Chapter 262 Good As Any

Aion used Force Release and charged at the enemy. When he reached the purple mist, he felt his parameters decreasing as well as his health, mana, and stamina being drained as well… that was going to be harder than he thought. Still, his options weren't limited and only that much he could take.

"This enemy is seriously bad news…" Aion thought.

Before Aion could get any closer, the enemy blocked his path by aiming their hands at him, and the mist began to move toward him while the enemy was moving away. Aion zigzagged to dodge them, but that worked to prevent the large concentrations of the mist. However, his health, mana, and stamina still were dropping…

While clicking his tongue, Aion suddenly made an ice wall appear behind the enemy, and while they managed to feel and avoid colliding against it, Sauros and Seris hit the enemy with their weapons. The electric bullets paralyzed the enemy for a fraction of a second, and then Aion used Sonic Throw.

The weapon hit the enemy's chest, but it didn't pierce it. Still, it bought Aion enough time to approach and then grab his spear before using Triple Sonic Thrust. The spear hit the enemy's head three times before it made it fly to the distance… however, the enemy still pointed its hands, and the mist flew toward Aion.

Aion clicked his tongue again and then surrounded the enemy with several ice walls, forcing them to escape by flying toward Aion. Still, when the enemy moved, Aion closed the wall and froze the enemy with a blast of cold wind. The next moment, he swung his spear down and killed the enemy by splitting it in half.

You obtained 20.000 experience points.

"I guess I must thank my ancestor for giving me a chance to get so much experience… it probably wasn't her intention, though," Aion thought.

Sauros rushed to check the enemy before it could become shadows and then disappeared, but he failed… he must like quite a bit of doing his work, despite saying what he said to Aion before.

"An enemy that didn't die after losing its head…" Sauros rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "What kind of mutation would make someone become able to survive without their head…"

The lich type… those could survive even without their heart, but losing says that they wouldn't live good lives while their bodies rot until they become bones.

In any case, Aion was curious about what one had to do to become like that, not like he was planning to do that himself. He liked his current healthy-looking body quite a bit.

Aion turned around to climb the stairs, but then his eyes began to spin… his body was still poisoned, and he had to clear his system… the effects of the poison were losing power, but he would lose too much stamina and mana if he let it be.

"... Hold this. It will help you get rid of the poison," Seris said while passing a bracelet to Aion.

"Thanks," Aion said.

"Humph, don't get the wrong idea," Seris said. "I am just using you to finish the job faster."

What a more tsundere-like thing to say… Seris was still pissed, and it had been a month since she got pissed. She sure likes to waste energy on pointless things. At least, that was what Aion thought.

In any case, the bracelet had a rune that expelled the poison from Aion's body without consuming his mana. That was pretty handy since Aion could use that to recover his health and meditate at the same time.

Once Aion confirmed that his energy had stopped falling, he got up and then returned the bracelet before heading to the next floor. Around one and a half hours had passed since they entered the tower. The pace seemed good enough, and Aion even leveled up a few times, but he still wanted more… he had to be careful, though. Since the previous enemy showed that they would have to deal with some surprises.

"What do you think we are going to see until we reach the top of the tower?" Seris asked.

"It is hard to say. I don't know what kind of materials his ancestor had access to when she was alive… we don't have any idea for how long she was alive in the first place, so we might end up faxing a few hundred enemies…" Sauros replied. "For the time being, Aion is doing fine by himself, but soon, he will need our help."

"I upgraded the weapons to help us charge energy faster, so we'll probably do more than we did at the dungeon, but we will waste energy faster as well," Seris said. "When the time comes, you should tell him properly that we will need a few hours to rest. The way he usually is, he might get killed out of stupidity and take us with him."

"I can hear you, you know," Aion said when he began to climb the stairs. "I guess I need to remind you that the only time you got hurt was due to your own carelessness."

"It couldn't have been helped since the enemy could get invisible," Seris said.

"I guess that excuse is as good as any," Aion shrugged.

"What did you say?" Seris asked while a vein on her forehead was bulging.

"Let's not fight, alright?" Sauros asked. "This isn't the time nor the place for that. Besides, we all already determined that both of you made mistakes during that time. Let's just learn from our mistakes and move on with our lives as proper adults. Don't hold grudges."

Aion wasn't holding any grudges that were supposed to be said to Seris… that being said, those words made Aion have a sudden flash of inspiration… he might have come up with an answer to the enemies that were going to show up. A way of doing this efficiently while also focusing on the Lancer class.
