The beating wings of the dragon returned. Kanae slapped a hand over Arenade and Edina's mouths, and likewise the orc covered the mouths of his companions.
It landed in the riverbed, and they saw the large talons as the beast investigated the source of the screams. Cold sweat trickled down their foreheads. They gulped hard, hoping it wouldn't come this way. However, by a stroke of misfortune, it sniffed the air and swung its head toward them.
Staying would certainly make them all dragon food.
Kanae checked his character sheet for anything that might help.

As they fled deeper into the forest where the dragon would have a harder time flying within the dense canopy, the goblin, orc, and minotaur ended up fleeing alongside them.
"Beat it, punks!" Arenade shouted. "Go the other way or something!"
"W-We're trying to escape, too!" the goblin exclaimed.
"We can't hide in the city! Please, don't leave us alone!" The minotaur pressed his meaty hands together and begged.
Something about them was odd. They didn't sound at all like what they were.
The entire group squeezed their ears shut when the dragon roared and gave chase again.
"What if the six of us fight the dragon in earnest? I'd kill to have a personal undead dragon at my command!" Edina tugged at Kanae's arm for permission, but he and Arenade could only glare at her with bewildered shock.
Ignoring the squirreling's daring request, Kanae was getting tired. His chest hurt because his boobs were bouncing up and down so much from running, and without clothes on to keep them down, it was like being repeatedly slapped in the chest with a firm pillow. "It's coming!" the orc screamed, glancing up where the few breaks in the canopy showed the dragon flying overhead.
Although it could no longer chase them in, the dragon opened its jaws to unleash a breath of fire. Kanae, Arenade, and Edina halted at the edge of a steep cliff, but their unwanted followers, too distracted by the dragon above, slammed into their backs and sent them all falling.
"Oh, shit! Oh, shit! I have wings, so why can't I fly yet?!" Kanae complained.
"Kanae, Edina!" Arenade cried, reaching toward them.
It was the first time Kanae had seen her so panicked for their lives. He reached for her as well, not wanting to die just yet and to spend more time with them. As soon as the three of them clasped hands, Arenade casted the Plant Growth spell to extend a vine their way and catch them.
The weight and momentum from all three snapped the vine, and they landed hard on the ground, but not as painful since Arenade's quick thinking broke their fall.
Crashing through the trees were the other three. The minotaur landed first, then the orc, and finally the goblin. They didnt move, so Kanae assumed they were either dead or knocked out.
It seemed the dragon had given up the chase at last, but there was no telling if it would be back.
"Where are we?" Kanae asked, rubbing the back of his head.
"Oh, by the Many. Don't tell me we're lost. I need at least two baths a day to survive!" Arenade slumped down to her knees.
"I recognize this place!" Edina gasped. "There should be a cabin by a lake. Follow me!"
Immediately, the extra baggage came to consciousness as if on cue.
"Wasn't this the part where you heal us?!" the goblin asked.
"Yeah! You didn't even check if we were okay! How mean is that?" the orc said.
"No, no. You kind of intruded into our escape. Besides, you're perfectly fine, and I don't want to be seen traveling with your kind." Arenade raised her nose to the canopy.
Both of them lowered their heads in defeat.
The minotaur, however, didn't let up just yet. "We'll do anything! Please, just let us come with you. We don't want to be out here alone anymore!"
Kanae and Edina traded glances.
"Isn't living in the wilds where your people belong?" Edina asked.
"As if! I used to live in a studio apartment! I don't know the first thing about surviving in the forest!" the orc exclaimed.
Studio apartment?
"Wait a minute… What are each of your names?" Kanae asked.
"I'm Takumi," the goblin said, then pointed to the orc and minotaur to introduce them by turn. "That's Manabe and Keiichi."
Kanae quickly turned away from them, covering his own face. Their names came as a surprise and left him flabbergasted. Firstly, because those were clearly Japanese names like his own. Secondly, Takumi, Manabe, and Keiichi… They were common names in Japan, but he had a small group of friends in high school that had those exact names.
Could it…?
Did they not recognize him like this?
Kanae pulled Edina and Arenade aside. "I say we bring them with us for now. If the dragon or some other monster attacks us, at least we would be six members strong."
"Don't tell me… you're thinking about banging those things?" Arenade narrowed her gaze at him.
"No, I don't!" Although, he wasn't too sure himself. The last minotaur he met had a big dick, and…
"Well, if we're bringing them, let's go already!" Edina said, waving to them from afar with undeads leading the way.

When Kanae relayed the good news to the others, they were relieved to hear it and followed with joy.
Edina led them to a cabin situated by a small waterfall and lake which split into many small streams. A small break in the canopy casted light down at the waters. There was a fish rack by the rocks without any catches. It was clear this place had seen use, but not for some time.
"How did you even know where to find this place?" Kanae asked the squirreling.
"Hugo and those two bastards used this place as a hideout. They'd trick low level adventurers to join them and, well… They won't be doing that anymore, and If they hadn't come back, then good riddance. It's ours now." Edina put her shoulder against the door, but it wouldn't budge.
The minotaur named Keiichi offered to help and almost tore off the hinges opening it.
Wind poured into the cabin and out came a burst of stale, dusty air. Right through the door was a living room, with two wooden couches laid with large animal pelts. A fireplace long gone cold sat unlit and had a cooking cauldron hanging above the firewood, waiting to be used. A narrow stairway led to an upper floor. Three doors at the other end revealed a bedroom in each, sparsely furnished with only a bed and desk.
"This place has seen better days, but it won't take much to make it comfy again," Edina said, trying to ignite the fireplace to no avail. "I'm gonna go find kindling, so make yourselves at home!"
Even though this place should have bad memories for Edina, she seemed eager to provide a place for them to stay. It must be her way of trying to replace them with better memories now that she had a real party to adventure with.
"I will be taking a bath in that pristine lake. Don't any of you foul creatures dare peek. If you do, you better get a damn good look because it will be the last thing you ever see!" Arenade threatened, leaving Kanae alone with what these three could be considered vicious monsters in certain worlds.
"So… eep!" Kanae was instantly surrounded by them.

Their praise made him somewhat happy. At a glance, they did look scary. However, upon closer inspection, all of them were goofy in appearance. The seven-foot tall, obsidian fur minotaur clopped happily on his hooves. The green orc, who was a head shorter than the minotaur, had a very round nose and two lower incisors that rested outside of his upper lip due to a slightly larger underbite. Then there was the goblin, who wasn't exactly as ugly, but just looked like a green human midget.
"This is going to sound weird, but… You're Ichi, right?" Kanae asked the minotaur.
"How do you know my nickname? I haven't heard that since high school." Keiichi took a step back.
"It is you guys! It's me, Kanae! Kanae Toyomi from high school!"
They crowded right up against Kanae's face and squinted, then finally came the recognition. "K-Kanae? You're a succubus?!"
The four of them settled down and took a seat before someone passed out from lightheadedness at their serendipitous meeting.

"Our lives sucked, man! I worked at a black company for chrissakes. One day, some black-hooded lady gave us a card, saying we could live in another world like in manga and anime, but we needed to die for her pleasure first," Takumi explained.
