Punishment (1)

Xue Lan stood behind the shelter.

He currently had 0.4% health remaining.

But he did not restore his health while he hid. The amount of health the health injection would recover was too little and the loading was long. Rather than wasting all that time, why not stake everything in one shot?

As the smoke gradually dispersed, those light footsteps slowly approached.

He held his breath.  His mind seemed to gradually form a three-dimensional outline of the shelter in front of him. The approaching footsteps also gradually coagulated into an individual’s outline.

He counted in the dark—

Three… Two… One…

When that person was about to turn the corner of the container, he unhesitatingly pressed the trigger!

As everyone couldn’t help holding their breaths waiting to see the final verdict of this moment, all the computer hosts and screens simultaneously died—

“What’s going on?!” someone among the crowd cried out.

Xue Lan also quickly removed his headset and stood up.

“What’s going on?” The training camp manager stood at the door and coldly scolded, “Are you all out of control?! The training camp hasn’t started and you’re using the equipment without permission, are there no more rules and regulations in your eyes?!”

Seeing the manager of the training camp, everyone became frightened.

Xue Lan hung his head. He was still thinking about the match that was cut off.

If the electricity had not suddenly cut off, would that shot hit the opponent?

Actually, in the compartment, Xue Lan was thinking—

If the last remaining opponent was not nearby, he would have already boarded the deck while taking advantage of the turmoil and lying in ambush in the only passage as he waited for the opponent.

He glanced at his health which was automatically recovering in extremely small amounts after the battle. In the previous battle, a shot from a highly wounded assaulter had scraped him. If he remembered correctly, it should be the last assaulter. The value of that wound was…

He had been staring dead at the health bar that was increasing at a very slow rate, until breaking through a certain critical point—

He suddenly raised his gun, threw a smoke bomb, and rushed up onto the deck.

From here to the nearest shelter at the deck, even if the opponent correctly guessed the direction of his run and blindly shot, as long as he made through this shot, he would have the chance to turn the tables!

It was a gamble.

Fear still lingered in Xue Lan’s heart. His hands clenched.

“Who among you started this?” the training camp manager demanded.

Only then did Xue Lan return to his senses. He said calmly, “I did.”

His answer made everyone cast a sorry glance at him.

Under everyone’s silent attention, the manager grunted. “I planned to have you get on with the preliminary individual points ranking match now, but since you guys like to play so much, you don’t have to join the preliminary round anymore. Zero points.”

Everyone was frightened.

It was not terrible to be ranked a bit later in the game, but losing all the points gained from a whole game would mean lagging behind everyone by more than one segment.

But Xue Lan tidied up his keyboard and mouse in a calm manner, nodding.

Soon after that, he shifted his gaze to everyone around him. “Although the game is not over, I hope everyone can comply with the promise.”

“What promise?”

A young man alone in a farther seat stood up. It was that young man who first confronted Xue Lan.

He faced Xue Lan and said with a scornful laugh, “Before the game ended I still had forty percent health left, but you only had 0.4%, you should be the one leaving the training camp as promised.”

Following the voice, Xue Lan settled his gaze on that young man, but his eyes were calm and gentle.

If he guessed correctly, this young man should be Deng Ruiqiu.

He was the new generation’s most outstanding assaulter. After being bought by the Thunder Team, he became an assaulter to especially restrain Wen Yan, but then he lost his original qualities. In the end, after several disappointing matches, the Thunder Team resold him.

The Thunder Team did not lack money, but to those whom they thought had no value, they would not hesitate to abandon them.

Maybe Xue Lan had a pitiful gaze on, but Deng Ruiqiu choked in his position, momentarily forgetting what he was about to say.

The trainees who only spectated the match voiced their comments. Someone ashamedly said, “We certainly lost… And you’ve fired your last shot…”

“You mean I lost? His last shot would not kill me, and even if I missed my shot I can kill him again with another shot!” Deng Ruiqiu cut him off. “If you disagree we can have another go!”

“Deal, I’ll play with you.”

A familiar languid voice made Xue Lan’s heart stir in shock. Stunned, he raised his head. Sure enough, he saw Duan Wenzheng standing outside the door from who knew when with a half smile:

“Whether I cheated or not, wouldn’t we be able to tell after we play?”

“Do you all not have…”

The training camp manager wanted to stop them when a stern voice cut off the two’s dispute.

“No need to play another game.”

Hearing the voice, everyone was startled and shifted their attention to behind Duan Wenzheng—

“Yan— Yan God?!”

Xue Lan looked up, only to see Wen Yan wearing the LGW uniform walking into the training room together with another person wearing the same uniform.
