8 Lame Drama

The group readied each of their equipment and weapon, Takashi held a steel baseball bat, its head filled with the spots of blackness, it's the mark of those creature's blood that had been dried with the passing of the time. Rei tightened her grip on a broom's stick which had a pointy end that could helped her fending off those monster, and combining it with her expertise in a spear technique, she can be quite deadly. Kohta steadied his hand on a sort of hand made modified nail gun, it form took an inspiration of a sub machine gun, and it quite remarkable for him to be able to build it only with the existing spare part, even Fujimura couldn't contain his amazement for the slightly fatty boy. Saeko had her bokken ready in the way she usually hold them, the prestigious Bushido technique of Busujima's family. But Saya and Shizuka... not a single appearance of a weapon could be seen on their hand, although they were not a combatant member, at least they should have grab any thing to protect themselves, this make Fujimura inwardly groaned, it's not because he cared about their life but several things within his vision blatantly brought the annoyance out of him.

Main Objective #1: Escape!

Get out from the Fujimi High school together with the main cast of ,

primary mission:

1. Do not let any main cast get killed.

2. Do not wandered more than 1 KM from any main cast.

secondary mission:

1. ???

2. ???

*Fail to fulfill the primary mission will instantly get you a

*Fail to fulfill the secondary mission will not get you an extra reward.

Fujimura frowned deeply at the strange message, he knew the current life he experienced is kind of a game but he never expected it was so closely resembling one. Moreover, he was confused with several things contained inside this message. First was 'main cast', it usually hold the meaning of the people who played as the main or important characters within some act or any shows. But he clearly inside a reality, how could there be any kind of main cast around? He didn't know who these main cast are but since the message popped out when he is within this group, he thought they are the main cast.

But another question quickly surged inside his mind, and it gave him quite an uncomfortable feeling.

If they were the main cast, then... who was he?

Was he also the main cast, or he was... something else?

The second thing that piqued his curiosity is the words .

What is this? Why it sounds like a title of a game or movie?

And after he gave the third things which is words a bit ponder, a fearful idea manifested inside his already jumbled mind, Is it possible that the world he currently reside is a video game based world made by a strange existence? Or perhaps by the Gods themselves?

Fujimura never been a religious person, resulted of the influence of his parent atheist mindset. Albeit many people, from young to old, tended to speak about the subject, he most likely dissuaded them or only pretended listening.

But the current event that befell on him, and the sudden raise of the dead making him greatly thought the issue once more.

At this moment, a slender hand touched his right cheek and brought back his mind at the matter on the hand.

Saeko looked at him with worry in her eyes, she asked in concern, "Are you OK? You seemed deep in your thought."

Fujimura went silent for a while as he stared at the face of dark purple haired woman before him, such a beautiful making of human figure, is actually a character inside a video game? Though it's not impossible for gods to achieve such thing but he didn't know why it was so hard for him to accept the fact.

Or maybe because she is a video game's character thus her appearance is madly enchanting.

Saeko... what are we? Who are you? And who am I?

Fujimura raised his eyeglasses and wiped the sweat from his eyes, he placed it back and eased his serious countenance, "I am fine, just had some serious matter to think about..."

"What is it?"

"The outside situation..." he looked at the window, his eyes as if gazed far ahead, "in condition like this, many people will try to go out from the city, looking for any quarantine or a safe zone. I don't think we can go very far with the minibus."

Saya turned her face at his direction as she heard him, she nodded her head, "Hayate-Senpai is right, moreover, the government will conduct a tight examination in order not to worsen the pandemics that already wild spread. Perhaps it would take hours for all the citizen to be able to walk pass through their barricade. With the man eating monster slowly got closer to them from behind, who had the patience to wait that long?"

She sighed and her serious eyes swept toward the people in surrounding, "Our journey, is not going to be smooth..."

"We think about that later, our main objective is to get away from here as soon as possible..." Takashi warmed up his hand and held high the bat.

Saeko walked forward, she stood several inches behind him, "We also have to try to save any survivor we find along the way..."

The younger male nodded, then set his face straight ahead, "Everyone ready?"

"Wait, we should come up with strategy..." Fujimura quickly cut in.

