Chapter 206 - Soul To Sell

Feng Xuan was so excited that she barely slept. She made Qing Chen drop her off at Wang Yimin's wherein she found the couple just finishing up their breakfast.

"I have a brilliant idea!" she said and sat at the other end of the table. "We're finally going to steal some coverage from Rosa Chiaro."

Zhou Shan, Wang Yimin's husband, was already in his suit. Feng Xuan just realized this must how she and Qing Chen look in the mornings. "I think I need to leave the two of you alone. It'll be bad to stop the flow."

Wang Yimin nodded. "Right," she answered still chewing and tilted her head as Zhou Shan bent down to kiss her. "Love you."

"Love you," he replied. He said his farewells and then he was out of the house.

Feng Xuan commented, "You know, I thought being married would make me comfortable seeing other people kiss. I thought wrong."

Wang Yimin laughed and waved a maid over to clean the table. "Let's go to the living room," she said, taking a cup with her. "You know I haven't taken a shower yet."

"I don't care how you smell."

Just as they reach the living room, there was a sound of the engine in the driveway. Moments later, a bespectacled Liu Meilien entered the door. "Am I late?" she asked.

"Do you look like you're late?" laughed Wang Yimin and gestured to her silk nighties and robe. "You're even far better than I am."

Liu Meilien closed the door behind her. She was wearing a wool dress that covered her neck and arms. Her feet were clad in thigh-high boots.

"Oh heavens," Feng Xuan said. "How I wish I look as pretty as you in the mornings." She was wearing a pair of loose high-waisted pants and a long-sleeved cropped top that exposed her midriff.

"What's this breakthrough that you have?" asked Wang Yimin and settled herself on the sofa. Liu Meilien followed.

Feng Xuan turned her attention to her step-sister. "Since you're the ambassadress, it's your soul we're going to sell."

The only thing that came out of Liu Meilien's lips was, "What?!"

**

"I mean, come on, it's a great idea!" Feng Xuan said as she was done scribbling her plan on the whiteboard. "Don't you think so?"

"I think it can be pretty good," answered Wang Yimin.

Liu Meilien raised her eyebrows. She knew it was good but… mainly she was nervous. "So… on the 7th you want me to go and have a live doc.u.mented date with someone and we'll be followed by reporters and journalists?"

Feng Xuan nodded. "We'll call it 'A Day of Firsts'—since you haven't really dated anyone—and for that day, the date would be filled with activities you haven't tried yet. We're going to have to start marketing the idea first. We'll set up a short interview that would somehow lean on the talk of your love life then we'll wait for the outrage of the people 'why haven't you dated anyone? Can I go on a date with you instead?' you know that kind of thing."

Liu Meilien let out a light laugh with how enthusiastic Feng Xuan looked. Her eyes were wide and she seemed like she was glowing.

"What do you say?" Feng Xuan asked.

Then the question that she was most afraid of came out of her lips. "Who am I going to date?"

"We're going to get to that today—only if you say yes. But if you don't like this idea we can just crumple this all up and toss it in the trash. I wouldn't want you to do something that you're not comfortable with."

"You do," she joked.

Feng Xuan rode along. "Yes, I do. But of course, the final answer is still yours."

"What do you think, ambassadress?" Wang Yimin asked. "Are you ready to go on your first date?"

Aside from being nervous, Liu Meilien was excited. "Yes."

**

The two started ahead looking for potential dates for Liu Meilien while Wang Yimin showered upstairs.

"This is nuts," said Feng Xuan. "I didn't know there are these many models in Chengshi alone. Is this what people want to do nowadays?"

"It pays good money when you're popular."

"When you're not?"

"Then you have to go begging people to hire you."

"Tough business," commented Feng Xuan as she swiped on the iPad. She kept looking at these faces… sure, they were handsome and had good bodies, but it was not the only thing that they would be looking for. They needed someone with substance—someone Liu Meilien would be comfortable with. "Don't you have any male friends in this industry?"

"I do," she said. "But we're really on the friends level and it would be hardly believable that we're trying to build chemistry."

Feng Xuan was impatiently tapping her feet when Wang Yimin finally came down in fresh clothes. "What about outside the business? An ex-schoolmate perhaps?"

Liu Meilien shook her head. "Mother made me cut ties with them when I finished school." Her mother said that her friends no longer deserve her and she would have no need for them. The only people she needed to be friends with were the people in the same social circle as them.

"Any potential suitors?"

Liu Meilien wished she had applied to much blush so the heating of her cheeks would not show. She had been getting messages and presents from some people ever since she had gotten the deal with YANG. "I don't know most of them. But I can try to see if some of them would be up for interview."

"You clearly look uncomfortable," said Wang Yimin. "Next category."

"What if we skip on the models and actors?" suggested Feng Xuan. "It would look too scripted."

"Right," Wang Yimin seconded. "Should we open the date to the public?"

Feng Xuan was wrestling with this idea since last night. She wasn't sure but she took the shot. "What about Qing Lok?"
