CH 117

“Captain He, are you being kind to me because you love someone so much that you even care for the crows on his roof?”

Bai Chunian excelled at reading the tones and expressions of others. He had noticed it when He Suowei forbade him from getting anywhere close to the Lessa Tower while they were surrounding Golden Silk Spider at M Harbor.

He Suowei knew he had let something slip in the heat of the moment. Allowing a remark to slip in front of such a sensitive person would result in him connecting every tiny piece of evidence to determine the truth.

“Are you thinking of something to cover it up? It’s too late.” Bai Chunian stared into his gray wolf eyes. “I should have known. In the triangular pyramid cabin, you were stuck in the trap along with the two of them, but only you got hurt while they didn’t even have a scratch on them both. It turns out it’s not that they didn’t suffer any injuries, but rather that they were healed before meeting me.”

“Some experimental subjects’ reports were also missing from the nine grid bookshelf during the ATWL exam. You said you only took one copy, so where did the others go? We didn’t find them even though we managed to survive till the end.”

“They were actually in your hands, right? The report on the Hellhound Garms, He Wenxiao and He Wenyi.”

He Suowei’s expression stiffened.

“Isn’t it such a coincidence that I got a chip during the ATWL Exam that allows me to access the information of all the experimental subjects in the facility? But just before the computer could finish reading the chip, both of their blood levels got emptied, and they left the exam, which would cause me to not discover any abnormality.”

“No wonder they were able to corner 324 to the point where there was no way out. It turns out they were actually Hellhounds.”

Bai Chunian pushed him off and patted the dirt off his body.

“Do you really understand these kinds of creatures?” Bai Chunian stood up casually and continued, “Even young humans could single-handedly kill a chick, burn an ant with a magnifying glass, drag puppies by the neck with yarn, and poke the eyes of a kitten till it’s blind with sticks.”

“Don’t you give me those genteel, acerbic talks. What do you mean they didn’t?” He Suowei gripped the submachine gun tighter in both of his hands, pointing the gun at him, then continued. “You think that I don’t understand? I was the one who changed those two kids’ diapers. I brought them to the troop’s bathhouse to bathe, changed their long johns, and even wrapped the book covers for them for school. What do I not understand?”

The 109 Research Institute, which fostered human fertilization, did not expect the twins to awaken twin glands during the cultivation stage. Bodies that twin glands reside in could not work separately. And due to current technologies not being advanced enough to cultivate twin glands, once they realized that it would become a great hindrance to the institute, the twins were sold off during their cultivation stage and were only saved by the troop during a smuggling case.

Of course, this was no secret. Everyone knew who the two little wolves were, and they were brought up in the troop.

Bai Chunian found humor from the sight of his serious face. It looked like Lao He now thought that he had turned his back on the IOA.

“Not letting me near the Lessa Tower is to stop me from getting detected by the radar, right?” Bai Chunian fought to keep his lips from curling into a smile, but failed to do so in the end. “Captain He, you’re as easy to understand as water-boiled wontons, the kind that doesn’t even have spring onions.”

He Suowei ordered the members to cover themselves with blast shields as another howitzer fell from the sky, crashing down on the nearby oil tanker, detonating it. Raising his hand, Bai Chunian used his J1 ability, Bone Armor, on the members’ shield.

The shock wave brought about by the explosion of the oil tanker caused flaming scrap pieces of the carnage to fly everywhere. The Storm Special Forces stood still behind the protection of the strengthened shields, while endless burning pieces swept up and seemed to devour Bai Chunian’s body, lighting the dark night.

But when the fire receded, Bai Chunian was still standing there, the bloody gashes on his face healing. He lightly rotated his neck, pulling out a scrap piece stuck in his flesh, and like before, the wound healed immediately. Then, he turned around and walked away with his hands in his pockets.

“When you all came just now, Eris told me that he is an A3 alpha. Does he look like someone who would lie? Don’t waste your efforts. Captain He, are you addicted to coaxing children? Stop ordering me around.”

No matter what, maintaining stability was still PBB’s responsibility; they could not quit just because the target was powerful. He Suowei took out his communication device and ordered a small team to help evacuate people trapped in the collapsed buildings and other groups to help the International Police to capture Eris.

Originally, Eris held several Storm Special Forces teams at a stalemated fight because he thought it was fun. But when he saw the spectators turning away from him, panicking and fleeing from the arena, he slowly stopped and bolted away from the fight, wanting to chase the scattering audience but ultimately gave up in disappointment.

When Bai Chunian noticed his dampened mood, he called out to direct him toward the subway, “Come on, let’s take the subway.”

The line they were on was built just for tourists. It had scenic spots like museums and monuments along the way. There were also few people boarding this line during the off-season at the end of the year, but most importantly, the area they were in was completely sealed off, making it very easy to contain Eris if he went berserk.

Bai Chunian did not understand his power but knew of a rumor—over the years, the institute had produced more than 100,000 experimental subjects. But the middle numbers of the serial numbers of experimental subjects were rarely 10, once one appeared, disaster would strike.

Eris, turning a deaf ear towards Bai Chunian’s induction, raised the gun towards the PBB members and said in a low gloomy voice, “You guys scared away my fans.’”

A faint golden thread appeared on the wrist of the PBB member closest to him. Its existence appeared to be insignificant; you couldn’t touch it even if you tried to pull it.

The golden thread then connected from the first member to the second and continued to fly through the group, connecting ten people. Everyone could all see the thread but were unable to free themselves from it.

