a 100-meter-long ravine.
