Chapter 101

101 Vertigo Finale

A drug whose initial formula killed over two hundred people before it was perfected. it was no surprise that the hero academies would have eyes on it.

It was however absurd that they hadn’t made a move on the factory all this while and chose to wait this long before they advanced towards them.

The five students in the car stared at the car in front of them, before glancing at one another.

And a few seconds after the car blocked its way, two figures stepped out of the car. It was a middle-aged man and woman, both of them were holding on to a black pistol and were wearing a blue and gray uniform.

“Get down from the car, with your hands above your hand.” The woman blurted.

The man and the woman had their eyes fixed on the car, and their hand was already on the trigger. They were ready to pull the trigger at any moment.

Meanwhile, Dwayne and the others sat still, they had eyes on the two cops they were in front of them, and after a brief moment, Victor’s voice rang out.

“Screw them over... It’s only two useless cops.”

Dwayne placed his leg on the acceleration pedal gently and held the steering wheels firmly. “Cover up.” With that said, and Dwayne pressed down the pedal.

.....

Pap pap!

Once the car started moving, the two cops in front began firing. They aimed right at the front glass of the car, and it only took them a couple of shot before the glasses shattered.

Of course, Dwayne didn’t wait and allow them to continue firing at him, he drove the truck quickly. The cops were quick to move away before they would be run over by the truck, and without delay, they began to shoot the truck.

This time around, the two cops didn’t go after the car window, and instead, their target was on the tires. The both of them ran as they shot the tires.

However, despite their efforts to destroy the truck tires they were unable to land a successive hit on it, as the car moved in all sorts of directions. Dwayne had already known they were going to aim for the tires, so before that occurred, his driving was erratic.

“Shit! We lost them.” The male cop exclaimed.

A deep frown appeared on the female cop’s face. She held the speaker microphone which was on her shirt, and said, “Code 480, repeat, Code 480.”

“What’s the status?” A second after the woman spoke, a voice rang out from the piece on her shirt.

“FFY-76C... The truck is heading towards the vine farm in the town. Intercept immediately.” The woman exclaimed.

She then hurried toward the factory, and said, “I’m afraid the vertigo is gone.”

There was silence from the other end when the woman gave the details of the stolen content, and it was only after a few seconds that the person spoke.

“Understood.”

It was just one word, but the action was massive. The cops in the town and even the ones in the nearby communities began to hurry towards the vine’s farm.

And as they hurried toward the farm, they also began to track the truck’s movement. With the truck plate number already given, they were able to access the truck location rather easily and were now on the lookout for the truck.

“The vertigo is of vital importance, we can’t let all our effort go down the drain. Get them at all cost.”

Those were the instruction given to the cops by their head commander as they chase down the truck.

Dwayne continued to accelerate forward, and after about five minutes he pressed down the brake.

As Dwayne saw the cops that were stopping all the cars in front, he turned towards Raphael and stared at him, seemingly wanting to speak to him.

“There’s no way we are going to get this vertigo out of this place without killing someone. It just isn’t possible.” Victor had regained his composure, and two rifles could be seen in his hand as he spoke.

Juliana, who was sitting beside him also, nodded her head several times when she heard Victor. Both of them were convinced that there was no way they could complete the mission without bloodshed.

“Raphael, whatever you did to those boxes, I’m going to need you to do it to the others as well,” Dwayne said.

There was however no response from Raphael when he heard Dwayne, he acted as though, he had no idea what Dwayne was talking about.

It wasn’t then long when a cop began walking towards their truck. While both of them were meters apart, Dwayne could already see the cops speaking to someone through his microphone.

Dwayne immediately turned around when he saw the cops increase his walking pace. As he continued to drive the car at a rather frantic pace, Victor sneered and his voice rang out.

“They are all over the place, there’s no way we are going to escape from here if we don’t act decisive.” Victor was loading several bullets into his guns as he spoke.

“We can’t disobey the academy,” Dwayne said.

There was a smirk on Victor’s face when Dwayne spoke. He stared at Enzo and then Juliana, and as he saw the look she had on her face, he nodded his head.

BANG!

Suddenly, the truck was hit at the back and as Dwayne and the others turned their head, they saw a cop car chasing after them. And the car wasn’t the only one, they were about five more cars coming behind.

If Dwayne was already driving like a beast before, then when he saw the cars, he drove like a maniac instead. Perhaps if the vertigo were taken care of they wouldn’t be in this situation, but it wasn’t, and this was the headache they had.

As Dwayne drove the car, Victor had already arranged a rifle. His finger was already on the trigger and his eye was at the scope of the rifle.

Victor was about to pull the trigger when the truck abruptly turned in another direction. The car was moved in such a way that everyone in the car leaned to the other side.

“What the hell is wrong with you!” Victor yelled as soon as he sat upright. He glared at Dwayne who was in front of him, killing intent evident in his eyes.

“No bloodshed.” Dwayne blurted, seemingly displeased.

“I wasn’t going to kill them. I was simply going to flatten their tires.” Victor exclaimed.

Dwayne remained quiet when he heard Victor. He, of course, didn’t believe Victor, he was called kill shot after all. Dwayne was about to speak when he saw an owl fly through the window.

The owl was Gus, and when Gus appeared, it went to Raphael immediately. Followed by a long hiss from Gus, Raphael nodded his head.

“The cops won’t be disturbing for about ten minutes and that should be enough for us to leave the town,” Raphael said.

“How is that possible?”

Raphael stared at Gus before saying, “The plate number has already been changed, there is an auto-ease service nearby and a new car for us to leave the town has been arranged.”

“Follow Gus’s lead,” After Raphael spoke, Gus flew out of the window. And without asking any questions, Dwayne followed Gus quickly.

To Raphael, there were several ways to escape from the cop chase, but out of the many, he chose the one that he felt was more appropriate.

A few seconds after they escaped the cops at the factory, Raphael had asked Gus to change the car plate as he knew that the cops were going to use that to pinpoint their locations.

It would also become difficult to leave the town while in the truck, and as such he instructed Gus to also inform Aliyah to arrange a car while he took care of the rest.

“Why didn’t you say anything?”

Juliana’s angry voice rang out and before Raphael could even react, he felt steel touching the back of his head.

“You must consider us to be a fool, right?” Juliana said with a sadistic smile on her face.

Raphael chuckled and then said, “Yes, I consider you to be a fool.” Raphael replied.

“Y-You...” Juliana stuttered, she seemed to want to make a move on Raphael when Victor held her hand firmly and shook his head.

While Juliana was furious at Raphael for calling her a fool, she was even more astonished by Victor’s action.

Victor was one of the fearless people she knew, and seeing him act this way towards Raphael, Juliana knew there was something she was missing. And as Victor whispered into her ear, she gasped heavily.

“We are here.”

Dwayne opened the door and stepped out once they reached their destination. Aliyah was already standing in front of a car and as she saw them come out of the truck, she walked toward them.

It wasn’t just Dwayne that left the car, but the others as well. As for Raphael, he went to the back of the truck, opened the storage space, and pointed his hand at the boxes inside.

After a few seconds, Raphael left the truck and walk toward the six-seater. “Let’s go.”
