CH 17

I was in my classroom, eating lunch.

“Mr. Carlisle, are you there?”

The Magic teacher opened the door and walked in.

“The headmaster wants to see you. Please come with me.”

“Yes, sir!”

Gaius stood up quickly and rushed to the teacher.

“Of course, they want to talk with me, not with Ni-san.”

“Oh, no. It’s not you.”

“Huh?”

Gaius turned red up to his ears and mumbled as he walked back to his seat.

I get up and go to the teacher.

“Damn! I can’t believe you were chosen again! Damn it!”

“What are you so disappointed about? I just got called up.”

Gaius glares at me and walks out of the classroom.

“Let’s go.” The teacher leads me down the hallway of the school.

It was the first time I’d ever walked through the school building.

“What? What’s that? This place looks familiar.”

“You’re a student here, aren’t you?”

I’ve only been here for two days. I know very little about the school.

The structure of this school invokes a feeling of déjà vu.

After a while, I arrived at a room at the top of a tall tower.

“Go inside and wait. I’ll go get the headmaster.” I did as I was told, opened the door, and went inside.

The room was strangely decorated.

There were not only piles of books but also a telescope and a specimen of a lizard large enough to look up at.

“Hm? Who’s there… a child?”

A young girl sits on the sofa with long, fluffy purple hair and an innocent expression. Her big, round eyes make her look even younger.

‘Is she a relative of the headmaster’s?’

The little girl unfolds a parchment and reads it intently.

There was nowhere else to sit and wait, so I sat beside her.

“Yo.”

“………….”

The little girl rolls her eyes as she looks up from the parchment. But then she immediately returns a sophisticated smile.

“Hello.”

“What are you reading?”

This is just a Magic Scroll. By writing a magic circle on the parchment in advance, you can use

magic by channeling magical power through it.

“Hmmm… can I take a look.”

“Yeah, go ahead.”

I look at the magic circle on the parchment.

“What is this?”

“It’s a new magic circle I made just the other day.”

The magic circle was so poorly drawn.

“What’s wrong?”

“Can you lend me your pen? I will correct it for you.”

The young girl handed me a quill pen.

I made some changes to the magic circle to make it more efficient. When I showed her the corrected magic circle, she said with a twinkle in her eye.

“I see! By making a few changes to the circle, you can increase the power by 10 times and change the magic power conversion efficiency by 100 times! That’s amazing!”

You’ve got good eyes. You tend to draw many extra lines at the end of the circle. If you fix that, you can draw magic circles better.”

“Yes, I think I can do better! Thanks for the advice, Mr. Carlisle!” The little girl smiles, looks at me, and says.

“Hm? How do you know my name?”

Then the door to the room opens, and the teacher of magical studies walks in.

“The headmaster! If you are already in the room, please tell me!”

“Headmaster?”

The young girl straightens her back and says with a smile.

“I’m Alicia von Mathers, the head of this school.”
