CH 13

“I can’t take it anymore.

My eyes are almost blind”.

The duration of a disc was over a hundred hours, and Shen Siwei fast-forwarded through the entire thing, only to find out that it was just an animated film.

He couldn’t understand how someone like Klet who looked so rough and manly, could enjoy this kind of content

Shen Siwei placed the disc back on the CD shelf, and had to reconsider from a different angle.

If a person has children’s items in their home, it can only mean one thing – they have children.

So knock is actually Klet’s son?!

…That’s a bit far-fetched.

As the sky grew dark, the uncomfortable adult products advertisements flickered outside the window again.

Klet still hadn’t returned to the apartment, and there were no new instructions from Moran. Shen Siwei hadn’t found any useful information and decided to take matters into his own hands. He bought pajamas and slippers from an online store and took a comfortable bath.

He felt a bit hungry, and besides the nutritional supplements, there was vacuum-sealed stewed beef in the refrigerator.

His fingers were about to touch the packaging of the nutritional supplement, but Shen Siwei had a thought and ended up taking out the stewed beef.

Shen Siwei poured the heated beef into a plate and savored the taste of food that he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

The sauce was rich, and the meat was tender, a taste that nutritional supplements couldn’t compare to.

He had to admit that this gang leader knew how to enjoy life.

After cleaning up the kitchen, Shen Siwei watched the news for a while.

The news related to Zone Z in the western district was still about the negotiator representing the military negotiating with the refugees, which indicated that the commotion he caused today had no impact on the city.

Bored, he turned off the screen  and thought that Klet probably wouldn’t come back that night. Shen Siwei once again took the liberty and occupied Klet’s single bed.

Unlike yesterday’s instant sleep, today Shen Siwei couldn’t easily fall asleep.

He wandered on the edge of a strange dream while half-asleep and half-awake. After an unknown period of time, he heard the sound of the electronic lock being opened.

“What’s so important that you have to come to my place to talk?”

The deep and distinctive voice belonged to Klet.

Shen Siwei opened his eyes and saw two figures entering the door. One was tall, unmistakably Klet, and the other was shorter, making it difficult to see his appearance clearly.

The lights in the room quickly turned on, and Klet went straight to the kitchen, followed by the other person. Shen Siwei could only see a tall and thin figure from behind.

“It seems like you haven’t been taking me with you much lately.”

The tall and thin figure spoke, with a pleasant young male voice.

Klet took out a beer from the refrigerator and lazily leaned on the kitchen counter. “I’ve been busy.”

The kitchen and the single bed were located at opposite corners of the square room. It seemed that neither of them thought there would be anyone else in the room, so they didn’t notice Shen Siwei.

But if they just glanced towards the bed, they would have seen a golden head peeking out from the corner of the wall, shamelessly eavesdropping on their conversation.

“Is it because you’re busy, or because you don’t want to?” The tall and thin figure took a few steps forward, raising his chin and looking directly at Klet. His questioning tone seemed quite self-evident, and Shen Siwei immediately realized that their relationship was likely not just friendly but more.

After spending a long time in the room without finding any useful information, Shen Siwei hadn’t expected to uncover Klet’s love life so quickly. That was quite unexpected.

Klet still didn’t react much and took a sip of beer. “Believe what you want.”

“So, why exactly?” The young man whose name was Avis asked in confusion, “Why haven’t you touched me even though I’ve been by your side for so long?”

“Huh?” Klet finally put down the beer and frowned, showing obvious impatience. “Do you have some misunderstanding about our relationship?”

So that’s how it is.

Shen Siwei roughly grasped the relationship between the two. The young man liked Klet, but it was unrequited love.

In that case, the conversation had no value because the young man wasn’t Klet’s weak point, and Shen Siwei didn’t find their relationship important and couldn’t help his investigation.

Shen Siwei continued to listen with little interest.

“What misunderstanding could there be?” Avis approached Klet, “There has only ever been me by your side. Doesn’t that prove something?”

“Avis.” Klet furrowed his brows and pushed Avis’ shoulder, “Get it straight. I only saved you in the underground dungeon and brought you with me because you had nowhere else to go. That’s all.”

“But  so many people die in the underground dungeon every year, but you chose to save me?” Avis wouldn’t relent. “Isn’t it because I have black hair and black eyes? I am what you go for, aren’t i?”

Huh?

Shen Siwei perked up his ears.

The people in the Tree of Life had a diverse mix of races with different hair colors, skin colors, and eye colors. Pure black hair and black eyes weren’t very common, but compared to blond hair and blue eyes, it wasn’t particularly special.

Only at this moment did Shen Siwei notice that Avis had a head of black hair, and if he guessed correctly, his eyes should also be black.

“You’re overthinking it.” Klet said.

“I know I’m not overthinking it.” Avis slumped his shoulders and smiled bitterly. “I guess I can’t compare to the person in your heart, can I?”

“What are you talking about?” Klet frowned, becoming even more impatient.

“The person tattooed on your chest.” Avis took on a cynical attitude, “You saved me because I have black hair and black eyes like him. You led everyone to attack the Tree of Life to find him. Am I wrong?!”

Shen Siwei raised an eyebrow in surprise. He thought this conversation had no value, but unexpectedly, there seemed to be more.

However, before he could ponder further, he saw Klet suddenly draw a gun from his waist, pressing Avis’ head against the kitchen counter, the gun pointed at his temple. Klet lowered his voice and warned, “Don’t interfere in my personal affairs.”

Shen Siwei couldn’t help but click his tongue inwardly. He had to admit that Klet did look good, with thick eyebrows, big eyes, a high nose bridge, and a strong physique.

But his easily impatient temperament really needed to change.

Avis took a deep breath and wisely softened his tone. “I was wrong, Klet. I didn’t mean to.”

“If there’s nothing else, then leave.” Klet put away the gun and picked up his beer again.

Avis slowly stood up, hesitating in place for a moment, seemingly unwilling. But in the end, he turned around and walked straight toward the door.

Shen Siwei finally caught a glimpse of half of Avis’ profile, but it was far from enough.

He had to see Avis’ full face in order to easily find him, inquire about him, or force information out of him about Klet.

Seeing Avis about to open the door and leave, Shen Siwei quickly pushed aside the covers, sat up slowly with sleepy eyes, and rubbed his eyes. “You guys are so noisy.”

“Pfft—”

The beer in Klet’s mouth sprayed out directly, and Avis froze in place.

Shen Siwei had no idea that the messy silk pajamas had exposed half of his shoulder, completely focused on putting on a brave act.

“Klet.”

The young man suddenly erupted like a volcano. Avis, with an angry face, pointed at Shen Siwei and interrogated Klet, “We’ve been searching for him all day, and he’s actually in your bed?”

“Cough.” Klet wiped the beer from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, and was completely dumbfounded.
