Chapter 34: Technology House

The black Cadillac drove by the USC and entered the southern part of downtown Los Angeles. He soon came to the target block. Ronan did not dare to stop casually. The south of USC was one of the most chaotic places in Los Angeles. He didn't want to report the crime for a while.

Drive along the block not far, find a public parking lot with management staff in front of the large supermarket at home, park the car and then walk back.

Fortunately, this is daytime. As long as you don’t leave the main road and enter those small alleys, you won’t encounter people who openly rob.

When he came to an apartment building, Ronan looked at the house number and then took out his cell phone to make a call. The same as the previous few times, the message was still that the phone was down.

I had no choice but to go upstairs and knock on the door.

Ronan just wanted to enter an apartment building without a door, when suddenly a luggage bag fell from the second floor and hit the ground, bringing up a cloud of dust.

The foyer of this apartment building, I don’t know how long it has not been cleaned.

"I told you last month that I will pay the rent for the next quarter!" A man's loud voice exploded: "I have given you one month's allowance, and you still owe me one month's rent. I have enough of you!"

Then there was a woman's pleading voice.

Ronan looked up and saw nothing from this position, but he didn't dare to move forward. In case a suitcase was thrown down, he would have to play GG. It’s like a soul wear. Lucky appeared twice?

"Let's go! I don't want the rent!"

It sounds like the landlord is not bad, but the voice is very loud: "I advise you, get a proper job, and don't have celebrity dreams all day long. I see a lot of women who have such dreams, and I have to stand on the street in the end."

The words are not good, but they also tell the truth about many girls who come to Hollywood to pursue star dreams.

With the sound of footsteps, a petite woman in a rumpled beige suit and skirt came down the stairs and glanced up at Ronan. The face under the blonde hair was slightly embarrassed, and she lifted her luggage and walked towards the door.

Ronan quickly let the door open, and suddenly thought of the female editor who couldn't make the phone call. After the blonde woman came over, he tentatively asked: "Jessica Felton?"

The woman turned her head to look here, the face covered by the blonde hair made Ronan a little bit like she had seen it.

"I am not." The blonde woman showed two small rabbit teeth: "You have admitted the wrong person."

Ronan nodded: "Sorry, I'm sorry."

The blonde woman did not speak any more, and walked away with her luggage.

Ronan turned to look at her petite back, and shook his head as he entered the apartment.

Just like the dilemma he faced when he first came here, the bottom of Hollywood is full of various embarrassing losers. If you are lucky, you may turn around once, and you are almost lucky to go back and forth or enter the San Fernando Valley. An alternative actress, with bad luck, she eventually became a low-level businessman.

For Hollywood losers, not being able to pay rent or anything is not the most embarrassing situation.

Walking up the stairs to the second floor, Ronan saw a middle-aged black man and asked, "Hello, where does Miss Jessica Felton live?"

The black man looked at Ronan and pointed his big finger at the corridor: "The innermost room."

"Thank you."

Ronan walked through the corridor and arrived in front of the small apartment. He knocked on the door. The soundproofing of the door was very poor. Soon there were footsteps, and then the door was opened from inside.

The tops of the two mountain peaks are in the forefront, appearing from behind the door before the owner.

Because it is too big, it is difficult for Ronan to notice.

It is a kind of sadness for a man to look down and not see his feet, but a kind of pride for a woman to look down and not see his feet.

"Who are you looking for?" A slightly hoarse female voice sounded.

Ronan returned to his senses in an instant, and his eyes quickly moved up: "Are you Miss Jessica Felton?"

After asking the question, he also saw the owner of Mount Everest. This is a typical Latino with pale wheat skin, probably a mixed race, with very delicate facial features. To be precise, this is a pretty woman without makeup.

Unfortunately, this woman is too sloppy.

The long brown hair on his head looks like a pile of firewood, greasy and tying, and there are a few greasy spots on the gray T-shirt with a high chest. It should have been eaten on it, probably too long. They all changed color and turned black.

The Latina woman looked at Ronan with a strange look: "I am Jessica Felton, who are you?"

"I'm Ronan Anderson." Ronan proactively stretched out his right hand and said at the same time: "Professor Johnson from the USC Film School introduced me. He is my mentor."

Jessica reached out and shook Ronan, then opened the door: "The professor introduced you to me."

Ronan is not the kind of person who is obsessed with cleanliness, but he feels a little uncomfortable with his right hand, as if he has something greasy after shaking his hand.

This is a single-room apartment. As soon as Ronan entered, Jessica Felton said, "You sit down."

"Ok."

Ronan looked around, and had nowhere to sit.

