CH 42

“Ugh, my back.”

I got out of bed stretching.

I seem to have fallen asleep after writing a letter all night.

But did I come to bed? Why can’t I remember?

I tilted my head to one side.

But soon after, when I saw the clock, I flicked out of bed.

Gosh, it’s the time already.

“Quick, quick!”

I hurried to get ready.

I woke up later than I thought.

If I make a mistake, Leon may not be able to get the timing right before he goes to the test.

Knock, knock, knock.

“I’m going in, Young Lady.”

“Diria, come on in!”

My mind was in a hurry. It’s obvious that I won’t see him if I’m delayed a little more.

‘Somehow, I don’t think I’ll be able to see him today..’

I dressed up roughly in nervousness.

“It’s rough. I’m going to miss him at this rate.”

“Young Lady.”

Diria looked at me with a pitiful expression.

“Leon will wait. I can’t be late.”

I have something to give him before he goes. I wanted to say something.

Eventually, I got up from my seat without properly preparing.

Diria swept down her chest in surprise and soon wriggled her hands.

“That’s….”

Strangely, there was sadness in her eyes.

“It’s strange that the atmosphere has gone down..’

I opened my eyes wide for Diria.

“What? Do you have something to say to me?”

Why are you taking so much time? I think it’s always been a bad thing to say at times like this.

“Am I late?”

What’s wrong with her?

Diria finally sighed and opened her mouth.

“Young Master Leon has already left.”

“What?”

No, that can’t be true.

“You’re lying!”

Didn’t he promise me? I said I’d meet him before he went.

He couldn’t have gone without a word like this.

I lost my temper and found the letter I had left on the table.

“…… There isn’t.”

I poked around the room like a madman.

I couldn’t find it no matter how hard I tried. I wrote a letter and a bracelet.

“Did he come and go?”

Why didn’t you say goodbye…….

A sudden surge of sorrow came.

“Young Lady…he asked me to deliver this.”

I received a letter from Diria.

I used to have a good sense of choosing a letter. It was Leon’s, by all accounts.

Plop into the chair and read the letter.

[Elle, I’ll be back. I’ll find you wherever you are.]

What kind of letter is this? I read the letter several times, and only two lines were written.

“He couldn’t have left without saying good bye.”

“Actually, Count Edgar secretly called on Young Master Leon.”

“…The Count?”

Until the end.

I jumped up from my seat.

What disappeared at night must have also caused a ruckus.

He’s leaving anyway, so what are you going to do with sending him away like this?

I was going crazy with anger.

“I must go to the Count at once.”

“Now it’s a little……!”

In a hurry, Diria blocked my way out. I couldn’t see anything now.

I raised my voice to Diria.

“Diria, I’m very angry right now. Get out of my way.”

“My Lady…”

“Get out of the way.”

There’s a certain level. Isn’t it too much to do this? I didn’t want to let it pass.

Eventually, Diria made way for me.

* * *

“He’s inside, right?”

“……I think you’d better come back later.”

Why are there so many people standing in my way today?

I sigh at Lord Hessen.

“Get out of the way.”

Ha, how many times do I say this today?

Even looking at my crumpled face, Lord Hesse seemed unwilling to move.

“I won’t get in trouble. I’m just trying to talk.”

I put on the most harmless look I could.

“I know. But I think you’d better come later.”

“Sir Hessen. Why should I? I need to see him right now.”

I warned him low, looking at Lord Hessen, who was not backing down.

I was strictly above him.

Even if the count did not recognize me as a daughter, I was strictly of the Velois family.

“……I see.”

Lord Hessen saw my unbroken eyes and soon cleared the way.

As the door opened and entered, Edgar’s frown was not visible.

There was no gaze that was always staring at me from the chair.

He was always there, so I was worried that his butt might be attached to the chair.

I looked around for Edgar.

“Uh…? Why there.”

Edgar was lying on the bed in the office.

Something must be wrong.

I strode up to Edgar.

His face was a little pale.

“What, why are you lying here?”

I reached out and tapped Edgar.

“I know you’re not sleeping.”

