TL: Moonlit

Lin Su’s tone was calm and composed, without any panic due to the sudden appearance of these two people.

Su Jin came out of the room pushing a chair and happened to hear Lin Su’s words. Immediately, his face changed and he walked over quickly: “Xiao Su, what’s going on? Aren’t they government officials?”

“Government officials?” Lin Su looked at Xie Bai and lightly curved her lips. “Is your father a government official?”

Xie Bai looked at the sudden appearance of Lin Su, his face filled with undisguised shock. He opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word.

“What does this mean? Do you know each other?” The older male standing beside them, the only one that Lin Su didn’t recognize, spoke with a smile on his lips, as if naturally bearing laugh lines. He asked the other young male with a smile, “What’s going on, Suge?”

The young male, whose name was mentioned, shifted his gaze away from Lin Su and quietly explained what had happened in the jewelry store.

Upon hearing this, Su Jin stepped in front of Lin Su, looking alertly at the three people. “If I had known it would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have let you in.”

“It’s not like that, I…” Xie Bai looked at the older male beside him, eager to defend himself, but was interrupted.

“I apologize for my son’s indiscretion and the trouble he has caused you. Let me introduce myself. My name is An Ye, currently serving as the Deputy Star Domain Chief of the North Star. I came here today intending to pay a visit, but I didn’t expect such a situation to occur.”

At this point, An Ye smiled gently. “How about this? I invite you all to dine at the North Star Radiant Glory Restaurant as a gesture of apology.”

As the only purified fruit and vegetable restaurant on the North Star, it had always had a great reputation.

Lin Su glanced at the three people indifferently, raised his hand, and patted Su Jin’s shoulder. “Female Father, Ding Ding is fixed. Let it help you carry the seeds into the house.”

“But…” Su Jin didn’t want to leave, worried that if he left, these three people would take advantage of Lin Su alone.

Lin Su smiled and said, “It’s okay, go.”

Su Jin nodded and said, “Call me if you need anything.”

“Okay.”

Ding Ding got off the car and effortlessly carried the seeds from the car, following behind Su Jin and returning to the house.

Leaning against the cart, Lin Su looked at An Ye with a casual posture, ignoring his invitation to dinner. “So, you are the ‘Father’ he mentioned, the Deputy Star Domain Chief.”

After uttering the words “Deputy Star Domain Chief,” Lin Su nodded lightly, a faint smile forming on his lips, revealing two adorable dimples on his cheeks. “I can’t afford your visit. Please leave. As for my transaction with North Star, I will handle it according to the agreement. No need for me to see you off.”

Lin Su gestured toward the gate, making her refusal clear.

Xie Bai looked at Lin Su, no longer daring to have any contempt for him in his heart. He couldn’t even believe that Lin Su, the important female who could change the fate of the empire, was the one his father referred to.

The reason he left behind the comfortable life in the capital star and came here was to meet Lin Su.

Because they were of the same age, it would be easier to build friendship. As long as he successfully won over Lin Su, their family’s position in the capital star would rise further.

However, because of his behavior in the jewelry store, this meeting was ruined. He dared not even look at An Ye’s face now.

“I’m sorry, I was ignorant just now. Please don’t judge me based on my actions. I really know I was wrong.”

Xie Bai suddenly apologized, and the smile on Lin Su’s face gradually faded. “I don’t accept your apology. You should know the reason in your heart, please.”

An Ye patted Xie Bai’s shoulder and said to Lin Su, “It’s my fault for not teaching my son properly and causing you trouble. We’ll leave for now, but I bought this gift specifically for you. I hope you can accept it.”

Looking at the familiar bag in An Ye’s hand, wasn’t it the fox pendant that Xie Bai was boasting about in the jewelry store not long ago?

Unexpectedly, after going around, this pendant appeared in front of him in this way.

Lin Su’s smile reappeared on his face. “I appreciate the gesture, but there’s no need. It wasn’t my choice to begin with.”

An Ye had to take back the gift and nodded lightly. “Alright.”

As he finished speaking, he glanced at Xie Bai and turned around, walking out of the gate.

Xie Bai almost wanted to cry when he saw An Ye’s gaze. He mechanically followed along and gave a brief nod to Lin Su before leaving.

Although they had only met briefly and hadn’t even spoken, Suge couldn’t help but develop a favorable impression of this straightforward and open-minded young female.

After watching their car drive away, Lin Su stood up and patted off the dust on his pants that he didn’t know when it got on. When he looked up, he saw Big Fox leaning against the doorway.

