Chapter 62 - His Wounded Pride

Back inside her 5 year old body, Yvonne was deep asleep and did not notice the man sitting at the edge of her bed.

Asmodeus had arrived right after her, to make sure that her soul was back inside her body without any complications.

His faithful disciple, Theo was still asleep after the little clash between him and the other god so he had come here all alone.

"I made sure to restart the world before I brought you into this body so how did that entity manage to remain?" He murmured his bothersome thoughts out loud.

Sadly, there was no reply because the only other person there was hugging a pillow as she snored softly.

He had made a trial run of the story before he sent it to Platina Entertainment for approval but it was rejected by their CEO, Yvonne St. Claire.

In his anger at her unjust rejection, he was about to thrash the entire world when a sudden thought entered his mind.

Deciding to follow that brilliant idea, he simply hit the restart button on the world and dropped the woman who had discredited his work into it.

"She would be the change that I need." He had decided as he watched her soul fall from the sky and attach itself to the body of the child.

However, now he was getting alerted every time a strange and menacing energy tried to mess with her.

He had made sure that no one would know about Yvonne's soul not belonging to this world and that he could use this to make his story better.

Winning the bet was all he wanted but now, things seemed to be more dangerous than he had expected them to be.

"That energy wanted to show this foul-mouthed child what really happened in the story." His eyes flashed with a fierce light before it faded away.

What he wrote in the script was just a part of what had really happened.

He had omitted most of it, to make the story seem more sweet and romantic but now those parts were being exposed by some strange entity.

"I need to be more careful about this or else everything that I had planned for would go awry!" He declared and then snapped his finger.

Right now he was in his real body which meant he had his fingers and hands rather than his feathers and wings.

A protective layer appeared all over the entire St. Claire's estate to avoid any such mishaps from occurring ever again.

Standing up from her bed, Asmodeus looked out the window and felt a strange shiver run down his spine.

"The child said that she did not follow the entity… This can only mean that there is something bigger that is at play here." Saying so, he vanished from her room.

While Asmodeus was with Yvonne, someone else was busy trying to make his plans work.

"Tsk tsk… You couldn't complete a single task? What's the use of creating you if you can't even fulfill my wishes?" A languid voice rang in the empty room.

The phantom cowered in the corner and did not dare to answer the man with beautiful silver hair.

The entire energy that he had poured into the phantom had now been drained and it was already a miracle that it could stay awake for so long.

Snapping his fingers, the man sent the entity back to sleep after which he gazed at the ceiling and then sighed before getting up from his seat.

"Asmo, you need more drama and passion in your story or it won't ever work." He shook his head while thinking of his old friend who refused to ask him for any help.

The man knew that Asmodeus would never come forward to ask for help because of what had happened between them in the past and his wounded pride.

"I will just have to work from the shadows to keep that pride of yours alive." The man with snake-like eyes whispered and then vanished from the room.

When Asmodeus reached his house high up in another realm, he found the man sitting in the same position as he had left him in.

"Why are you still here when I already asked you to leave?" He sneered at the silver-haired man as he sat opposite to him.

When he had felt the fluctuations in the world he created, Asmodeus was still drinking with this man.

However, he quickly rushed out but not before asking this god of wisdom to disappear by the time he was back.

But now it appears that his warnings fell on deaf ears because the snake was still here.

Neo raised his head and looked at the other god with drunk and dazed eyes.

"It's better to drink out in the open than to be cooped up in my room." He shrugged and sipped his wine in a lazy and uncaring manner.

Asmodeus was furious that his threats were not working on this man so he rolled his eyes and snatched the jar of wine from the table.

"Do whatever you want, I am leaving!" He declared as he strode off in the direction of his house.

'I need to check up on Theo before I go to bed.' He shook his head while thinking of his timid disciple and decided to increase his training from tomorrow.

Neo glared at the man who had stolen his wine without an ounce of shame and then turned his menacing gaze in the direction where he could hear the soft snores of the white-haired child.

'I need to get rid of you someday.' He scoffed and then looked away.

Staring at the blue flowers that he had planted in this yard brought back memories of the time when he was still close to Asmodeus as though they were brothers.

'Those days can never be back.' He grimaced and his mood soured when he thought of this.

A bitter smile appeared on his face as he slowly got up from the couch.

Taking one last look at his old friend who was staring at his disciple with caring eyes, Neo gritted his teeth and then vanished from the pavilion.

Inside Theo's room, Asmodeus turned towards the location where he felt the energy surge and then vanish without a trace.

'He finally left.' He sighed and then turned his attention back to the sleeping child.

"Why am I surrounded by such troublesome children?" Asmodeus groaned before taking a seat on the chair next to the bed.

After tonight, he knew that the entity would not be back for a long time because he had made sure to deplete its life energy to the maximum before he banished it.

'You will have a few peaceful days now, foul-mouthed child.' He remarked and then closed his eyes to relax them.
