CH 149

Demimore sighed deeply as he walked into the forest with Cameron.

Though Cameron pretends he didn’t, he was actually scanning the area where Mary and Theodore were hunting.

He was probably concerned about whether or not “it” had been a success. Demimore gave his own brother, who was incredibly transparent, a pitiful glance.

However, he, too, was worried whether “it” worked out well.

Demimore double-checked to make sure his body’s sweet, fragrant scent hadn’t faded.

Fortunately, this honey-based perfume actually clung to his skin like honey.

When Jasper first brought this perfume, the potent smell made him queasy. He had headaches just thinking about spraying this awful thing all the time.

‘Oh, how pleasant that smell is! Did you apply anything to your body?’

However, when Mary leaned in close and placed her nose against the back of his neck, Demimore thought he would gladly wear this disgusting fragrance every day.

‘I don’t know. I like your scent better.’

As Mary approached Demimore, a cool yet flowery scent blew in the air.

It was a much better fragrance than the sticky sweet smell. When Mary’s breath touched the back of his neck…….

After thinking that far, Demimore closed his eyes and covered his mouth with his right hand.

Then there was the adorable little Mary, who was so embarrassed that she had said whatever came to her mind.

He realized that this situation was not as terrible as he had initially believed.

In fact, he felt like it was kind of a reward.

“Hey, get a grip.”

Who is currently being preoccupied with something else?

Cameron’s remarks caused Demimore to frown.

Demimore simply nodded his head silently without speaking because it was obvious that he was also preoccupied with something else.

“You lead the way.”

Despite Cameron’s arrogant tone, Demimore shrugged and took a step forward, as if he expected it.

Cameron shouted at him from behind to slow down. He listened to the shout in one ear and let it slip out of the other. Demimore thought to himself.

‘Why did I accept this bet?’

Unexpectedly, he is a coward. He places hunting bets wherever he goes, but he frequently does so at Count Stein’s estate. A location he is familiar with where Count Stein is always available to assist. But why did he accept this bet in such an unfamiliar location?

Additionally, there were many factors that were more detrimental to Cameron than he had anticipated when he heard the terms of the bet. With his nasty personality, he questioned how he could have agreed to those terms.

Of course, it was only natural to use any means necessary to succeed, but he was genuinely baffled as to why he had made such a bet in the first place.

“Argh!”

He was walking along thinking about that when he heard Cameron shout from behind him.

Demimore turned around, frowning. In front of Cameron, a strange green creature was jumping around.

Cameron drew his well-crafted sword and swung it without thinking.

The sword was well-forged by a blacksmith with the highest authority in weapons crafting, but in Cameron’s hands, it was useless.

“What is this, you bastard!”

Demimore approached Cameron and looked at the green thing. Then he plunged his sword into it. The green monster made a strange sound and then disappeared.

It didn’t appear to sense Demimore’s presence behind it, possibly because it was a low-ranking beast.

Cameron breathed heavily. Although Demimore was the one who killed the beast, Cameron appears to be more worn out.

“It’s gone.”

Demimor said in a grave voice. More surprised than necessary, Cameron wiped the cold sweat from his brow.

“Will you be alright?”

He was stunned by a low-ranking beast, and Demimore pondered whether Cameron would be able to handle more difficult circumstances.

Actually, having him around annoyed Demimore a little bit.

“You’ll catch something greater over there!”

So, I suppose…

There would be people like Theodore and Mary who were more capable than Cameron. Compared to his abilities, Cameron’s ambition was too great for someone of his current level.

It appeared that Demimore would have to catch everything himself based on what had happened earlier. Did Cameron not attend classes or proper training with a sword? Lately, he had been wandering outside like a person possessed of something.

He appeared to believe that training and classes were unnecessary. He recalled Max being genuinely concerned that Cameron appeared to be associated with an odd group.

Demimore, on the other hand, had been training in swordsmanship ever since Mary had been kidnapped on her ninth birthday.

He also put a lot of effort into honing his magical abilities to create mana crystals after learning that Rex gave Mary a bracelet. To be prepared, he even requested that Jasper teach him how to capture monsters.

‘Come to think of it, it’s all thanks to Mary.’

She must be doing well. Jasper and Max must be doing well as well.

Demimore cast a quick glance toward the location she would be at. There’s just two of them, but at least she has Theodore.

Just the two of them.

Just the two of us.

Demimore’s eyes grew sharp. He realized that if he hadn’t killed the beast in front of Cameron earlier, he wouldn’t know what would have happened to him.

It’s likely that the first prince, who was at best an accomplished hunter on the hunting grounds, would have had difficulty getting through this.

After the thought Demimore turned around. Behind Demimore, Cameron complained, scowled and questioned why he had stopped.

“Tell me.”

“What?”

“About the poisoning of my mother.”

“If we win this hunting bet……!”

Demimore walked expressionless in front of Cameron. Only then did Cameron notice the silver sword in Demimore’s hand.

The silver sword was stained with the blood of the beast that was killed earlier. Cameron’s mind was complicated.

“Hey, where are you going? Come not here. I’ll kill you.”

Demimore defied Cameron’s order and stood in front of him while simultaneously raising the sword high in both hands.

Cameron tightly closed his eyes as he struggled to control his fear.

Cameron heard a crunching sound from behind. Something warm covered his hand. When he opened his eyes and moved his fingers black blood was on his

“What is this…….”

When he turned around, there was the corpse of the beast, which appeared to have been stabbed by Demimore’s sword.

It seemed like the reason Demimore raised his sword in front of him earlier was to kill this monster. Cameron stumbled as his legs gave way.

“You’re a son of a….”

“There seems to be a lot of monsters around you.”

Putting his sword back in its sheath at his waist, Demimore spoke in a monotone. He then turned to face Cameron and uttered:

“So, are you not going to tell me?”

Only then did Cameron realize that he and Demimore were alone in this desolate place. If Demimore decides to do so, Cameron might, perhaps…

“Damn it, X!”

Cameron remembered X’s voice persuading him to go on this hunt in order to get what he wanted. But no matter how hard he tried to think of it, he couldn’t come up with anything to gain from this hunt while Demimore threatened him!

And on top of that, he had even wagered favorable conditions to that disgusting Gilbert for this hunt.

Although X had unmistakably promised to show up in the middle of it, Cameron was unsure of exactly when that would be.

‘What’s the point if X doesn’t show up!’

He didn’t know when Demimore grew up like this. What Cameron felt when he saw his brother who had grown up well was not pride, but a kind of fear.

He was also irrationally furious.

Technically speaking, Cameron was the first prince and the closest thing to the throne.

But in the future that Mary knows, Demimore may become emperor, according to X.

Cameron couldn’t figure out when this guy had grown up so much taller than him.

“Do you want to know?”

Cameron spoke in the most haughty tone imaginable.

“Kneel. You’re more conceited than I thought.”
