Chapter 874 Red Coral Again?

From the way, Yao Ran had spoken to Old Madam Yao just now, it seemed that their relationship wasn't as good. If that was the case, there was no need to be polite.

She looked down on anyone who was nice to her.

After he finished talking, the entire atmosphere turned cold. Everyone turned to look at them.

"Madam, please accept the gift. It would be disrespectful if you don't accept the gift."

"That's right, Madame. President Yang isn't just anybody. I'm sure he'd be your grandson-in-law in the future. You better accept the gift."

"It wouldn't look good if you refuse."

"Besides, he's still a guest. You can't make him look bad in front of the others."

The guests came to persuade you one after the other.

It wouldn't be a wise move to offend Director Yang now.

"I'm sorry, but my family just couldn't accept this gift. It's just far too expensive. It wouldn't be easy to pay back. Thank you, Director Yang, but we just can't accept it."

Yao Rong also joined in upon seeing the tense atmosphere.

He couldn't make this situation even worse.

When Old Madam Yao saw that her youngest son had spoke up for her, she couldn't help but feel a little lighter in her heart.

What was so good about accepting the gift? If she really had accepted it, then wouldn't it mean that she was accepting the marriage between Yao Ran and Director Yang? What about Yao Tang? She couldn't just abandon her daughter!

Yao Ran couldn't just ignore her cousin!

They had already agreed on this beforehand. How could they turn back on their word?

"Humph!"

Director Yang scowled. "It's not like it's a good gift," he snapped. "It's just a broken coral. How could I even let you stand there and think about accepting the gift?"

If it wasn't for Yao Ran's medicine bottle, he wouldn't want anything to do with this old bat!

This Yao Family looked like they have come from the countryside.

It was just a small birthday present, yet they spent a long time deliberating over it. This was just petty! Just the sight of them was enough for them to make their stomach churn.

When he said made the surrounding guests purse their lips.

What family hadn't received a birthday present before?

The Yao Family was indeed the first family they had ever seen to refuse to accept the birthday gift. In other words, some may say that they were cautious. Others may argue that they were being too petty.

The guests couldn't help but whisper among themselves.

"This old lady really doesn't know how to treat her guests."

"Director Yang has been nothing but generous. It's a shame that he'd meet such an unapproachable person. He's really unlucky."

However, the guests were only discussing in whispers. After all, they were all invited to the Yao Family banquet. They couldn't speak ill of the host too openly.

In reality, most of them shared the same thoughts.

At that moment, the door of the hall swung open from the outside. A group of people walked in slowly, appearing imposing and intimidating. The one leading them was a man in white with a solemn expression.

"I wish you a long life, Old Madam Yao. We give you this white jade Buddha statue, followed by the famous Master Zhang Shi painting, as well as a top-grade red coral."

The group of people immediately piled in.

When they heard of the gifts, the crowd couldn't help but discuss amongst themselves.

"I wonder who gave this to her. It even includes a red coral."

"Luckily, I didn't give him any gifts related to red corals. Otherwise, I would be outdone."

"That's right. Look at how great of a gift Director Yang had given him. I couldn't even afford his gifts!"

Staring at the people who had just come out, Director Yang couldn't help but sneer in disdain.

It was obvious that one gift wasn't enough. They must've not invested in it as much. There were three gifts, and one of them actually was a red coral. It must be one of the cheap ones sold in the market.

Hiding the disdain in his eyes, he turned to the old woman. "Why not show the gifts so that I'll be able to broaden my knowledge as to what type of gifts you accept, Madam?"
