Chapter 141 Breakdown

"Where are my parents?!? I need to go to them! WHERE ARE THEY?!" Jennie screamed at the top of her lungs.

Tears trickled down her pale cheeks like streams.

It didn't really require a genius to figure out that Jennie had a mental breakdown just now.

Controlling her was basically impossible in her current state.

Liam spends the last three days brewing potions. The Kikal Tonics and the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum required a while to be completed due to certain processes such as the reaction between two substances from heating up the content inside the flask, and the fermenting procedure of other ingredients.

All-in-all, Liam was now done preparing everything to consume the Blood Yokai el Ray Serum. In fact, the only thing left to do was to wait two more days until the Livral Orb finished digesting the Spawn of the Ancient Vermin Drakling. He was in need of the Arcane Power to make full use of the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum.

Digesting it properly required a big source of Arcane Power nearby, or stored Arcane Power to be used, otherwise, the effect of the serum would only be half, and his Arcane Power wouldn't increase at all, leaving him a mere physical enhancement.

After spending most of his Arcanium, even the Arcanium he acquired from the Early Birds Shop over the course of the last few days, Liam wasn't ready to waste the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum.

In fact, if the others were not ready to consume the Kikal Tonics or the Kikal Stalks, he would just use them for himself, or sell them for a small fortune.

Each of the Kikal Tonics was valued at several hundred Arcanium, while the two dozen Kikal Stalks were probably worth the same simply because they were rare ingredients.

"Jennie, please calm down. Calm down a little!" Felicia said, trying to embrace Jennie tightly to restrict her movements and console the young woman.

However, Jennie seemed to have gotten much stronger due to her emotional struggle. She got rid of Felicia's arms easily and tried to charge outside the wooden hut.

Until now, no monster found their hideout. That was mostly thanks to the hard work Hellen Wagner did. Her efforts paid off well.

Liam was glad about that, though it seemed like Jennie's mental breakdown would change the situation soon. Her shouting was bound to be heard by a bunch of monsters.

Of course, that was not something Jennie could be bothered about right now. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, and nobody could hold her back.

Her reason to shout out so loudly was pretty simple as well.

The Lava Salamander, the 1st Circle Monster, also considered the prime suspect as an arsonist of Sila City, appeared in Sila City.

pαndα---noνɐ1,сoМ It was almost as if the Lava Salamander returned to the crime scene to take a good look at the beautiful artwork it had created.

For Jennie, the news of the Lava Salamander was the worst. She wanted to charge out and tear the monster apart with her bare hands.

While that was a nice thought, and something Liam wished to see, it was not realistic, at all.

Jennie was not a Balrog nor a Minotaur. She was a weak human who had yet to create her first Arcane Circle. She didn't even have high enough stats to create the Thrashiest Arcane Circle, in the first place.

Her wishful thinking was nothing more than that, a wish.

Liam had already suspected it three days ago, but Felicia's Soultrait began to work again after they reached Sila City. In fact, it had never been broken in the first place. However, the answers she had received from the Truth of Arcanium Soultrait whenever it was about her own family, or Jennie's family, were extremely vague.

They were vague to an extent that nobody could figure out what exactly the answer was supposed to mean in the first place.

This changed the moment they arrived in Sila City. Felicia's Soultrait worked again and she received proper answers to the questions she had asked a long time ago. Instead of the ambiguous answers, she knew what exactly happened to Jennie's parents, and she couldn't get herself to reveal the truth…not everything at least.

Liam heard Felicia and Olivia speaking about it before so he knew what exactly happened.

To put it simply, Jennie's parents were dead, and it was impossible to recover their bodies.

Adding a few details, The Lava Salamander spits a mass of lava on their house, sealing her parents inside it. Jennie's parents weren't able to escape the lava that melt down their whole house before it reached them. Her parents had been hugging each other until the final moments, pleading to the higher beings that their beloved daughter was doing fine.

It was only right for Jennie to know this because they were talking about her parents. However, even Liam didn't really think that it was a good decision to bluntly tell Jennie that her parents died in a cage of lava, slowly burning to death.

It was already enough to say that her parents were dead, killed by the Lava Salamander.

And that was exactly what Felicia did this morning.

Jennie had been out of it for the last three days, only to regain her senses today. She had felt like a mindless vessel.

Liam couldn't really understand why Jennie had been like that before. When his friends and lover had been killed, he was fuming in anger, ready to kill everyone responsible for their suffering even if that meant he would have to die.

However, Jennie was not like him. She was a fragile woman, who could hardly take care of herself. Her life had been turned upside down during the last three weeks, and it was only obvious that she had never expected to lose her parents like that. She couldn't even bid them farewell or talk to them even one more time.

Life was cruel, that was reality.

Her parents were dead. That was also reality.

Thus, upon walking down the attic, Liam chose to intervene in the chaos that had ensued on the first floor.

Felicia and Olivia had been trying to hold Jennie without hurting her. This was a lot more difficult than expected as the woman had turned into a wild warrior.

"Calm down."

Liam's voice rang through the entire wooden hut. It was calm, yet oddly authoritative.

Everyone turned in Liam'S direction, just to see the halfling appearing by Jennie's side.

He held her arm with one hand. His grip was tight and he didn't even think of loosening it.

Jennie's expression distorted in pain, but she didn't even think of calming down.

On the contrary, it looked like Liam's grip turned her into an even wilder animal.

"Let me go! I need to see my parents!! They're waiting for me!!!" She screamed out loud, ignoring Liam's cold expression.

Olivia sensed something and she took a step forward.

"Liam, wait a mo–..."

However, before she could even finish her sentence, Liam's other hand wiped across Jennie's face, hurling her to the ground.

"I told you to calm down."

Liam ignored the others around them. He bends down to the ground with his gaze lingering on Jennie.

"What do you think you're doing right now? The Lava Salamander killed your parents, correct? I never said that it didn't But what can you do about it? Do you want to die as well? In that case, don't drag us with you. Your screams attract other monsters if you keep going like this.

If you want revenge, do something against it rather than screaming around mindlessly."

Liam was cruel right now, but he didn't care. He didn't plan on allowing Jennie to drag them down into a situation where death was the only option.

He knew how strong a Lava Salamander was and could easily tell that it would kill all of them with a single attack. They were not strong enough yet.

Jennie stared at Liam, holding her cheek with tears in her eyes. She did not know what she was supposed to say, but she didn't want to give up yet.

Liam's words went over her head. She didn't want to hear them so she didn't listen.

That was how things went down. Jennie jumped up from the ground and was about to charge out of the wooden hut without saying a single word.

But even before she could take two steps, her sight began to turn hazy. She lost control of her body and everything around her turned black.

Liam caught her with his right arm while he removed his left hand from her neck. The others stared blankly at the situation in front of them with Liam's right arm coiled around Jennie's waist while Jennie was unconscious.

"Good job!" Felicia said all of a sudden, giving him a thumbs up.

Liam raised an eyebrow without saying anything.

Jennie should wake up in a few hours, so he put her on the ground while making free his hands to make sure that she was fine.

After that, he went out to take a look at the Lava Salamander.

If it was an Elder Lava Salamander, they didn't have a chance of survival upon fighting.

However, if the Lava Salamander was not yet that old, they might have a chance of fighting it.

Of course, not in their current state.

In their current state, it was basically suicidal to fight any type of Lava Salamander.

But that didn't mean they couldn't change in the next few days.

Everything was possible as long as they used their resources!
