Chapter 342 - Today Is The Day!

The week that Yvonne was dreading soon came to an end and with it had ended her punishment of being grounded.

It was Sunday today and the day she was finally allowed to exit her room.

For the past week, the only times she was allowed outside were for meals and her classes.

She remained her usual self during her classes, not letting anyone know that she was being punished but during meals, she made her stance known.

Right now, the St. Claire family were having dinner together however, only two people were sitting next to each other.

The husband and wife shared a look and sighed as they turned their heads towards the other person sitting at the table.

The one who should have been sitting next to her mother like usual was now sitting at the end of the long table.

Yvonne was extremely passive-aggressive about the punishment she had to face this week.

Each time she met them, she would greet them with perfect etiquettes but would not utter a single word after it.

She would then take the seat which was farthest away from them and ate her meal as though there was no one else in the room.

At first, the parents were amused to see this sulking behavior of their adorable daughter but soon realized that she was firm on her decision of ignoring them.

A week had passed and it was Sunday yet she did not return to her bubbly self.

She only spoke when asked a question and then remained silent throughout their meal.

Yvonne rolled her eyes after feeling their gazes but did not lift her head and focused on the delicious chocolate cake the chef had prepared for dessert.

"Vonny?" Raylene called out which compelled the little girl to lift her head and glance at her.

"Your punishment ends tonight. You can do as you please from tomorrow." She revealed and smiled yet her smile was not acknowledged.

The little girl nodded her head and then went back to eating.

'I help you stabilize your position in this house but you did not help me when I was punished.' She scoffed and continued to ignore her mother.

Rutherford shot his wife a soothing smile when he saw the sadness in her eyes.

"But this does not mean that you will disobey us again. The next time, you will be grounded for longer." He declared his stance on this matter.

The parents did not know her involvement in the issue that occurred last week so it was obvious that she was not given any preferential treatment for it.

If only they had known about her role in this matter then the punishment might have been even more severe than the one she had received.

However, they would never hear a word of this and remain blissfully unaware.

The meal ended with Yvonne's silence which was interpreted as her sulking for being reprimanded.

The parents could only watch as she returned to her room all alone.

Her nanny was still sick and needed another few days' rest as prescribed by the doctor which only meant that the little girl was lonely with no one to talk to while being punished.

Inside her room, Yvonne sat before the mirror with her cheeks puffed as she stared at her reflection.

'Why am I being punished for doing something good?' She brooded in the silence of her room and sighed before walking up to her desk to complete the home assignments she had received.

When the sun rose the next morning, a knock on the door woke the little girl from her slumber.

"Come in." She permitted them groggily as she sat up.

The person who had entered was not her nanny but someone else.

"Miss, time to get dressed." A soft voice was heard which directed her attention towards this person.

Nodding her head, Yvonne stretched her limbed then jumped out of bed.

Since her nanny was still on sick leave, a new maid was appointed to look after the Young Miss of the family.

Roselie, a young seventeen-year-old whose previous duty was in the Kitchen had now been selected to serve the Young Miss until her nanny returned.

This maid was the same one who had prepared the tea under Paula's instructions and cleaned the ashes of the Earl's clothes as per the Butler's instructions.

The servants inside the Mansion at that time were the two maids who kept a watch over Paula, Roselie, and the Butler.

These were the only ones who were aware of the schemes of the wicked maid who was now far away from their Estate.

While Roselie was shifted to serve the Young Miss, the other two maids were now appointed as the Madam's personal maids.

Yvonne was neither too affectionate nor too detached with Roselie.

It took her time to gauge someone and determine whether she could add them to the list of people she trusted hence, the little girl was lukewarm towards this new maid.

Roselie had asked Mrs. Jacinth for pointers on how to serve the Young Miss better and so she was able to do the job without any complaints from the little girl.

Soon, the Miss and maid made their way to the front door where she would have her first class of the day.

"Today is the day!" Yvonne declared once she walked far enough from the main door, ensuring that no one could hear her.

Her classes with Captain Desmo Reel had been progressing at a steady pace and today was the day that he would fulfill the promise he had once made to her.

Therefore, her feet hastened to the training grounds where her trainer and the etchers were already present.

"Good morning, Captain! Shall we begin?" She greeted and smiled at her etcher who had come to meet her.

For the past week, Demon could only catch sight of his Master during their morning training or from the window of her bedroom.

Therefore, these were precious moments that he needed to cherish with her.

"Don't worry, I will come to visit you in the evening." Yvonne giggled when she noticed his clingy behavior.

The horse neighed and nodded his head as she continued to pat him.

"If you are done, we can start our class." A bored voice came from behind which caused her lips to twitch.

Turning around, Yvonne curved her lips into a smile as she nodded at her trainer.

Glancing at the table in the corner, her smile widened and there was excitement apparent in them.

Two shiny swords were placed on the table which usually held wooden ones.

'Finally! Real weapons!' She smirked victoriously as she got what she had wished for.

Captain Desmo rolled his eyes after taking a single glance at her enthusiasm.

He remembered the promise that he had made to teach her new skills if she ever passed the assessment her brother would prepare for her.

Therefore, since the assessment was completed, all she ever asked was when they would start training with real swords.

He had tried to dissuade her saying that they would be dangerous and she could injure herself yet she never gave up.

After a month or so, he had decided to let her learn how to wield a real sword.

"This is your first time so we will only do the most basic training." He announced and narrowed his eyes until she groaned with a nod.

"Yes, Sir!" She shouted in response as she was just glad that he had fulfilled his half of the condition they had once made.

The two etchers stood at the side and watched their Masters standing at an appropriate and safe distance away from each other as they swung their swords in the air.

Yvonne paid attention to what was being taught and followed exactly as he was doing.

Captain Desmo made sure to teach her everything she needed to wield a sword properly to not injure herself or others by accident.

For the next hour, the same few exercises he had taught were repeated until the girl perfected them.

"That's all for today. We can continue tomorrow." Desmo announced as he wiped the sweat off his brow.

It would soon be breakfast time after which her other tutors would arrive in quick succession.

Thus, he ended their class and confirmed that tomorrow they would pick up where they left off today.