“Lady Elle. The count is.”

“You’re acting, right? You’re afraid I’ll nag you. You’re afraid that you would be criticized for sending Leon like that.”

Didn’t he look fine yesterday.

I just slightly brushed Edgar’s hand, but I got goosebumps.

“Why is it so cold?”

It was a strange thing to do. He seems to be sleeping peacefully, but why am I anxious?

“He’s not feeling well.”

“His Highness Delther didn’t know?”

I suddenly remembered his existence. It wasn’t good to know from the royal family.

He was already investigating the Velois family, but I was in trouble if they caught a weakness.

“Yes, so far no one knows.”

“Then explain it now. Why is my father lying in bed?”

I spoke in a calm voice. This wasn’t part of the plan.

It was different from what I knew.

Edgar has never been threatened in this way.

I went through a lot for that.

“Sir Serthia Hesse. Can’t you hear me?”

There was a low voice in the office.

Only then did Lord Hessen speak.

“Actually, he went to the Duke of Amelan yesterday.”

” My father is not alone. Did the Duke of Amelan have the power to make my father like this?”

Not at all.

Cedric alone could tell how insignificant their power was.

Then there was a high probability that someone else would have made him that way now.

Edgar was able to protect himself without losing Mana.

It was also possible to take away the power of others.

But that’s what happened?

I didn’t understand.

No matter how hard I tried, they didn’t have the power to make Edgar give in no matter what hypothesis to be made.

“He went with the elite knights. There was no problem with the Amelan family…….”

“Why did he go there?”

“It is…… Didn’t they deceive the Velois family? He couldn’t let it go even though he knew it.”

“Sigh….”

I felt a sense of guilt for some reason. After all, it was like going because of me.

Edgar was hurt by what I said to protect Leon.

If it’s not for the Amelan family, what about him?

Confusion also had something to solve right now for a while.

“It was the first time I saw them. However, the doctor’s opinion is that the important thing is that it will be difficult to happen right now.”

“I will meet those who visited my father in the future.”

“Will you be alright?”

“Give me all the information about him.”

Edgar couldn’t come to his senses.

The huge cost of information and there were a lot of things related to it.

“Shouldn’t anyone who touched the Velois family pay a price?”

I felt the same way as Edgar did.

I can bully others, but not others

I was trying to fix it!

Isn’t it a big deal if we suddenly breaks down.

I came to inquire about Leon’s problem, but I didn’t know that an additional ambush was waiting for me.

“So how is my father now?”

“Fortunately, he is not seriously injured. I just don’t know what it is, but he appears to be unconscious.”

“He just lost consciousness, didn’t he?”

“For now, yes.”

I was relieved to hear Lord Hessen.

If he’s not sick, isn’t it a relief?

There was no answer if he was subjected to a curse or black magic that I didn’t know.

How am I supposed to solve it?

It will only take a while, but he will wake up.

But just in case, I’ll have to find out a little in all directions.

I looked down at Edgar with his eyes closed.

‘He really doesn’t help till the end. The father who always blocked my ways.’

It was certain that he had a bad feeling. In the past, I would have run away with what I needed.

But I couldn’t leave Edgar alone.

I couldn’t do that when I saw him lying down.

Hessen stared at me still. I felt that kind of gaze, but it didn’t bother me.

I’m sure he has a lot to say.

“Lady, what happened to Leon…….”

“That’s enough. I’ll listen to it myself when he wakes up later.”

“Yes”

“I’ll get a report from the office from today.”

I need to dig into Edgar’s cover-up.

“It’s been hard, so you can rest a little.”

“But why aren’t you surprised?”

“I knew this would happen once.”

Lord Hessen nodded his head in acknowledgment at my words.

That’s what you thought?

I wasn’t the only one.

It was vaguely expected that one day Edgar would have an accident and be in danger of his life.

I know. I told you to kill your attitude and live! You didn’t listen.

When I glanced at Edgar, I sat at his desk and looked at the papers.

“Well, then shall we get paid?”

Sitting at the desk, I twisted up the corners of my mouth.
