Edina went red in the face and backed into the wall. Although Kanae had the urge to also charm the necromancer to taste a cute female beastling, seeing her hesitation reminded him of how she was never given a choice all this time. He didn't want to do that to her the same way those jerks did. They were supposed to be a party that trusted each other. Betraying that trust would make him no different from them.
Well, Arenade was another story. Sometimes she needed to be taken down a notch.
"Sorry, Edina. I only meant that as a joke— Well, kind of… if you ever… you know, want to… with me…" As Kanae apologized, he began to stutter and lose confidence. This hadn't happened in a while. For some reason, when trying to explain himself, he became fearful of messing up this new friendship with Edina.
The beastling, seemingly reassured by his apology, breathed a sigh of relief, and then balled both hands into fists as she resolved something in her mind.
"If… If you want to do it with me now… then—"
A commotion outside startled the group. Will quickly sheathed his lower sword and unsheathed his fighting one. They rushed out to find Edina's skeletons battling a much larger creature. It swatted the other two into a wall, their bones scattering away into a hundred pieces like shattering glass.
"That's a bone brute!" Edina exclaimed excitedly, not caring at all for her defeated undead minions. "It's so cool! I can't believe I'm seeing one in person for the first time. These things are at base, level 25 monsters. Once I'm level 30, I can create one myself! Ahh, I wish I could make this one mine!"
"Base level 25?!" Kanae choked.
The skeletal monstrosity was so large that the top of his head scraped the ceiling. Plates of bones covered the body like a full suit of armor. One strike from the clawed hands looked like they could deal some serious damage.
When Kanae's gaze flicked to Will, the paladin had taken an offensive stance and wasn't as dauntless compared to fighting the other undeads.
"This thing is dangerous. Stay behind me and provide support from a safe distance!" Will shouted, diving in to do battle with the bone brute. "Holy Smite!"
The spell that was supposed to be an undead monster's antithesis didn't do as much damage as anyone hoped. This was going to be a much harder battle than the rest.
Kanae snapped Arenade from the charm spell's control. The dazed demigoddess blinked a few times, then went for his throat.
"I hate you! I hate you! Stop charming me! You were seriously going to make me watch you guys have sex? Aaahhhh! How come you promised not to charm Edina, but you're always doing it to me?!" Arenade cried.
"We have bigger things to worry about!" He pointed to the bone brute.
The sight of the monster put the fear of death in Arenade.
She grabbed Edina by her robes and yelled, "Hey! This is your field of expertise, right? Do something about that!"
"I'm not high enough level to do anything about it! What about you, priest? Got any useful holy spells?" Edina fired back.
Everyone looked into their character sheet for something that might help. Of course, Kanae had nothing except for spells that were sexual in nature because of his seductress class.
"Alright, I got this! Holy Shock!" Arenade blasted a bright spell at the bone brute, but she succeeded in only charring the body.
Their situation was made more dire when Will took a bad hit and was sent crashing into the wall.
"Oh, by the Supreme One's hairy ass, get up! Heal, heal, heal!" She brought the paladin back to his feet to continue the fight, but it was obvious that the bone brute was a higher level than even him.
There had to be something they could do.
"Edina, what does your Bone Meal spell do?" Kanae asked.
"All it does is consume a minion to heal myself, which is not useful in this situation!" Edina answered in panic.
Seeing no help from the squirreling, Arenade violently shook Kanae for help.
"Kanae, I'm running out of mana! Do something!" Arenade demanded.
"What do you want me to do? Suck the damn thing's pelvic bone? Edina literally told us it's base level 25, and Turn Horny isn't going to give that thing an erection! At least… I don't think so?" Kanae replied, slightly unsure of himself and his succubus powers.
"Look, if you have to get boned so that I get out alive, you're a sacrifice I'm willing to make!" she said, shaking him even harder.
"Since when was my sacrifice your choice?!"
Will was knocked out again in Arenade's brief moment of distraction, so Kanae seized the opportunity to charm her, feed her a magic potion, and order her to continue healing.
That should give Kanae some time to think. The bone brute was clearly stronger than Will, and the rest of them had little to provide in the way of support.
There was only one option.
"Arenade, bind the monster with Plant Growth. We're making a run for it!" Kanae screamed.
The sparse vines along the walls grew thick and entangled the bone brute, but they wouldn't last long. Kanae and the others sprinted down the corridor. However, he came to an abrupt stop before falling into a hole in front of him.
"What are you doing? Keep running—" Arenade, who had been falling behind and didn't see the hole, slammed into everyone else and knocked them in.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the four screamed as they fell, clutching onto each other for dear life.
The fall curved into a slope and spat them out into a large, empty chamber with stone columns arranged evenly across the room which connected the ceiling.
"Is everyone okay?" Kanae asked and proceeded to receive nods from the three other party members.
He released the charm's hold on Arenade, and she came back to her senses with a pout.
"If you're going to keep charming me, you might as well make me a thrall. Because I'm not listening to you anymore. Hmph!" Arenade said.
