Chapter 170 - TANG REINE: ZHENYI'S MOM (2)

*Continued!*

Tang Reine heard some voices and glanced at Zhenyi anxiously. One last time, she kissed her forehead and looking into her eyes, and said," Zhenyi, you have to run from here. Go, baby, Mama will take care of herself but you have to run now!"

The little Zhenyi sobbed and gripped her hands across her shoulders tightly and shook her head. "No. No. I will not run, Mama!"

Tang Reine's eyes softened as she saw Zhenyi not wanting to leave her, but she had to do something to send her daughter away so that she could protect her. Her safety was her priority now.

"Look at Mama," said Tang Reine, her expressions turned stern and authoritarian.  "You have to leave Mama here alone. Always remember that you cannot fight all the battles alone and sometimes leaving the battlefield is the only and the smart option." She paused and then continued. "We can't fight now, Angel, but it certainly doesn't mean that we won't seek vengeance for this in the future. Zhenyi, you are young, you may not understand it now, but they betrayed us and the family and there is no great sin than betraying anyone you have given loyalty to."

But Zhenyi was not listening to her at all, it was too much for a seven years old girl and Tang Reine was quite aware of it too, but she hoped that one day when her daughter would remember her, she would remember her last spoken words too. Tang Reine wanted Zhenyi to at least remember her in her memories, but she didn't want those memories to be bloody and a subject of pain and heartache for her daughter.

Tang Reine had fought many battles and won too...

But today, she lost at the hands of fate...

"Let Mama save at least one of her daughters, "  said Tang Reine, taking a heavy breath. Her body was losing energy and even if she didn't want to admit it, she knew it could possibly be her last moments here and with her daughter.

And how badly she wanted to see Yichen and Ryuu one last time.

"I don't wanna leave you and the baby, Mama." Zhenyi looked at her mother, tears glistening in her eyes. "Promise me, you will come back to me. Promise me, you and little baby will come back to me safely."

Tang Reine smiled at her daughter. " Zhenyi, we don't make false promises. No matter how much of a bad guy we are, we never lie about promises. We hold our promises, thus, Angel, Mama can't promise you anything now. But one thing, I can assure you that I will try my best to save your little sister. Just find her, Angel. I may or may not be here to find my other daughter if I manage to bring her to this world. Just find her…"

Her vision was blurring now. She had lost way too much blood. There were wounds on her chest and back too but she still managed to look unfazed and casual.

The sky was changing its colors, and within an hour, it would be covered with never-ending darkness and gloaming. The kind of darkness which couldn't be got out of by any kind of angelic or holy light.

The sky right now was depicting the life of Tang Reine, soon both would be filled with never-ending darkness that no light could evade. The day was settling and so was her life.

Her light, the love of her life, and her husband would be lost somewhere and she didn't know how long this night of separation would be. It could be years and it could be an eternity. But no matter what, if she died today, she would wait for him on the other side of the world. So, what if they couldn't live their happily ever after here on earth? They would certainly live it when he would join her on the other side of the world because one thing was clear, Xin Yichen would be hers as long as he took his last breath and even after that.

It was time to say goodbye to everyone and everything. But only if it was so easy…

"Run, Zhenyi, run," Tang Reine screamed as loudly as she could. "Run, Zhenyi, run."

Zhenyi looked at her mother in utter confusion. She looked here and there around her and found the atmosphere to be a little strange.

"Mama?"

"Run, Zhenyi. Don't let them catch you," Tang Reine said to her daughter anxiously. "Please, Zhenyi. You love Mama? Won't you do that for Mama and little sister?"

"Mama!"

Tang Reine pushed Zhenyi out of her arms and showed her the way. "Run, Zhenyi. Don't let catch you. Run until Ryuu or your dad will find you. Wait for them to search for you. They will find you soon, Angel."

Zhenyi stood up and turned back to look at her mother before listening to what her mother asked her to do.

"Don't look back. Always have a clear focus on the goal. Don't let anyone or anything distract you. Your goal is to protect yourself. Be strong, Angel, so that no one will be able to hurt you. Be scary, be mighty, be who you are meant to be, but never be what you don't want to be. You are born for great things, Zhenyi, your life doesn't end here and so run and never come back until your father or Ryuu find you."

And that's how Zhenyi ran and ran and ran and never looked behind.
