Chapter 268 - Family Works Together

The next morning…

"Of course I will help. I will not leave my brother till he agrees! He would never say no to his little sister" Queen Elora replied when her husband asked for her help. 

"Thank you dear. You are really a savior" King Edgar said, kissing her forehead. 

"I am not doing this for you! I am doing this for my dear son" Elora said, however her voice has playfulness which of course made King Edgar chuckle. 

His wife could act like a kid sometimes. But of course, he enjoyed this version of her more. It always relieved his stress. 

…

"Baby, can I help you?" Natalie asked, holding on to the blanket that is wrapped around her naked body. 

Although Ethan didn't pester her at night, he of course demanded for early breakfast. They woke up just before brunch time Ethan scheduled with Rebecca's brother. 

"Hmm, not much, hon. I have perfect control over this matter. But if you really want to help Brina, you can just come with me and meet Rebecca's family. I know you don't like crowds and -" he stopped when Natalie stopped him with a finger on his lips. 

"I will come. Brina already did too much for me! If I can't even cross my comfort level for her, I will be the most heartless person. Just be with me, okay? Don't leave me alone" Natalie said. 

As she is still facing her trauma and is not yet really out of her depression after effects, he must be there with her when they meet new people. 

"I will be there, I promise" he said, kissing her lips.

Meanwhile, Brina and Louis woke up too. 

Brina was first to wake up but she prepared brunch for him and made a video call to Rose to see Will. 

Later they ate and showered together. 

"Ready?" Louis asked after dressing up. By then Brina is already ready in her red jumpsuit. 

Jumpsuit always suits her the best. Both professional and etiquette. 

"I am" Brina smiled. 

"Let's kick their asses and get married as soon as possible," Louis said, suddenly in a good mood. 

He already knows that no one is going to stop him from stopping the bride selection event. 

"If you kick their asses, they might never agree to us" Brina teased.

Lunch time…

Kiara, her father, Phoebe and her grandfather were sitting across Louis and Brina. 

They are the leaders of their houses. 

"Your highness, could we ask why this sudden meeting is for?" Kiara's father asked. 

"I hope you are not suspecting us, Your highness. We might be close to House Lykaios (Olivia's house), but that doesn't mean we are involved in all their under the table works" Phoebe's grandfather said. 

"Of course no, Sir Sebastian. We would never suspect any of you or your house. And, why we requested to have lunch meeting is because we need your help" Louis said. 

Kiara's father, Sir Robert looked at both Brina and Louis. 

He couldn't deny that they look perfect together. 

"We would be able to help you, your highness. We would love to. However, we are afraid we can't change our opinion about Bride selection process" Kiara's father said. 

Phoebe's grandfather nodded his head. "It means a lot to us, your highness. We need to prove our house's are no less than the top houses" he said. 

"Yes, we can't compromise our daughter's prestige here" Kiara's father said. 

Meanwhile, Brina looked at Kiara, gesturing to lend a hand. 

This is her time to show her gratitude towards Brina. 

Kiara took a deep breath and looked at her father. An unknown courage in her eyes shocked her father a little. 

He thought she was afraid and frightened because of how Olivia betrayed her. 

However… his daughter seems changed. 

"Dad, without Brina's help, I might have lost all my prestige and humiliated our house. She practically showed me how bad Owen and Olivia are. She saved me from getting used" Kiara interjected, as she spoke confidently. 

"If not for her, I am afraid we would have been manipulated by Olivia's House. They would have plunged us down with them. As Brina warned me just in time, I was able to save myself from getting used by Olivia in Alpha Academy" Kiara said. 

In Alpha Academy, Olivia wanted to use Kiara again, but Brina warned her in time. Otherwise she would have been that person who would have got dismissed rather than Olivia. 

"And dad, Brina has evidence of what happened in the horse riding competition. If we announce the real evidence, we can lift off the bad name I brought to myself." 

"Believed me dad. Brina is very insightful and very capable. She will be the perfect Queen at the time of this crisis" Kiara said, holding her father's hand.  

"But child, I am not against Lady Brina becoming Queen. In fact we all know that she will defeat Katherine in no time. What I-" he stopped when Brina interjected. 

"Sorry for intervening, Sir Robert. I don't have to defeat Katherine." 

"She is my best friend who has long back pledged to support me. When Prince Edward meant 'meaningless' he meant that I had every ladies support" 

"So, it really doesn't matter. Today or later, they would still support me and I will be the one who will be in top position. So, what's the point in continuing bride selection?" Brina asked. 

"I know the rankings means a lot to the Houses and it is not just about selecting bride here" 

"But I don't think you understood the intensity of Rebellion forces here. We are no more under the normal conditions to think about rankings and other stuff" 

"If you really want to show that your house is no less than top houses, you shouldn't be trying to prove it in a bride selection event but in helping the Royal family to stabilize the court and Kingdom" Brina said. 

"Sir, I know more about those people than anyone else. They were my family and I know how cunning and inhumane they are. If we give them even a single chance, they will conquer everything before we know it" 

"We can fight them back only if we all are united strongly. I am not talking about the bride selection here anymore. It is just a matter of a few weeks and I would still be the one who gets selected" 

"But in that process, while the bride selection is happening, many events will happen where the other ladies will fight for the rankings. That shows weakness and it also spreads the poison of jealousy between the ladies, Brina said. 

"And, that is very dangerous" Brina said.