Takashi silently grumbled, then he forced a smile to the blue haired boy, "Senpai, do tell us..."

Their previous clashed in idea still left an awkward impression in their relationship, while Takashi looked bothered by it, Fujimura as if didn't care at all. He held his iron sword in his right hand and strode ahead of everyone, his face also signaled Saeko to come along which the girl gladly complied.

"Saeko and I will become the group main attacker, we will try to clear all of them that stood in our path. Miyamoto and Komuro act as the group defender, kill any of them that come from the side or miss by us. Hirano act as the group supporter, try to conserve your ammo as many as you can, and kill any of them that appeared very close from behind the group, also help other member in case they are in difficult situation. Takagi and Marikawa-sensei stood in the center of the group, try to keep your pace with us, if you need a rest then speak up, we will give you a brief time to take a breath, this also apply to any all of you. Don't act tough. Also we need to establish few rules.

One, no matter how dire or frightening the situation are, don't get separate from the group.

Two, don't be hasty in doing something, tell us beforehand what thing you about do and waited for a proper response, for example: if you found any survivor that was in a very dangerous situation, don't act on your own whim to save them but ask our opinion first.

Three, always keep in mind that we are not individual but one group, don't hesitate to shout for a help if you ever had any difficulty.

Four, if any one of you ever get bitten..." a pregnant pause lingered in the atmosphere of the room, Fujimura could look their expression became tense but he still said without mercy, "don't be afraid of what is coming, and don't try to keep it from us..."

His crimson eyes glinted a dangerous colors, "Remembered those rules..."

Everyone sucked a cold air as they could sense the strictness inside his tone, it was as if something bad will happen on them in case they ever break the rule. They nodded their head as fast as a pecking bird.

Albeit they felt a bit scare at his behavior but they knew the words he had spoken is for the safety of the group, thus they couldn't help but hold some respect for the older boy, including the previous awkward Takashi.

The member quickly took their post, Fujimura and Saeko both in the front while Rei and Takashi is respectively on the left and right side, Kohta stood behind the group and the two non-combatant huddle in the heart of the group.

It was a simple yet effective formation, the people silently admitted their security sense as if increased, especially the one in the middle. (AN: Duh!)

In this moment, several clear tone chirped inside Fujimura's mind, it's like a continuous ring of a melodious bell!

"Busujima Saeko join your party!"

"Komuro Takashi join your party!"

"Miyamoto Rei join your party!"

"Hirano Kohta join your party!"

"Takagi Saya join your party!"

"Marikawa Shizuka join your party!"

"Congratulation! You have recruited a main cast member, each person granted you 5 SP!"

"Warning! Warning! You currently can only equipped two member in your party, which person do you want to chose?"

Fujimura expression lagged for a brief, he was shocked by the easiness of recruiting this people, previously, he thought he must did many friendly gesture and sweet action which made him almost threw up on the floor, but now this bunch of member came to him like a flock of birds.

He even got 30 SP for nothing!

This system is indeed strange and peculiar...

Fujimura shook his head and inwardly said, "Busujima Saeko and Hirano Kohta!"

"Ding! Busujima Saeko and Hirano Kohta equipped as your first and second party member, the rest of the party member will be store in party's reservation, you can exchange them as you will in the menu."

"Alert! Alert! New feature added in !"

Finally the sound had been cleared, no more annoying buzz created another distraction for him. He did want to check on this party thing but he just postponed it for a later break.

"Fujimura?" Saeko once again spoke out her concern, it was understandable since the blue haired boy tended to lost in his thought and became absentminded, thus she felt some worry for him. The people behind also gazed at his back in confusion at his sudden radio silence.

"I am fine..." he bitterly said at them, he shook his head and grabbed the door's knob, "let's go!"

"Ou!"

(***)

In the second floor of Fujimi academy's hallway, a group of six student and one teacher jogged on the greenish tiles on the floor. It's not that they leisurely traveled the long corridor, but they tried to conserve their energy yet walking is too slow. Fujimura kicked out a zombie and its body smashed against the hall's window, cracking it in the process but not enough to break it to pieces, he then raised his sword and stabbed the zombie's head without a rush a manner. Saeko dodged one zombie that swung its arm then she swiftly struck the back of its head with her bokken as the zombie fell to the side. The weapon might not be as harmful as the real one, but under her technique it was as if almost the same. Fujimura not only knew that her attack is effective based on his intuition, but the clear increased on his combo bar also proved this matter.

