CH 119

Chapter 119: I’d Like To Take You Somewhere.

“Don’t go!”

The scream echoed so abruptly that it startled Qi Ci, causing him to unintentionally take half a step forward. Luckily, Qi Ci was able to stabilize his body in time, so he didn’t fall into the spring.

Then, Qi Ci turned around, only to see a very familiar face.

Bian Zhonghua looked at him. His ever-smiling eyes now revealed panic and confusion.

“Bian Zhonghua.” Qi Ci unconsciously walked towards Bian Zhonghua, but when he realized what he was doing, he stopped in his tracks.

It was unknown whether it was due to the terrible nightmare Qi Ci had experienced not long ago, in which excruciating pain had accumulated in his flesh and blood, that had caused Qi Ci to stop. After all, upon seeing him, Qi Ci was unexpectedly frightened.

“Don’t jump.” Bian Zhonghua looked at Qi Ci and said with a soft tone of voice, as if he was afraid of disturbing Qi Ci. That tone of voice was actually a desperate plea.

“Qi Ci, do you still remember the legend of the Buried Dragon Lake?” The young man at Qi Ci’s side slowly opened his mouth and said: “Actually, that’s not a legend. It’s an event that actually took place, and it’s about you and Demon Emperor Zhonghua. Qi Ci, you aren’t an ordinary human, you are the ninth son of the Dragon King, Chiwen.”

Qi Ci’s eyes widened in surprise.

Suddenly, something popped up in his mind.

Qi Ci suddenly remembered the bottom of that quiet, dark lake. That day, he had miraculously returned from the dead. Qi Ci also remembered the huge blue-scaled Dragon with red eyes lying curled up at the bottom of the lake.

‘That was….’

‘That was my Dragon soul.’

“Argh!” Qi Ci suddenly groaned in pain, a pain so terrible that he had to kneel down to hold his head exploding in pain.

“Qi Ci!!!” Bian Zhonghua took a step forward, only to suddenly stop. There, hanging dangerously close to Qi Ci’s neck, the young man behind him held a sharp black sword. As long as Bian Zhonghua made the slightest move, the young man would hurt Qi Ci.

But Qi Ci was unable to see the black sword held by the young man behind him, completely unaware of the danger he was in right now.

“Qi Ci.” The young man extended a hand and pressed it on Qi Ci’s shoulder. “Jump into the Spring of Three Lifetimes. Remember the past that belongs to you.”

“I….” Qi Ci turned to look at the spring.

However, Bian Zhonghua suddenly shouted: “Qi Ci!!!”

Qi Ci turned his head again, only to meet with Bian Zhonghua’s eyes.

Bian Zhonghua shook his head, and with a pleading tone, he begged: “Believe in me. Don’t jump, that….”

“Demon Emperor Zhonghua.” The young man suddenly interrupted what Bian Zhonghua wanted to warn Qi Ci about. The young man slowly moved the sharp blade of the black sword towards Qi Ci’s chest, proving that as long as he moved the sword an inch further, it would pierce Qi Ci’s chest. The young man continued: “I advise you not to say anything irrelevant. Besides, why are you so afraid of Qi Ci recovering his past memories? Qi Ci, why don’t you ask him?”

At that instant, Qi Ci’s headache subsided a little, allowing him to slowly stand up. Qi Ci then looked at Bian Zhonghua, but didn’t speak. In fact, it didn’t seem as if he didn’t know what to say, but rather that he didn’t have anything to say.

“Come on, ask him if he has ever imprisoned you in your past life.” The young man put his hands behind his back as if he were enjoying a good show.

Ask him!

Quickly ask him!

Deafening screams reached Qi Ci’s ears, as if someone was desperately urging him to do something. This only made the headache reappear.

“Qi Ci, do you believe me?” Bian Zhonghua said as he held out his hand to Qi Ci. Bian Zhonghua was being so cautious that it seemed as if he was bitterly pleading with him, as if he was walking on thin ice.

“I do.” Qi Ci slowly opened his mouth and asked: “But, did you really imprison me?”

Bian Zhonghua froze for a moment, running out of breath. Right as he was about to say something, the young man interrupted him to say: “Demon Emperor Zhonghua, don’t say more than necessary. Just answer Qi Ci’s question correctly.”

The hand that Bian Zhonghua had extended was gradually clenched into a fist, until it finally dropped weakly hanging at his side. Bian Zhonghua looked carefully at Qi Ci, as if he would disappear in the blink of an eye. Finally, Bian Zhonghua opened his mouth and replied: “I imprisoned you…..”

Qi Ci froze.

“Go on, ask him! Ask him if he was the one who ripped out your Dragon bones!” The young man’s voice suddenly rose, incessantly echoing throughout the seemingly quiet and peaceful landscape.

“Was it you?” Qi Ci repeated the question.

Bian Zhonghua fell completely silent. But when he saw the sharp blade of the black sword come dangerously close to Qi Ci again, he clenched his teeth tightly and replied: “Yes.”

“The one who killed his elder brother, was it or wasn’t it you?”

Bian Zhonghua’s voice at that moment was so hoarse that it was somewhat difficult to understand. But after closing his eyes for what seemed like an eternity, he finally replied: “Yes….”

The young man turned his head to look at Qi Ci and said: “See? This is why he doesn’t want you to get your memories back. This is why he doesn’t want you to jump into the Spring of Three Lifetimes.”