"You can either heal us, or I'm sending you in solo to fight the next bone brute we find." Kanae folded his arms.
"Guh… okay…"
Instead of going at each other's throats, they began investigating the empty chamber for a way out. The damp moss-covered walls and pillars offered no switch, lever, or pressure plate like the trap that put them in this mess to begin with. There was also no telling if random doors were going to open and throw skeletons at them to fight either.
It eventually began to seem hopeless until Edina squealed from across the room.
"Did you find a way out?" Kanae asked as he, Arenade, and Will rushed up to her.
"Nope. Better! Look what I raised?" A small undead, skeletal rat without so much as a shred of flesh left on it climbed onto her shoulder and tilted its head at them. "Soooooo cute!"
"Ahhhh! We're doomed! I don't want to die in this god-forsaken tomb!" Arenade broke down wailing and thrashed around on the ground.
"If you quit now, you're going to be worse than useless," Kanae scolded her.
She stopped crying at once and stormed up to his face. "You know…Lately, you have been really rude to me. Someone like myself deserves worship and praise in order to truly shine!"
"What sort of spoiled princess line of thinking is that?" Edina remarked coldly.
In the most haughty fashion, Arenade leaned against the wall and put a hand to her chest. "Well, it just so happens that I am a—"
Before she could continue, the entire wall she was leaning on started opening. The groaning of stone grinding against each other assailed their ears. Before them, a new chamber had opened up, and there looked to be a figure and chest further down like loot at the end of a dungeon.
However, as they were about to go through, the same bone brute from earlier crashed down from the ceiling and roared at them. Everyone backed into the room they fell into as the monstrosity lumbered toward them.
"This thing is so damn persistent. If only…" Kanae hatched an idea. He rummaged through his bag and found Rosaline's mystery potions, then shoved the one labeled X into Arenade's hand. "Here, drink this! It'll help you kill that thing!"
Arenade shoved it back. "I'm not going anywhere near that thing. You drink it!"
"This came from a reputable alchemist in Orturic, so you can trust it. I won't get any experience killing the bone brute, but you will. Imagine all the levels you can get from killing that! I'm not going to charm you to drink it. I'm giving you that choice!" he urged.
The gears in her head were turning at last.
"You're right… Step aside, knaves!" Arenade drank the potion and pushed Will out of the way as the bone brute approached. "I'm feeling a bit tingly. I can feel power!"
As Arenade walked forward to face it, fists clenched and eyes full of determination, she— fell asleep.
"Eh?" Kanae and Edina uttered at the same time.
The bone brute, just as confused as they were, started poking the sleeping demigoddess.
"Uh… I still have potion Y and Z," Kanae said, pulling them out for Edina and Will.
"As if I'm drinking them after what happened to the idiot." Edina shot him down immediately.
Will grabbed Kanae and kissed him deeply. He hadn't ordered the paladin to do that. Taken aback by the aggressive affection and an invading tongue, he let it happen, going as far as leaning into it and pushing his own tongue in. When their lips parted, Kanae was beginning to really feel like a woman in soul and mind.
"W-Will?" Kanae blushed, wondering if Will had broken the charm spell on his own.
"You guys go on ahead while I distract the bone brute," Will said. "If you three manage to survive, then my sacrifice will be worth it."
The paladin faced the bone brute with renewed confidence, but before they jumped into battle, the skeletal rat leapt from Edina's shoulder and landed on the monster to the shock of everyone. It came as a surprise to the bone brute, too, as it stumbled away trying to catch the rat running up and down its ribcage.
"Now's our chance!" Kanae shouted.
They grabbed Arenade and pulled her into the newly opened chamber, then pulled on a lever on the other side, shutting the bone brute and rat inside forever.
Edina saluted the shut chamber. "I'll never forget your sacrifice, Micah."
"You named it already…?" Kanae raised a brow.
One of their members was passed out, and the other was suffering from the mental anguish of having his thunder stolen by a rat.
"So, how long have you not been under my charm?" Kanae asked the paladin.
"Well… Since the next morning. I'm sorry for fooling you. I-I just thought by staying with you is my best chance at having more sex. I can't help that I'm addicted to it now," Will confessed.
Then all that time, Will was just pretending to be under the charm just to be with him? It was almost romantic. Almost. Though Kanae wasn't really in the mood for an obsessively clingy boyfriend, Will's earlier heroics and willingness to sacrifice himself for others was… hot.
"Edina, unless you want to watch or join, I'm going to need some time with Will here to help sort something out," Kanae said.
"O-Oh. I'll, uh… go check further down the corridor." Edina briskly walked away.
With Edina gone and Arenade unconscious, Kanae stripped himself naked, pressed his body against the cool wall, and shook his butt at Will.
"Fuck me right now. I want your dick so badly," Kanae pleaded.
The paladin gulped hard and obliged. Both of them wasted no time fucking like animals, letting their moans echo down the halls and back.
