Chapter 3

Edited.

*Elijah*

I sighed as I looked up at the sky. Today the day was nice and sunny, but my mood was shit and all I wanted to do was curl up and just die. "What are you doing?" My friend, Kyle, asked.

"Trying to die," I answered. "I need more money to cover my tuition and pay the rent."

"That bad huh?" Kyle asked as he licked his popsicle.

"Yeah," I said and sighed. "Bro, if you find some job that pays better, let me know."

"Will do, Sir." He saluted and then went back to sucking on his popsicle. "Anyway, have you heard anything from Melvin?"

"If you like the guy, then ask him out. Don't make me your messenger." I rolled my eyes at him and squinted when I looked up, directly into the sun. "He might like you back."

"But there is a chance he might not." Kyle groaned. "I mean, I know he's Bi and all but that doesn't necessarily mean I am his type."

"I know, but I am his roommate and I think I do know what types he likes. Trust me when I say he's interested." I winked. Kyle burst out laughing and nodded.

"Okay, thanks, Eli." He smiled at me after our laughing fit.

I nodded and looked down at my watch. "Shit, classes are about to start again. I'll see you later!" I yelled as I ran towards the campus. I studied computer programming and was going to work at my top picked companies after I graduated, which one I haven't decided yet.

I quickly walked in the door and took my seat before the professor walked in. Mr. Cornwell didn't like students to be late, and if they were he'd give them an essay to write, it had to be at least ten pages long. Which I didn't need because I think I wrote too many essays already. I took out my laptop and then opened the software that we were assigned to work on. Fortunately, I didn't have to work with a partner because they would just slow me down.

I checked my phone and saw that I got a text from Melvin about a flyer that he found. I quickly texted him back saying that I'll check it out once I get home. Classes went on and as did my day. Kyle and I met after the last class and decided that we were going to hang out at my house until I had to go to work. "I hope he's not home," Kyle muttered as I parked my car.

"Shut up. It's going to be fine." I patted his back and then pushed him towards the building where my apartment was. Each building held four apartments. Mine was 56C, which was at the bottom. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen. It was a nice living space for two college students.

"How do you know? He could have a girl or a boy in there with him right now. He probably just fucked or something." Kyle rolled his eyes.

"Then deal with it since you won't fucking tell him," I mumbled lowly because I knew Melvin was home, and I didn't want to put my friend.

"Fine," Kyle rolled his eyes again. I unlocked the door and walked in. I saw a pair of black heels along with Melvin's favorite Nikes. Motherfucker did have a girl over. I thought as I walked in loudly to let them know there were people there. "I knew it."

"It's okay." I looked at him in pity. Poor guy, he has to watch the guy he's been crushing on since the second year of college fuck around with other people. "I am going to go change and then kick out Melvin and the woman. Be right back."

Kyle smiled slightly and went into the living room to watch TV. I was kind of mad at Melvin because he knew that Kyle liked him, but that son of a dick won't stop being a hoe. But that's none of my business until he hurt Kyle.

This love crap is tiring, that's why I prefer to focus on work rather than my love life.

When I came out of the shower, dressed and relaxed, I walked to Melvin's door. I knocked on it since I've learned my lesson to never just walk in. "What?" He barked.

"Is your buddy going to leave?" I asked. I heard a loud scoff coming from the girl. "Kyle is here and we are going to study. So we would like no outsiders or distractions. Thanks!"

I walked back to where Kyle was lounging and I popped down the bed to him. Kyle didn't look at the woman who was leaving but I did and if I were straight, I'd hit that. Before she left she looked at us and glared before putting in her shoes and slamming the door closed.

I looked down at the flyer Melvin got for me. It was for waiters, cooks, and other staff members at a new restaurant and they need staff ASAP. The pay was amazing and I knew that I was good at taking orders, not in a BDSM way, and I worked quickly, so I had a chance to get hired. I looked down at the number and mentally took a note to call later.

I looked over at Kyle and he sighed, he seemed tense when the girl was here. He seemed a bit more relaxed, that was until Melvin walked in with only sweatpants. He walked to the kitchen and took out orange juice and just drank it from the bottle. When he was done, he walked to us and sat beside me. "What are you guys studying?" He asked.

"It's none of your business." Kyle sneered. I guess he was pissed.

Kyle was about to lunge himself at Melvin before I grabbed his arm. "Calm down," I whispered to him before turning to Melvin. "Can you stop bringing your buddies home? And what we study has everything to do with school, which if you went, you would know." Melvin looked at me shocked and then he looked at Kyle, who turned his head away.

"Fine, Whatever," Melvin muttered before walking away. He went to his room and locked the door like he always does.

"See, he's never going to change," Kyle muttered before turning the TV volume higher.

"This is why I love working more than love itself." I joked and Kyle snorted unintentionally. "I got you to laugh. Lighten up, I am sure if Melvin changed, you would be the reason."

"You can't be sure of that," Kyle whispers.

"Yeah, but I do know both of you guys." I winked and Kyle smiled while nodding. The rest of that day, we watched shows, movies, and kind of worked on our assignment. Kyle stayed over so he was going to sleep on the couch. But before that, it was like a sleepover as a kid, we had fun and later on Melvin kind of joined us. Since Kyle was in a lighter mood, they didn't argue much, because Melvin looked at Kyle and me like we were idiots.

When I saw Melvin staring at Kyle's antics, I knew he had some sort of feelings for Kyle. Guess, some people are just shit at expressing their feelings. They would make it work if they tried and that would be the hilarious and awful thing to see them together, but I guess only time would tell.

I knew I was never going to have something like that, but I was happy with the life I had.