The closest place is a dining table. There is a spoon with hot sauce on it, and there is a half-eaten burrito next to it. Seeing the appearance of this pancake, it should have been there for a while.

There is only a chair next to the dining table, and the chair holds the leftover takeout lunch box.

Looking forward, there is a small double bed with women's underwear with holes on it, and a few pairs of socks. I don't know how long the socks were changed before they were worn. One pair was almost standing there.

There is a clear sour smell in the whole room.

dirty, messy, bad...

Ronan instantly thought of the dormitory he lived in in high school. Many roommates like to soak their clothes and wash them after they have accumulated too much. As a result, they are too lazy to wash under the bed, and the soaking water smells stinky.

Finally, Ronan's gaze fell on the innermost set of equipment in the room, which was a small projector, a film clipper and a film splicer. The ground nearby was piled with 16mm and 35mm films.

As for the pieces of film cut off, there are as many as dust.

"That..." Jessica Felton scratched the messy hair: "I've been busy studying short-shot editing recently. I haven't cleaned it for a long time. I'm really sorry."

Ronan guessed how the greasy feeling on his hands came from, and smiled and waved his hand: "It's okay." He looked at the pile of garbage bags and takeaway boxes, and asked, "You haven't been out for a long time?"

Jessica Felton smiled embarrassedly, and said, "When I get busy, I forget the time."

Hearing this, combined with his observations, it is not difficult for Ronan to draw a conclusion that this Latin woman with a beautiful face and no feet can be seen, is a crazy technical nerd.

Is there a change in strategy?

It is impossible to use the same strategy to deal with the technical house and the old dough sticks in the circle.

Before he came over, he had done some drafts. How could he impress a talented editor who had no chance? One is to provide opportunities, such as editing publicly-released films, individual editor subtitles, etc.; the second is to offer a salary acceptable to both parties.

Looking at it now, it seems a bit inappropriate.

"You have something to do with me?"

The room was in such a mess. Jessica Felton didn't invite Ronan to sit down, and simply asked, "Is the professor looking for me? Ah, no, the professor will call me if he has something."

Ronan reminded: "I called you, you are down."

Jessica Felton patted her head: "I'm really confused."

Ronan became more sure that this was a technical house, and said, "Miss Felton, I am looking for you, and the tutor recommended you."

"Call me Jesse?" Jessica Felton does not lack the heartiness and enthusiasm of a Latin girl, "What are you looking for me?"

Ronan simply said: "I'm a producer. I invested in a horror film and lacked an editor. I went to find a tutor for help. The tutor said you are a good player in this area."

Speaking of editing, Jessica Felton got serious: "I am really good."

Ronan decided not to talk about the draft for the time being, and asked: "It's better to cut the film than to practice alone? Go to me and try it? I have finished this horror film, and I will make another one afterwards."

"Two films?" Jessica Felton became interested, and the formal editing of the film is not to hide in the nest to practice comparable, and quickly asked: "Is it a formal film?"

This person looks too young, he is still a student of the professor, isn’t it a student experiment film? That would be boring.

Ronan nodded: "The film that will be officially released in theaters The director of the film has been a director in "X Files", and his level is very high." He introduced himself: "I am the president of Shahai Entertainment , I am both a producer and investor in these two films."

"Okay!" Jessica hasn't cut a formal film for too long: "I did it!"

Ronan was a little surprised, so he agreed? Isn't it too simple?

"Your agent or agent's phone number?" Of course he would not show it, "I'll talk to them about your treatment."

Jessica shook her head directly: "No. I don't have an agent for the time being. I used to have one, who always called me and disturbed me. I kicked him. I can say anything about the treatment. Just cut the film."

Ronan tentatively asked: "A weekly salary of $2,000?"

This is not a random offer. In the past, Shahai Entertainment hired ordinary editors who edit video tapes and movies. This was basically the price.

Any position in the circle, ordinary and famous are completely two kinds of existence.

Jessica did not rush down, but asked: "Can you borrow your phone?"

Ronan took out the phone and handed it to her. Jessica immediately dialed a call after receiving it: "Professor, it's me, Jessica..."

Half a minute later, Jessie's cartoon was over, and he returned Roger's phone: "Okay, we're done."

Ronan nodded: "Whether you have time this week, you can come to the Warner Studios Studio 17 to sign a contract with me."

"No problem." Jessica responded readily.

Ronan made another polite sentence and left Jessica's small apartment. This time it was completely different from what he had imagined.

Originally, he thought it would take a lot of tongue and saw to deal with this obviously talented editor. Who would have thought it was so simple.
