Chapter 324 - Unanswered Questions

Somewhere far…

"Boss!" A man looked up from his computer screen and glanced at the man whose face was covered in darkness. He sighed before saying, "Xin Zhenyi reached her. We miscalculated this time. It seems she knew that the girl is her long lost sister."

The man who was until now standing in darkness moved a little, his white hair representing the maturedness of his eyes were sharp and filled with evilness.

"So, Xin Zhenyi ultimately discovered her in the end?" The man said, his voice too calm to describe the storm raging inside him. "Seventeen years. For Seventeen years, I kept that girl away from everyone's eyes for an objective, not to send her back to the Xins."

"Boss, what should we do now? Should we persuade Du Zheng to send her back to us? If we didn't hurry, Xin Zhenyi would rescue her sooner or later... now that she knew who she was."

The man chuckled. "Rescue her? Let her rescue her little sister. Her sister will be her death. So what if we failed to kill her repeatedly? We will give her an end worse than death. Give clues to Xin Zhenyi. Give her a way to protect her sister from the monster named Du Zheng that I have created."

"Yes Boss!"

'What a shame! Tang Reine just like you, your daughters and husband will die at my hands. What country had I saved in my last life to come across a formidable yet fascinating enemy like you, Xins."

"What are you doing here?" Ryuu asked Alcina who was staring at the ground, a smile playing on her lips.

Alcina startled as she heard Ryuu whispering in her ear. She calmed herself down. It was as if her body recognized his scent and shade or else she would have attacked him for startling the shit out of her.

Wait a minute, what was he doing here? Wasn't he supposed to be in bed?

"Shouldn't I ask you about what you are doing here?" Alcima cross questioned him while crossing her arms over her chest in a domineering posture. This posture was so natural to her that even Ryuu could guess what her next words would be. "Do you remember that I am here staying beside you just because you are sick and need constant medical supervision?"

Of course, these were the same words which Ryuu had imagined her saying in his head. Always ready to bite him. Either with her words or teeth.

"I can't lay in bed all day like a patient," Ryuu said while trying to act cute. Sigh, these cutesy things didn't work on Alcina and he should remember her.

"Are you forgetting that you are also a patient? A patient whose one leg is in the grave?" Alcina asked him while scowling at him.

"Can you stop it! I'm sick of you playing doctor with me, Cia. Something is troubling you and I can see it right in your eyes," said Ryuu. This time very seriously. "Tell me, what is the problem? Perhaps, I will be helpful in solving it for you."

"If you are doing this for Zhenyi, then don't bother. I can ask her myself if I ever needed any kind of help," Alcima said, making him confused.

"What does this have to do with my sister?" questioned Ryuu immediately despite his confusion.

"Aren't you helping me because of her? I have no relation to you except that I am Zhenyi's sister-in-law. So, wouldn't you be helping me for that reason?" Alcina's questions poured cold water on all the feelings which Ryuu was unable to express until now with his words.

"Ah, I shouldn't disturb your rest, Lord Ryuu. Please go to bed. I will be there with your medicines soon," added Alcina while moving away from him. But Ryuu caught her wrist tightly making it difficult for her to get her wrist out of his hold.

"You never called me Lord Ryuu before," Ryuu whispered.

"Dammit! You were never a married man before too!" Alcina's sudden outburst surprised her too.

"So, this was the reason behind your sudden hold and cold behavior," Ryuu said, chuckling to himself.

Ryuu grasped her shoulders forcing her to look into his eyes. To see the pain she had inflicted on him all these years. To see the pain he was going to give her if they ended up together. To see why they would always be those two parallel lines who would stay together but would never meet at a certain point.

"Didn't you say before that whether I am married or not has nothing to do with you? Didn't you say before that out of all the people in the world you hated my family the most? Didn't you say before that we can't be anything more than fuckbuddies? Then, what the hell changed now? You never wanted me. Now that I am married to someone else, you suddenly realize that you wanted more. Where were you all those years when you had the chance?"

Ryuu's hurtful questions were piercing her heart like a dagger which was dipped in poison and was now being stabbed into her heart. She hated this feeling. But she hated him more. Worst, she hated the vulnerability that she was currently facing.

What should she say in answer when she had nothing to say in return for his questions. Just like always, she would never get answers to certain questions.

But she did whispered these last words before leaving.

"I never said that I wanted more with you." She smiled softly at him. "I'm happy being your temporary doctor and your permanent baby mama."

"What's with you ladies and Alcohol?" Sam said as soon as he occupied a stool beside Alcina, who was drinking straight from the bottle now. He could also see a line of empty bottles.Seemed like someone had a very bad day!

"What are you doing here?" Alcina questioned him instead. She didn't know from where he got the whiff of that she would be here. Ugh. Why must she meet him now? She had been ignoring him for weeks now. And she had a valid reason for her behavior.

"My best friend said that I would find you here and so here I am," came the answer with a light shrug.

Sam's light shrug failed to hide the worry that he had in his eyes for her. Why did people in his life were bad at taking care of themselves?

"Moreover, I was hired by the devil to babysit your ass," Sam added mischievously. He took a deep breath when he noticed that Alcina wasn't giving him the attention he needed. Perhaps, she was too drunk to react. But deep inside he knew that it wasn't the case. Still, he tried to keep the hurt that he was feeling to himself. "Let's go back home," said Sam as he grabbed her arm but she dodged him.

Not everyone can touch her. Only one scoundrel for who she was pinning for.

She shook her head and directly refused. "I'm not not coming with you."

"Why?" Sam asked her.

"Because you're walking down the wrong path," said Alcina with mixed expressions. One could see hurt and regret flashed in her eyes. "Sam, what you feel for me is fascination and admiration not love. Do not waste your time and feelings on me. The door to my heart was shut down a long time ago and there is no hope if it will ever open."

"Let me take care of you Alcina, " said Sam with a smile but his eyes were betraying the cool and nonchalant expressions on his face.

Alcina denied his touch again. "There is no one else for me to take care of me. He has been taking care of me since the beginning. Since I was eight and he was twelve." With a nostalgic smile, she added,"And he will take care of me until the very end. Until we will take our last breath."

One must assume that she was crazy for uttering the nonsense. But only she knew how true their words were. It would never matter that he was a married man now when it came to her well being. Of course, he knew that he would never cheat on his wife with her. And also that she would never be a third party in their marriage. Yet, she was being a third party in their marriage and Ryuu was cheating on his wife emotionally.

She didn't even know if Ryuu had told Xiuyimg about the existence of their daughter. And if he did, she wondered what her reaction was? Would Xiuying be a scheming stepmom to her Faye or would love her more than she as her mother could give her?

So many questions, but she had no answer. Not even to the one that her heart had begun raising these days.
