Chapter 76 Criminale

When the rift was open for too long, monsters usually came out of the dungeon. The awakeners usually hunted them down, but sometimes one or two monsters escaped and hid in town.

At the same time, Klaus was also surprised. Vampires were top-class monsters. They were immortal and could place curses on their prey. According to records, they had only appeared once in the red dungeon located on Iwo Jima.

And the worst part, they were immune to magic and had an incredible regeneration speed. The Bronx would have become a killing field if Vampires were roaming this town.

"What on earth are you doing, Sheila," Klaus muttered.

Later, Sylvia and Miranda came over while talking. Klaus quickly asked the old lady.

"Miranda, Emma said Sheila often comes here with a man named Roach. Why didn't you tell me this?" Klaus asked in a fierce tone.

The old lady was a little surprised. She sighed and then said, "Sorry, Mr. Morgan. Indeed, Sheila has a friend who also helps us a lot. But," Miranda paused, doubt painted on her face, "that person is really troubled. He's involved with gangsters. I often refused his help even though he insisted. I don't want you to get involved with someone like him, Mr. Morgan."

Sylvia was surprised and wondered at the same time.

Klaus asked her where she could find Roach. Miranda bit her lip before she told Klaus.

"Thank you, Miranda," Klaus said. "You don't have to worry about the bank. I'll help you with your financial problems once I get my money."

A smile bloomed on Miranda's face. "Really? Thank you, Mr. Morgan! I don't know how to repay your kindness."

While Miranda cried tears of joy, the children who had eavesdropped on their conversation grinned. Some jumped up and down, and some sighed. And Sylvia smiled at Klaus' sincerity.

The word had been given. Klaus promised Emma and Denzel to help them, and he would keep it.

"In that case, we'll leave first."

After saying goodbye, Klaus and Sylvia left the orphanage for the gangsters' hideout.

...

Under the sun, a black sedan car drove through a remote area. Tall buildings were rarely seen. The sidewalks were broken, and there was grass in some parts. It had been quiet until no cars were seen passing by. Young people had gathered on the roadside, making discreet transactions.

The car Klaus was driving pulled into a small alley entrance.

As Klaus and Sylvia exited the car, a group of men approached them. Their faces were fierce, and they had tall bodies. Sylvia quickly clenched her fists, ready for the worst situation.

"Who are you guys? I've never seen you here." One of them asked in an arrogant tone.

"I'm looking for Roach," Klaus replied.

The man looked at his friend for a moment. "I've never heard that name. Fuck off."

Klaus sighed. He had been circling the Bronx all day to get to this place. The answer did not make Klaus happy.

Taking a deep breath, Klaus tried to calm himself. "You know what, I don't care about Roach. I stepped into this shithole to ensure my subordinates and money were okay. If you've heard of Sheila, tell me right now where she is. Or let me pass by because I'm tired and busy. I'm still being kind right now."

The man grabbed Klaus by the shoulders. "As I said, I don't know Roach. And who the hell is Sheila? Get the fuck out of my face."

Klaus didn't want to make a scene, but he'd had enough.

"I warned you," Klaus said.

A scream of pain echoed as Klaus twisted that man's hand. Naturally, the other men attacked Klaus, but Sylvia threw fists at them.

Papapapa!

"Argggh!"

The two men fell before they could touch him.

They entered an alley and walked down a narrow street until they came to a dilapidated building with broken windows and mold decorating the walls. At the rusted entrance gate, the two men guarding it raised their weapons as they saw Klaus and Sylvia.

"Who are you?!" they shouted.

Klaus flicked a finger, and a metal sphere shot out at high speed, taking them down in seconds.

"Keough!"

He touched the gate, and it slammed into the wall as the sound of impact echoed throughout the room.

BAM!

The people inside the building were startled. They quickly grabbed their weapons when they saw the uninvited guest coming.

Footsteps broke the silence as Klaus walked into the room.

@@@@@@@@

"Awakener! Awakener!"

"Call! Boss!"

"We're under attack!"

Klaus raised his eyebrows, seeing dozens of gangsters panicking and grabbing their guns. They were using conventional weapons. He knew right away that these people were just ordinary humans.