Meeting William’s gaze, he saw evident concern in his golden beast eyes. Lin Su felt warmed in his heart and walked over with a smile. “Did I worry you?”

William’s jaw tightened, his lips straightened, and he looked displeased as he nodded.

Lin Su suddenly found the sulking Big Fox adorable. Unable to resist, he took a couple more steps forward and reached out to pinch William’s furry dog ears. “If you’re worried, let me touch your ears. Ah, the feel of it… I feel like I could touch it forever. I bought you a gift. Guess what it is…”

“What are you doing, Xiao Su!” Su Jin, who came out of the room to check on Lin Su, saw his child playing with William at the door and immediately called him over. “Lin Su, come here with me.”

Seeing that even Su Jin was no longer calling her “Xiao Su,” Lin Su blinked at William, gesturing for him to go back to the room.

Turning around, he obediently said, “Female Father.”

Su Jin pretended to be serious and said, “William’s health isn’t fully recovered yet, so don’t bother him.”

Lin Su lowered his head, pretending to listen humbly, but stole glances at Su Jin when he nodded.

The little actions fell into Su Jin’s eyes, softening his heart. The slight shift in his feelings immediately tilted back towards his affection for their child. He couldn’t help but think, how could their child be so adorable!

What’s wrong with liking their partner? Nothing at all!

William grew up looking like that, wasn’t it to entice their little Su!

“Ahem, anyway, wait for him to get better… you understand?”

Lin Su pursed his lips, his lips curling up, and nodded. “Understood, Female Father.”

Su Jin couldn’t maintain his expression and rubbed his head with a smile. “Alright, go and rest for a while.”

“Okay, Female Father, I’ll come out later to help you with the chores.”

“There’s nothing left to do, just rest well.”

Watching Lin Su bounce into the house, Su Jin lightly laughed. Their child was truly too cute!

Lin Su pushed open the door and approached William, who was sitting on the bed, with a smile. The room was not lit, and the warm colors of the evening sun added a dreamy touch to the room.

William leaned against the headboard, his clear and refined face shining brightly in the alternating light and shadow, carrying a sense of mystery.

Lin Su pretended to be natural and said, “Female Father called me to discuss something. Oh, by the way, didn’t I say I brought a gift? You’ll definitely like it. Extend your hand.”

William’s gaze swept from the dimples at the corner of Lin Su’s lips, and he suppressed the throbbing in his eyes as he reached out his hand.

Lin Su placed his hand on William’s palm and slowly opened it, revealing a necklace with a small pendant hanging from it.

The exquisitely carved rose-shaped pendant was adorned with a dazzling red gem that shone brilliantly in the reflection of sunlight.

It was incredibly beautiful!

“I’ll help you put it on. I was hesitant about what kind of pendant would suit you, and then I saw this.” Lin Su leaned closer to William as he spoke. “Come closer and lower your head.”

William’s body slightly stiffened for a moment at his words, but then he slowly leaned towards Lin Su.

It was only when the scent of the pleasant fragrance emanating from the little female lingered in his breath that he stopped himself.

Lin Su raised his hand and half-encircled William in his embrace, tilting his head slightly. With a serious expression, he helped him put on the necklace.

When the beautifully crafted pendant hung down, Lin Su let go of his hand, his black eyes curved with dimples on his cheeks, and he smiled brightly. “I have a really good eye. This gem really complements you!”

He had said that William’s fair skin would look even more radiant with the color red.

If he had chosen that golden fox pendant back then, it would never have caught his eye like this.

“It looks really beautiful!”

Hearing the exclamation from the little female, William felt somewhat uncomfortable for the first time.

His dog ears, standing tall among his white hair, trembled, and the heat spread on his face. William glanced at Lin Su with a hesitant gaze, while the tip of his tail, hanging by his side, uncontrollably wrapped around Lin Su’s ankle, gently rubbing against it.

Lin Su, who was pleased with the flattery, hugged his large tail in his arms. “William, if you want to get close to me in the future, you don’t have to secretly rub against my ankle. You can be bolder!”

William’s dog ears suddenly froze, and he looked up at Linsu, his golden eyes revealing a subtle and almost imperceptible peculiarity.

The little female repeatedly hinted, would his behavior make Linsu think less of him?

Lin Su blinked his eyes, his pair of black pupils clear and transparent, exuding a purity that one couldn’t bear to defile.

As their eyes met, Lin Su smiled friendly towards William, and William’s golden beast-like eyes never failed to amaze him, no matter how many times he looked into them.