Qi Ci looked at the young man and nodded: “I understand.”

“Qi Ci….” Utterly panicked, Bian Zhonghua shouted again: “Don’t jump!”

But this time, Qi Ci no longer looked at him. Instead, he turned to look at the calm Spring of Three Lifetimes.

Qi Ci inhaled deeply, but out of nowhere, he pushed the young man beside him into the spring! Then he wildly ran towards Bian Zhonghua!

No one expected that Qi Ci would do this. The young man was so caught by surprise that he ended up falling into the spring. As soon as he touched the water, the surface of the spring distorted, turning into a pool of blood!

This wasn’t the Spring of Three Lifetimes, it was a puddle of putrid blood that was filled with poisonous snakes and insects! As soon as you fell into it, you would be torn to pieces and you would suffer excruciating pain!!

The young man’s body twisted for a while, but soon it took the form of a black mist that flew at full speed towards Qi Ci. Brimming with anger, the black mist shouted: “You tricked me!!!”

As he ran, Qi Ci turned his head around, only to see the disgusting pool of blood where the spring used to be. Even though he was really scared and was unable to stop shaking, Qi Ci was even more dissatisfied with the black mist’s words: “Who tricked who, huh?!”

Then, Qi Ci crashed into the arms of a person.

With trembling arms and a face filled with disbelief and surprise, Bian Zhonghua made sure to hug him as tight as he could.

However, neither of them had enough time to relax, as Hundun pounced on them with a high-pitched scream. This scream exposed Hundun’s irritability for not being able to get his way.

Bian Zhonghua protected Qi Ci by putting him behind him. Bian Zhonghua then summoned his glowing silver sword, and when he swung it to attack Hundun, his clothes seemed to float in the air.

At that instant, a silver light and a black mist collided with each other. However, from that confrontation, the silver light shone with a blinding gleam, turning Hundun’s angry screams into cries of pain. This dazzling light hurt Qi Ci’s eyes, leaving him with no choice but to close his eyes.

When Qi Ci opened his eyes again, he found out that he had gone back to his wing room.

Qi Ci noticed that the floor of the room was covered with broken pieces of porcelain and spilled tea. In front of him, Bian Zhonghua had bent down to pick up a yellow paper talisman from the floor. After picking up the talisman, Bian Zhonghua turned his gaze toward Qi Ci.

The two men looked at each other without saying a word.

It was already early in the morning, and it was just dawning outside, so the morning light had yet to penetrate through the windows. Because of that, the wing room was still somewhat dark.

Right at that instant, Qi Ci noticed the wound on Bian Zhonghua’s shoulder, so he couldn’t help but pull him to take a closer look: “You’re injured! Quickly, let’s go get a physician to treat you!”

However, as soon as Qi Ci finished speaking, his wrist was grabbed by Bian Zhonghua. As Bian Zhonghua was still a little scared, with a trembling voice, he asked: “You…. why didn’t you jump….?”

Qi Ci answered him seriously: “Bian Zhonghua, if I couldn’t believe in you, how could I then claim to love you?”

Bian Zhonghua was rendered speechless. But he then reached out his arms to hug Qi Ci in a tight embrace.

Qi Ci hugged him back, and when he closed his eyes, he felt once again the calmness he had always felt by his side.

However, at that very moment, Bian Zhonghua’s eyes sank. It was as if he had secretly made a decision.

After sealing Hundun, Bian Zhonghua didn’t hesitate to travel to the East Sea, where he sank into its depths the sealing talismans of Taowu, Taotie and Hundun.

As soon as he finished handling the matter of the Four Fierce Beasts, Bian Zhonghua returned to the Capital.

At the same time, in the Capital, Qi Ci was playing chess with State Master Li in the Secret Servants’ Residence.

Knowing that Qin Yicang and Lin Baihu were safe, and that Hundun had been sealed, State Master Li had no further concerns. Therefore, State Master Li transferred Qin Yicang’s curse to himself, with the intention of fulfilling the agreement he had made with Empress Dowager Xianyi. Assist the Crown Prince, now Emperor, until his death.

Qi Ci wasn’t good at chess, so when he saw his white pieces fall into a dead end, he had to bring his hand to his chin and ponder his next move on the chessboard. State Master Li stroked his white beard and didn’t urge him to make a move. On the contrary, he displayed a calm and relaxed appearance.

Suddenly, a hand reached behind Qi Ci and made a move.

When Qi Ci turned his head, he saw Bian Zhonghua standing behind him with a big smile on his face.

After the chess move, State Master Li looked at the chessboard in amazement, for which he praised: “Wonderful! Splendid!”

As Bian Zhonghua noticed that State Master Li was focused on the chessboard, he seized the opportunity to raise Qi Ci’s chin with his fingers. Then, Bian Zhonghua quickly bowed his head to kiss Qi Ci while State Master Li paid no attention to them.

""

At first, Qi Ci acted as if there was nothing wrong. But after that bold move, Qi Ci hurried to block Bian Zhonghua’s advance and restrain himself.

At that reaction, behind Qi Ci, Bian Zhonghua laughed softly.

Qi Ci then tilted his head in embarrassment, only to find a crack in the ground.

“Little Gongzi.” Bian Zhonghua, who was still standing behind Qi Ci, leaned over and whispered in his ear: “I’d like to take you somewhere.”