Guns were pointed at Klaus and Sylvia. The red-haired woman gritted her teeth. Maybe the shots didn't kill her, but the pain from the bullets hitting her skin was still excruciating.

"Back off before I put a bullet in your head!" Threatened one of the gangsters.

Klaus walked casually and raised his hands. "Calm down, nerdy boys. I didn't mean to ruin your little meeting. Don't rush to pull the trigger."

"Don't move!"

Klaus stopped. "Okay, okay. I want to see Roach. And my secretary, Sheila. If you see them, tell them to get out."

After "Roach" escaped his mouth, they were startled.

"You son of a bitch! Shoot!"

Muzzle sprayed dozens of bullets. Gunfire and casings falling to the floor echoed throughout the building for the next few seconds.

As the guns were no longer spewing hot lead, the gangsters dropped their jaws. Their eyes opened wide at the sight before them.

Those bullets stopped and floated in the air as if an invisible wall held them back. They were only a few centimeters away from Klaus' face.

Sylvia was stunned as she emitted a green light from her body. She was about to use [Time Rewind] to stop the bullets, but they stopped on their own before that happened.

Klaus smirked. As he walked towards the gangsters, the bullets shifted, paving the way for Klaus to pass. Of course, the sight made the armed thugs gulp.

"I did as you said. I didn't move, but you pulled the triggers. It's my fault for coming into this damn place in such a disrespectful manner. But still, it's hard to let it slide by."

The bullets changed direction, aiming their snouts at the gangsters. Naturally, those thugs trembled and took a step back. It was easy for them to know what happened to the following, but they were afraid to imagine it.

They hurriedly reloaded before they bite the bullet. Unfortunately, they didn't have time for that.

"Stupid," Klaus muttered.

He pointed at them, and the beads of lead shot toward them.

"Stop it!"

At that moment, a green-haired man jumped out of line and sucked all the bullets aiming for the gangsters. Like a magnet, they were attracted and gathered in his hands.

Klaus raised his eyebrows as he saw an awakener appear among them.

"Finally, their awakener appears too."

Suddenly, Klaus felt danger was coming. Looking up, he saw a woman with iron gauntlets hovering over him.

"Hya!"

BAM!

A boom echoed, and the floor shook.

Klaus managed to dodge in time. However, two giant wolves appeared out of nowhere. They came from two sides, baring their sharp fangs to pounce on him.

"Look out!" Sylvia shouted.

Those two white-furred monsters stopped before they could touch Klaus. Sylvia managed to rewind time and return the wolf monsters to their original positions. They ran backwards towards the rear of the gangsters.

"Are you okay, Klaus?" asked Sylvia, her breath caught in her throat. The red-haired woman was exhausted after using her talent once.

Klaus nodded.

His mind was now on his enemy. The gangsters seemed relieved after the appearance of the two awakeners. However, he was more interested in the monsters.

"Direwolf outside the dungeon. This is interesting," he muttered.

Amidst the tension, the sound of footsteps broke the silence. A man in a beach-patterned shirt and shorts emerged from the crowd. He had a shaved head, and his skin was as dark as a brownie. Two dire wolves trailed behind him.

The gangsters gave way as the bald man passed. Klaus instantly knew he was the boss of these gangsters.

"Yo, bro. Why are you suddenly presumptuous to enter people's homes? Do you have a problem with me?" asked the bald man.

Klaus snorted. "I'm here to get my money."

The bald man twisted his face in confusion. "I've never met you. Who are you?"

"I want to tell you my identity. But I must keep it a secret." Klaus pursed his lips. "I sold you arcana through my subordinate. I'm sure you know you remembered something."

The bald man opened his mouth. "Ah, so you're from Morning Star."

"Morning Star? No, I'm not." Klaus furrowed his brow.

But, the bald man did not hear him

"Kill them."

Before Klaus could explain, the green-haired man and the woman with the iron gauntlets attacked, as did the dire wolf couple. Seeing them draw closer, Klaus shook his head.

"I hope you guys saved my money properly."

Four metal spheres shot out from his sleeves. They hovered before piercing the flesh and bones of his enemy.
