The Entertainment Industry Waits For Our Divorce Chapter 79

The Forty-first Day — Separation (2)

During filming of “Benevolence”, a scene needed cardiopulmonary resuscitation to be performed on a patient, so the doctor specially taught them this during the training. She only did it with a mannequin in the class, and the doctor praised her. Liang Yan realized that a real person’s chest was much more challenging than a dummy when working with the real deal.

With her palm, Liang Yan pressed on the old lady’s chest. She kept in mind the ratio of chest compressions and artificial respiration — 30:2. After doing chest compressions 30 times, she lifted the old lady’s chin, pinched her nostrils, and then gave her artificial respiration.

The surrounding crowd watched Liang anxiously as she performed first aid.

Chest compression was particularly hard and physically demanding. Often, in emergency cases, several doctors and nurses alternated to achieve an effective depth of chest compressions. In Liang Yan’s case, she was very strong.

But she still felt very tired.

The ambulance hadn’t arrived yet.

So, Liang Yan had no choice but to grit her teeth and continue until her arms were numb and beads of sweat oozed from her forehead, only then did she hear the  sound of the ambulance.

The paramedics rushed out of the ambulance and took over, replacing Liang Yan’s hands. They carried the old lady away on a stretcher.

Several of the old lady’s dancing friends followed her onto the ambulance.

The ambulance drove away, siren blaring.

The crowd all focused on the ambulance as it sped away, and Liang Yan watched as well. Then, she  decided to hide this merit and was about  to blend in with the crowd when suddenly a reporter with a photographer came running over.

The elderlies were mostly idle every day with nothing to do, no one knew who called one of the local livelihood program tv stations in the city. The ambulance came first, and the TV station’s car arrived after.

Liang Yan shrunk her head, hiding, but the female reporter stopped her immediately and said, “This courageous young lady who rescued someone, can you stay for an interview?”

Liang Yan covered her face with her hand, and turned sideways to the camera and replied, “Sorry, I’m not the one you’re looking for. I didn’t act bravely.”

Female reporter: “Huh?”

At this moment, the elderly uncle who led the dance and watched Liang Yan perform CPR, came out to clarify, “Young lady, it was clearly you who saved someone’s life. Why are you not admitting it?”

When the female reporter heard the statement, she placed her microphone near Liang Yan’s chin. “Tell me about it, young lady. It’s good to be courageous.”

The elderly uncle seized Liang Yan’s wrist and dragged her in front of the camera. He said, “The young people of this generation can’t be helped, and they prefer to be anonymous when they do good deeds. How can that work? If you do good deeds, you must let everyone know you and praise you, so in the future, more young people will follow your footsteps! Don’t you think so?” The uncle asked the female reporter.

The female reporter replied, “Yes, yes! Young lady, how can you still be so shy after doing something good?”

Liang Yan: ".................."

Liang Yan was left with no choice and slowly removed the hand covering her face. The elderly uncle wouldn’t give up until she publicly accepted the praise.

She stared at the female reporter, and the latter(reporter) smiled at her with no look of surprise on her face.

Liang Yan: "???"

They didn’t know her?

It seemed that the reporter of the livelihood program didn’t recognize her? Since the reporter wasn’t in the entertainment field, it was reasonable not to know her.

The female reporter held up the microphone in her hand in front of Liang Yan’s face. She asked with a smile, “Young lady, what is your surname?”

Liang Yan glanced at the camera and answered awkwardly, “Surname… Liang.”

Female reporter: “Hello, Ms. Liang, the brave young lady. I heard that, usually, only elderlies come to this park. Why did you come here today?”

Liang Yan: My ex-husband asked me to come.

Female reporter: “They said that everyone panicked when the old lady collapsed, and it was you who stepped forward and bravely directed everyone to call the ambulance and gave the old lady first aid. Are you perhaps in the medical field? A medical worker? Or did you just have experience and knowledge in this area?”

Liang Yan: ".................."

Reluctantly, Liang Yan smiled and explained, “Recently… er… I had a play, ah no… I received a  job related to the medical field, so I underwent training.”

Female reporter: “Oh, so that’s the case. Then, can we ask Ms. Liang to give us a rundown of what happened briefly?”

Liang Yan: ".................."

Receiving the most awkward interview in her life, Liang Yan told the story of what happened and talked about her feelings until she ran out of words; only then, did the old uncle and the female reporter reluctantly let her go.

That night, the local TV station Minsheng News Channel broadcasted this interview: “Today, an old lady who was dancing in the square of NanJing park, suffered from an unexpected heart attack. Fortunately, thanks to the timely CPR of an enthusiastic citizen present, the lady was able to buy some time for the ambulance’s arrival. Please see the video of the interview of the enthusiastic citizen, Ms. Liang. Our reporter sent it.”

People who were in the scene during the day didn’t recognize Liang Yan, but when watching TV during the evening, there were always young people watching the Minsheng Channel with their elders.

The enthusiastic citizen — Ms. Liang — appeared on TV for an interview.

The TV station also showed videos of Ms. Liang giving CPR to the old lady, and the onlookers filmed her while she administered first aid.

Jiang Mu was at home, watching TV while running on the treadmill.

When he saw the enthusiastic citizen appearing on tv, he almost fell.

Jiang Mu immediately called Liang Yan, and before he could say anything, Liang Yan already said, “Yes, that’s me.”

They were silent for a few seconds.

Then, on Liang Yan’s mobile speaker, Jiang Mu’s shameless laughter rang out, “Hahahahahahahaha… enthusiastic citizen… Ms. Liang… my ass… oh oh oh… didn’t they… recognize you…. Hahahahaha….”

Liang  Yan retorted, “You still have the heart to laugh at your artist just because no one  recognizes her!?”

Jiang Mu struggled to control his laughter and said, “So, do you want me to buy a hot search233333?”

Liang Yan hung up and glanced at the hot search list with an expressionless face, “Buy my ass… it’s already there.”

“Enthusiastic citizen, Ms. Liang”, climbed onto the top of the hot search list and finally sat at number one.