Yes, Saeko's kill increased his combo bar!

But it only applied on the people he put as his party member. For example, when Rei skewered one of them, her attack clearly punctured its head and killed the zombie in the spot but his combo bar remained the same.

Fujimura purposely threw one zombie over his head, flying it backward and passed over the group, then he told Kohta to kill it.

The result was the gaining exp for his gauge as the other glasses boy nailed the zombie's head.

Fujimura almost wanted to laugh at this, he had truly underestimate the capability of party member, originally he thought they are just going to be a burden for him but now he had changed his mind.

But despite the joyful news from his combo meter, his killing streak is not so much.

It still unaffected no matter how Saeko had killed those monster. The count only increased if only he was the one who kill.

Well, at least there was something that he could rejoice.

And it's actually understandable if his streak only mean for him.

The zombie in the hall wasn't many, in fact they actually had killed every single one of them as they proceeded onward. The one who killed the most is Fujimura, and as if didn't want to be undone, Saeko came as the second. The zombie that had been killed by Takashi and Rei combined could be counted by fingers, and Kohta barely shot any nail.

His power and swiftness managed to create an awe to this people. They knew his prowess in kendo just a little below Saeko but never expected his strength was immeasurable. He kicked hard one zombie and its body flung ahead, hitting other of its kind like a bowling struck the ten-pin. It's like watching a superhero movie where the said hero easily trampled his or her enemy.

Even Saeko was stunned by this spectacle. She knew Fujimura since junior high school and she never saw him once as someone with a big strength.

As the subject of interest himself, Fujimura couldn't be more care at the curiosity of the people around him. He was on the euphoria of his fast gaining combo meter thanks to Saeko and the attack boost revealed its might far stronger then the attribute boost. If he knew things will turn out like this, he should just equipped Rei or Takashi instead of Kohta.

Of course, despite his onslaught on those pitiful creature, he still on the right track of his mind, didn't go crazy with the power he possessed. (AN: Pffft, yeah right...)

They went out from the building and arrived on the outside stairs.

"Get away!"

"Aaaah, help! Help!"

They ceased their steps at the first group of survivor they spotted on, It was a group of three boy and two girl.

"Screaming like that would only attract more of them..." Saya bit her thumb and felt helpless.

"They are scared, it's a normal thing to do..." Saeko slowly said.

"Stay in formation, be wary of your surrounding, be careful to the one on the ground, don't get stumble on them..." Fujimura prepared his stance, "Miyamoto, additional job for you, puncture any body that stay in our path!"

"Yes, Senpai!" she nodded obediently.

"Move out!"

They dashed down the stairs, Rei focused on screwing the one that already fell on the ground, making sure they actually dead. Takashi smacked the zombies on the side. Fujimura and Saeko paved their way of slaughter, the glistening iron sword and the dull magnificent wooden sword danced in the midst of rotten blood belong to the dead.

One of the zombie appeared very close to one of the boy, but it didn't stood any chance of inflicting any harm as Kohta shot it down on his own initiative. He glanced at Fujimura's expression, feared if the older boy was angry at him but soon exhaled a mouthful of air as Fujimura seemed not notice his action, then he proceeded on killing the one that crept from behind them.

Truth to be told, Fujimura actually took a notice on this, but he decided to let it off since it wasn't a matter that need to fuss over.

His combo level raised to four as he slashed a zombie head into two and Saeko slammed hard her bokken atop the zombie.

Soon the undead had been cleared from the area, they approached the survivor...

"T-thank you for saving us..." the black haired girl in the group spoke out.

"We are in this together, also next time, try not to shout like that, they got attracted by the sound..." Saeko scanned their condition

"Oh..." the black haired girl nodded.

"Is there any one of you got bitten?" Saya said from behind Fujimura and Saeko.

"No, no, we all clear from any bite!" she waved her hands.