Pure and untainted gold, with a hint of exotic beauty shining through its clarity, it was irresistible to immerse oneself in.

Just as Lin Su couldn’t help but be fascinated by William’s eyes, he suddenly felt a tightening around his waist. Lin Su snapped back to reality and realized that at some point, the large tail that had been cradled in his arms had been snatched away. It was now coiled around his waist, while the tip of the tail remained in his hand, gently swaying and tickling his palm.

It was itchy.

The two of them engaged in intimate interactions, oblivious to the “chirp chirp” sound made by the long-eared rabbit, which stood on its hind legs by the side of the bed, trying to get Lin Su’s attention.

Due to its fear of William, the long-eared rabbit only dared to hop around the edge of the bed, making sure not to be too loud with its chirping.

Even so, this possessive fox pushed its dominance onto the unsuspecting rabbit, unnoticed by Lin Su!

But even as the rabbit snarled and showed off its fierceness, the other party remained unfazed. It was truly infuriating for the rabbit!

William completely disregarded the silly rabbit that only dared to make noise by the bed.

His mind was now completely occupied with the little female he couldn’t get enough of, holding his tail and not wanting to let go.

Lin Su still had some sanity left, not being blinded by the allure of this large, white fox’s tail. He remembered that his work was not yet finished.

After thoroughly indulging in playing with William’s large tail, Lin Su relaxed both physically and mentally and got up, saying, “It’s getting late, and I still have unfinished business. William, play with Tiao Tiao for a while.”

The long-eared rabbit squatting by the bed suddenly heard its name, but before it could get excited, Lin Su grabbed it and stuffed it into William’s arms.

For a moment, a fox and a rabbit exchanged resentful glances and turned their heads away.

When Lin Su left the room, they quickly separated as if they were being electrocuted.

The long-eared rabbit, once it landed on the bed, stood up and “chirped” at William, complaining.

Even though William couldn’t understand, from its body language and the intensity of its voice, one could tell that this foolish rabbit was complaining about him occupying Lin Su’s time for too long.

William disdainfully glanced at it without hiding his contempt. That little female belonged to him, and he could occupy him for as long as he wanted. Not only could he dominate him, but he could also do anything to him, anything!

How could a stupid rabbit compare?

A cold smirk formed in William’s heart. It was no match for him. He had no fear!

He gently touched the necklace hanging around his neck and cast a glance at the foolish rabbit.

The fox tail hanging on the edge of the bed perked up and swayed lightly.

The long-eared rabbit, who had been jumping around and berating William non-stop, stared at the golden necklace on the smelly fox’s neck with red eyes.

After a while, it let out a “chirp” sound, turned its body, and sullenly faced away from William, showing its final discontent.

Lin Su had no idea about the subtle power struggle between the fox and the rabbit in the room after he left.

After leaving the room, Lin Su went to the backyard, where he neatly placed the cleaned chicken that Su Jin had prepared to the side. He then divided the seeds he had brought back into two portions, one for his own use and the other for Mu’en, and purified them separately.

Once he was done, the night had grown late. After taking a bath and getting into bed, Lin Su naturally embraced the large fox’s tail and moved closer to William.

In the dark night, William opened his eyes, his golden beast-like eyes gleaming, silently watching the sleeping little female. He gently pulled him into his arms.

“Chirp!”

The cunning fox, the disdainful rabbit!

Xie Bai obediently followed An Ye back to their home on North Star. Several times along the way, he sought help from the nearby Suge with pleading eyes, but Suge ignored him every time.

After returning home, Suge spoke up, “It’s getting late, I’ll go back to my room and rest.”

An Ye nodded in response, “Alright, you’ve worked hard today, Suge.”

“You don’t have to be polite. It’s my job,” Suge replied without hesitation, then turned and left the hall.

Once Suge left, only An Ye and Xie Bai was left in the spacious room.

Xie Bai hadn’t spent much time with An Ye since he was raised in the Xie family. His biological parents, Xie Rong and An Ye, divorced shortly after he was born, and he was placed under the custody of the Xie family.

But An Ye was still his biological father, and he provided regular support for Xie Bai, even if they weren’t close, their relationship was not bad.

However, An Ye had a smiling face that appeared friendly and amicable, but in reality, he was not easy to get along with and could be strict in private.

An Ye always felt that Xie Bai, even as a female, was raised too indulgently and capriciously, lacking the resilience expected of a contract beastman.

