Chapter 205 - Shadow Cult

On Ryuu's side.

"Young man, where are you?" Xin Yichen's furious voice almost pierced Ryuu's ears.

Ryuu kept the phone away from his ear and asked, bewildered, "Bà, what's going on?"

"Come home now!" Xin Yichen demanded.

Ryuu, who had just landed in Tbilisi, was stunned by his father's unusual behavior. Just what was going on? He messaged his assistant immediately to get the information as to what was going on in Xin mansion.

"Bà, at least tell me the reason for your sudden outburst?" Ryuu sighed.

"Why don't you come home and see for yourself?" came the sharp reply.

Ryuu handed his suitcase to his man and exited the airport. One man opened the door to the car and another came with his laptop. Once he settled inside his car, a laptop was placed on his lap. The event which caused Xin Yichen's odd behavior was on the lit screen.

He sighed inwardly and prayed to heaven for mercy.

His plates were already full and he had no time to deal with Tang Yuzhang. When was the last time he met Tang Yuzhang?  Ryuu didn't remember. There were matters more important than this one which required his attention and that too immediately.

"Ryuu--"

"Bà, take a deep breath," said Ryuu softly. He waited for a moment and then let out, " Is it related to mom?"

"Who else!"

"Okay. Give me time, Bà. At least a week. I will be back in China." He knew he had to go back sooner this time, but couldn't go as soon as his father wanted.

The commitment he had in Georgia was much more important than anything else right now.

"I'm afraid son, you don't have any other option but to return this time," Xin Yichen sighed." It seems you have gotten the information that Tang Yuzhang is here. Under my roof. And nothing reasonable comes out of meeting ghosts who appear once in a while. The matter is quite sensitive and crucial, Ryuu. You have to come back sooner."

"I know but someone needs me more than anything else right now. It's urgent, Bà," said Ryuu, his attention on the computer screen. " As for Tang Yuzhang, what does he need? Or is he back to meet his best friend?"

Xin Yichen gripped the phone tightly and said angrily, "Who is his best friend?"

"You, Bà," came the relaxed reply.

Xin Yichen chuckled bitterly. "Haha...Best friends don't leave when you need them the most. They also don't become strangers as time passes. His actions proved that he was there only for Tang Reine, and once she left us, he left too, leaving all of us behind. Son, he never turned back, and now why should we welcome him when he was the one abandoning us?" So, in short, he was not his best friend at all.

There were people around him twenty-four/seven because of who he was. But none of them were even close to being called a friend. It was not that he didn't want to talk to Tang Yuzhang but the person himself had closed all the lines of communication many years ago.

However, it seemed like Ryuu had a completely different opinion than his father as he said, "He must have his reasons. He was loyal to the family. If we were grief-stricken, so was he. His only family in this world left him alone. Perhaps, leaving everything behind was his way of coping with the circumstances."

Hearing what Ryuu was trying to say, Xin Yichen's body became cold and the taste in his mouth was bitter.

After everything that had happened to their family many years ago, Tang Yuzhang had chosen to leave them instead of staying with them. They would have become each other's support in that hard time.

Xin Yichen was not a shallow man and neither did he hold grudges. Instead of holding grudges, he would rather retaliate to his heart's content.

However, he still couldn't get this grievance out of his heart that the person who was so nearest to him left him when he needed them the most.

Could it be because he had considered him a friend?

Yet, Xin Yichen was livid," He was loyal to his mistress, Ryuu, not to her family. We were nothing to him than his mistress's family. Well, it didn't matter anymore. However, one of my questions is still answered and no one other than you can answer it."

Ryuu frowned but didn't say anything.

His father was adamant on this topic. He knew his stand wouldn't be changed anytime soon, but he was sure that one day it definitely would.

"Tell me, son, how is he still associated with the Tang family? Especially when Tang Reine made clear that after her death he is to serve no one. He will be free of every duty and obligation with her death. Then, why is the soldier's belonging to the Tang family still obeying him?"

This matter was sensitive and Ryuu hadn't expected his father to ask him this question.

Ryuu took a deep breath. He closed the laptop and placed it beside him and ordered the driver to put on the partition. His destination was still miles away.

"Tang Yuzhang is the commander of the shadow cult," Ryuu answered heavily heartedly.

"Shadow cult?"

Although Xin Yichen was married to Tang Reine, still there were many things he was not aware of. Tang Reine used to say that the Tang family was a bunch of greedy wolves who wouldn't wince before tearing their own flesh apart. They were ruthless and merciless when it came to capturing power.

So, keeping the Xin family away from the dirty politics of the Tang family, was Tang Reine's way of protecting them.

Because she knew if Xin Yichen was aware of the prevailing situation he would try to step up and help her, jeopardizing the lives of their kids too.

And this was the same reason Xin Yichen was not aware of the dynamics of the Shadow Cult.

However, he knew what the shadow cult was.

The members of the Shadow cult are martial arts geniuses. They possess talents which existed only in the legends and the myths. It was said that when the Shadow cult came into being, the then members of the cult had sworn their unwavering and undying loyalty to the crown, and until this day even after so many decades after the crown was revoked from the country, their loyalty was still with the family, unwavering and undying as forever.

"It is also said that the Shadow cult disappeared after the abrupt and brutal death of mom," Ryuu added after a long time.

"Since when did you start believing in the rumors?" Xin Yichen couldn't help but frown.

"Well, it's not completely a rumor," came the reply.

Xin Yichen let out a long-suffering sigh.

"Bà, do you know why the cult was formed?" Ryuu couldn't help but ask.

"I do, son. If not completely, but I do know a little."

"Then, you must know that the head of the family had no powers to control the cult. They work on their own resources and leadership. It is controlled by an element that I or none of the members of the Tang family possess right now."

"Then, who possesses that element, son?" Xin Yichen asked.

"Only Tang Yuzhang knows it."

It was a matter of concern for both of them. If Ryuu had no idea about the situation, it only meant one thing -- threat.

"Come back soon, Ryuu. Then, you will know what actually is happening here," said Xin Yichen, his voice defeated. "You asked for a week and I am giving you two. Complete your task and come home."

But only if it was so easy.

"I've commitments, Bà. I am afraid I can't come back soon. I believe there exists no matter that you or Zhenyi can't handle. Wait for me to come home."

Ryuu was right to a large extent. Xin Yichen would never let anyone or anything harm his children. However, he still didn't know how to open up to his son about the issue of his upcoming wedding.

Ryuu was getting married for sure but none of them knew who the bride was.

What was even more stunning was that even the family of the bride didn't know that someone named Tang Reine had arranged the wedding of their daughter with her son.

It was not just stunning, it was terrifying.

A wedding that neither the groom nor the bride is aware of.

Nonetheless, we would let the Xin family be the judge of it once they were known of this fact.