"They do look fine..." Saeko glanced at Saya and nodded in affirmation. The twin tail pink haired girl also mimicked her motion.

Takashi strolled out from the group, he said: "We tried to get out by using the minibus, do you guys want to come along?"

They exchanged glances then the boy with short hair and small towel over his shoulder confirmed their agreement.

From the start of conversation till the end, Fujimura kept his mouth shut and let the others do the talk. It's not that he didn't know how to speak or shy by the situation but he indeed preferred this way, it will be much better if people less know about him, thus their wariness won't be so high on him.

This was just a counter-measure in case something undesirable happened...

The team's formation didn't change, the survivor they saved more than happy to stay behind their group.

They continued down the stairs but soon ceased their steps as they reached the first floor, the space of the building's entrance was not big in the first place, and now as it crowded with many of them, there is no room for the group to move. Unless they braved themselves to fight the horde then they truly had been stuck.

"What to do now..." Shizuka bitterly said as she crouched on the stairs, her oversized twin peak being squashed by her own thighs.

Takashi gritted his teeth as he watched the horror underneath him. They was this close to get out but this damn hateful corpses bared their path like this, this is first time he actually wanted to kill all of them out of his frustration.

Then he remembered their weakness, he swallowed his throat before spoke in hesitation, "What if... someone could get their attention away? Perhaps it possible to make a passage for the rest of the group to pass..."

"It certainly possible, all you need is a loud sound and they will hound it like hungry dogs..." Saya bent her body and massaged her own legs, "all we need is proper distraction but I don't see a single thing nearby that actually we could use..."

"And by I mean distraction is actually a proper bait, thing that could continuously create a sound because I don't think memory is one of their prominent ability..."

Takashi went silent then he forced a smile, "Damn if I do, damn I don't..."

Rei abruptly stood up, her face shifted into a horror one, "Takashi, what are you going to do?! Stop, don't do it, please!"

"There is not much of an option, the day is getting darker, it will be more dangerous for us to stay here in the dark..." Takashi held his bat, "Rei, I have to do it..."

"No! no! We can look for another path, or perhaps we can take Fujimura-senpai's idea, we can stay here for quite sometimes, we didn't need to get out now..." she stopped forward and grasped Takashi's sleeve. Her desperation forced him to look away.

"Rei, don't worry, I will be back, and we all together escape the school..." he revealed his teeth as he grinned at her, "it's a promise..."

Rei expression lagged, she declined her head and the grip power on his sleeve lessened, "How can I know you will keep that promise?"

Takashi's smile went stiff, he scratched his cheek out of embarrassment, "Because... if I don't keep mine, death await all the same..."

Rei widened her eyes, the memory from the distant past rolled back within her mind.

"Takashi! When I grew up, I will marry you!"

"Really?!"

"Un! Like papa and mama, we will grow old together then die together!"

"That's horrifying, perhaps it's a bad idea..."

"Are you saying you don't wanna marry me?!"

"I want, I want, Rei-chan is cute and pretty, of course I want to marry you!"

"Then let's pinky swear, if we don't keep it, death await all the same!"

Rei declined her head far deeper, then she moved her forehead and pasted it on his shoulder, she mumbled, "Idiot..."

Takashi only laughed wryly, unknown to them, one glasses pink haired girl twisted her face in jealousy and couldn't help but snorted in annoyance.

In the midst of their comfort, one cold voice broke the warmness they adopted.

"What's with the lame drama?"

Takashi and Rei startled, they both set their at Fujimura who already walked few steps down by himself.

"Fujimura, do you... want to do this?" Saeko said, unlike Rei, her expression only held a slight worry.

Fujimura shrugged, he said without looking back, "Instead of letting our lover boy sacrifice his youth for the meaningless future, why not me instead? Is not like I have something to expect..."

"Fujimura, you..." Saeko bit her lips, one can see a shiver on her hand.

"Make sure you get to the minibus when there is an opening, don't worry, I am not planning on dying..." he widened his eyes and smiled, "I plan on slaughtering..."

Then he dashed forward, kicking the first zombie he saw and swung the iron sword until it painted with the red color, like the sky that had turned crimson from the departing of the sun.