If it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to establish a relationship with Lin Su, a female with special purification abilities, An Ye would never have allowed Xie Bai to come here.

Even though he was the deputy star domain chief of North Star, in reality, because of his status as an outsider, many people were wary of him, and he didn’t have much real power in his hands.

Even the information about individuals with special purification abilities on North Star was something he privately observed and inquired about.

An Ye had initially thought that Xie Bai and Lin Su were close in age, and it would be easier for young people to establish a relationship. As long as Lin Su developed an affinity for them, An Ye’s career would not only be stable on North Star, but he could also achieve great success upon returning to the capital star.

But unexpectedly, Xie Bai had messed things up.

Xie Bai stood in front of An Ye, his heart filled with unease and grievances. How could he have known that Lin Su would coincidentally go to the jewelry store, he simply didn’t like the feeling of others looking at the same thing.

Why was he so unlucky!

As An Ye silently stared at him, Xie Bai felt his scalp tingle. It would have been better if An Ye scolded him!

Staring at him like this only made him more frightened!

“Male Father, I…”

“You should go rest first,” An Ye interrupted.

Xie Bai was taken aback, “Huh?”

An Ye didn’t look at him and turned to go upstairs, leaving Xie Bai standing there at a loss.

He had been worried that An Ye would scold him, but now that An Ye didn’t say anything and just left, it made him feel even more uneasy and flustered.

By the time he had returned to his room after taking a shower, Suge was about to check the unread messages on the terminal when a sudden video invitation popped up, causing him to pause.

He regained his senses and accepted the video call. In the video, a figure in white appeared, a young male wearing a white coat and holding a thick book in his hand. He pulled out a chair, sat down, and his handsome features entered the screen, “Are you getting used to North Star?”

“It’s not bad. Did you send the video just to ask me that?” Suge replied. As a long-time friend of Lin Feng, he knew him quite well. Besides being enthusiastic about researching the treatment of mental disorders, Lin Feng was also particularly concerned about finding his missing younger brother from the Lin family.

Lin Feng’s face showed no embarrassment at being exposed, “Now that you know, tell me what you’ve heard and seen.”

Suge chuckled lightly, “I don’t have an obligation to report my work to you. Why don’t you just ask me directly if I’ve seen the person rumored to be missing? That would be more straightforward.”

Lin Feng shifted his gaze away from the book and looked at Suge with a hint of disdain, “Why are you so difficult to handle? The reports submitted from North Star, are they true?”

“I’m not sure if they’re true or not, but I did see that person,” Suge replied, unable to resist a smile when he thought of the young female he had met. “He’s a bit different from what you might imagine.”

Lin Feng took note of the smile on Suge’s face and raised an eyebrow slightly, “You seem a bit off. The data shows that the other party is already an adult and should have a partner. According to Imperial law, enticing a female with a partner can lead to imprisonment. Suge, don’t blame me for not reminding you. Moreover, your main task this time is to develop a relationship with the young female from the Xie family.”

Upon hearing the name Xie Bai, Suge’s expression turned unpleasant, “It’s impossible between me and him. Besides, you’re thinking too much. The female with the purifying ability, whom you mentioned, I had the fortune of meeting him today. His personality is much better than I imagined, and I think you would be surprised too. In short, it’s hard for anyone to dislike him. As for the purifying power with the soothing effect mentioned in the report submitted by North Star, I can’t determine its authenticity for now, and it’s not my task. If you want to know, find out for yourself!”

Lin Feng wasn’t easily provoked, “There are people investigating this matter, and I don’t need to worry about it. I just need to wait for the results. Since you don’t know, forget it. I wish you and Xie Bai a happy ending.”

“Hey!” Suge didn’t have a chance to retort before Lin Feng ended the call.

Just as he was about to call back and scold Lin Feng, he heard a knock on the door. Suge turned to look at the closed door, and besides the knocking, he also heard Xie Bai’s voice, “Suge, are you asleep? If you’re not, can you come out and talk to me?”

Suge placed the terminal on the table and lay down on the bed, sighing and closing his eyes.

He could sleep now.

Xie Bai stood at Suge’s door for a long time without a response and could only reluctantly go back.

Suge was the partner selected by the Xie family for him, and in two months, he would come of age and be able to form a bond. They could take advantage of this time to develop their relationship.

Xie Bai was quite satisfied with Suge. Even though he was a few years older, his military background, appearance, and family background were all a perfect match for him.

But Suge seemed a bit too shy, he even hesitated to talk to him.

It seemed that he would have to take the initiative again.
