"Guys, there's a fire all around us!" Edina said, emerging from her room with a cloth over her mouth.
They shook Manabe and Ichi awake, got dressed, then raced outside to find the surrounding trees were engulfed in flames and threatened to set the cabin on fire.
"Kanae!" Takumi shoved Kanae out of the way just as burning branches collapsed onto where he was just standing, burying the goblin in fiery debris.
"Takumi, no!"
The fire was too hot for any of them to pull off.
"Create Undead!" Edina summoned a small army of undead to throw the burning branches away, revealing a very hurt Takumi.
"Is… Kanae okay…?" he asked weakly.
"Don't talk, ugly. I'll heal you, so stay quiet!" Arenade exclaimed, putting her glowing hands on his small body. "But what do we do? We're dead if we stay!"
The culprit of the fire showed himself, descending from the canopy that was now burnt open from the flames. The dragon landed between them and the lake.
"It found us!" Manabe and Ichi cried.
"You hurt Takumi…" Kanae growled, standing up to face the dragon as anger boiled up within him. "I'm going to drain you dry of every bit of experience!"
"There is no need."
Everyone, including the dragon, turned to the burning treeline where a silhouette was emerging from the sea of fire.
Estaline, the Knight of Silver, moving faster than a blur, brought her greatsword down on the dragon with crushing force. However, the beast slipped away and only suffered a large gash wound on the side of its abdomen.
Roaring in pain, it retaliated with a breath of fire, but Estaline used her own sword as a shield and charged forward. Seemingly outmatched, the dragon took flight in retreat.
"We're… We're saved…" Edina sighed, dropping to her knees and de-summoning her undeads.
One danger had passed, and although the party was at first relieved to have been saved, another dilemma presented itself. The knight pointed her sword at Kanae.
"I remember you. You're a succubus? A dangerous one at that to have infiltrated the adventurer's hall of Orturic. To think, chasing the dragon would lead me to another, more dangerous creature. In the name of the Knights of Color, I shall slay you where you stand, demon!" Estaline declared.