Bai Chunian got a hunch on what the golden thread was used for and fly-tackled Eris, pinning him to the ground. But Eris had already pulled the trigger in his hands, and because of Bai Chunian, the bullet missed its target and flew into the thighs of one of the members. As blood from the victim’s thigh exploded from a bloody hole, all ten of the members shouted in agony, their thighs sprouting the same wound as the one who was shot.

Cursemaker’s associated ability, Curse Thread: The target connected by the golden thread would suffer the same attacks. The golden thread could only connect up to ten targets at a time. When the distance between each target had gotten too far (more than 100 meters), the golden thread would break.

“Why did you stop me?” Eris pointed to the gun at the point in between Bai Chunian’s eyebrows and glared at him fiercely, “You’re with them?”

“Nonsense, I’m saving you.’ Bai Chunian pointed at the armed support helicopters continuously trailing their rear. “There are so many people, what do you think they would do if you killed their brethren?”

“Oh.” Eris helped Bai Chunian up and even patted off the dirt he had got on him.

The Storm Special Forces’ main team was pressing in, and a waft of rich male hormone pheromones floated in with the wind. Bai Chunian looked back and saw that He Suowei was using his M2 differentiation ability, trying to kill them.

North American Gray Wolf gland’s M2 differentiation ability, Wolf Cry Under the Moon: A strengthening-type ability. Could only be used deep in the night. All attributes of all allies within the range would be increased by 50%. There were no side effects, and the duration was determined by the gland’s energy.

With wolves being social animals, their characteristics were manifested in groups. The strength of one person increasing by 50% was not frightening, but here, He Suowei was the leader of the entire Storm Special Force.

Bai Chunian knew that the major who cherished talent would not reuse a person for no reason. The one who could become captain must be someone who could stand out among all of the elites in the Storm Special Force.

Eris was also shocked by this ability. Weaving golden threads with his hands, he brought himself to the top of a building.

Bai Chunian vigorously climbed along the outer wall of the building and approached Eris at the top. The police cars were not far from them. If he managed to hold Eris back a little longer, the drones with special anesthetic medicines would arrive.

But a tyrannical light shone in Eris’ eyes. He lay on the domed roof eagerly observing the ground, “They are all so small, just like little ants, crawling everywhere.”

A robust scent of pheromones was released from his body. Eris’s A3 differentiation ability was already activated the moment Bai Chunian grabbed him.

In an instant, the earth surged, and the ground submerged by darkness suddenly disappeared. The people on the ground were caught off guard and fell into the deep ravine, and some clung onto the edge of the deep pit and struggled to climb up.

Cursemaker’s A3 differentiation ability, Like the Abyss: Cause the grounds of the area that was plunged into darkness to disappear. The fallen humans would be forever sealed away and would be forced to face their greatest fear every second for the rest of their lives.

“What the fu…” Bai Chunian instinctively used his left hand to support himself up, and a rich brandy pheromone was diffused in an attempt to suppress Eris. But before he could even finish uttering the swear word, the night sky was suddenly bright as day. The full moon was replaced by the sun, the blazing light jumping in between clouds, and six suns appeared in the six directions of the sky at the same time, shining bright.

Under the strange scene, thunder roared, and storms poured. The pouring rain flooded countless streets in the city in a blink of an eye, and cars parked on the side of the road floated in the water.

The ground was suddenly showered with light, and Eris’s A3 ability, which relied on the darkness, was completely erased. Eris was left wondering what happened, with his mouth fixed in an O shape.

Another bolt of blue lightning crashed straight down from the sky, blinding everyone with bright light. Even Bai Chunian was forced to close his eyes.

But suddenly, he felt an icy hard object at his back waist, lightly holding Bai Chuninan’s arms behind his back in an instant.

Rimbaud held the Desert Eagle pistol in one hand, pointing into Bai Chunian’s back waist, the other hand reaching out from behind him to gently hold his jaw in place.

After the lightning, there was a deafening crack of thunder, which caused his ears to be filled with buzzing, and after a long time, he heard Rimbaud’s seductive and magnetic voice asking in his ear, “You’re so creative, is this teenage rebellion? Firstly after what you did to me, now you get thrown into jail behind my back. I’ll wait for you to get released before dealing with you. After all, I have all the time in the world, baby.”

Manta Ray’s A3 differentiation ability, Magic Sunlight Road: A nature control-type ability. Causes six suns to appear in the sky and six reflections to appear on any water surface simultaneously; giving the user the freedom to control all climates within the range of the twelve solar arc connections.

The soft fragrant body being so close to his back triggered the exciting memory in the bathroom, causing even Bai Chunian’s fingertips to blush bright red.

Rimbaud was teaching him how to get comfortable with his hands in the bathroom. But he learned too fast and even had some self-taught talent—he couldn’t hold back and used his tongue to passionately lick the transparent hole below Rimbaud’s scale.

At first, Rimbaud let him, but a while later Rimbaud told him to stop, probably due to the barbs on his tongue being too sharp.

But the aroused young alpha could not stop that easily. Luckily, Han Xingqian’s phone call snapped him out of it, and when he got a grip on himself, around ten pearls had already been scattered on the bathroom floor.

The thunderstorm still had not stopped, and Bai Chunian was held hostage by Rimbaud with a gun to his waist. On top of the bandages wrapped around his body, Rimbaud also wore a short bulletproof suit emblazoned with the IOA logo. He was there to capture Bai Chunian personally.
