Chapter 229 Enhanced Strength (1)

The orc tried to grab Jake's sword again, but the moment he touched it, the dark flames appeared. While they didn't cause as much damage as before, that annoying anti-healing effect still was there.

The boss tried to pull the sword away from Jake, but then when the enemy began to raise him with the sword again, Jake grabbed some shurikens from his magic box and threw it on the monster's face. The beast was already preparing his sword to cut him in two in the air, but then it was forced to close its eyes and let Jake go in order to block most of those projectiles. The orc still tried to cut him down, but it only met his sword on the way and pushed him away.

When Jake landed, he saw the monster bleeding a little on its face thanks to the Shurikens, but the wounds were rapidly closing. As expected, he would need to rely on his flames to counter that kind of stupid regeneration speed.

Instead of doing anything, Jake just held his sword tightly while he was making a complicated expression. The monster assumed that he was still suffering from his recent wounds, so it decided to attack him again… the massive enemy sword approached, and the only thing Jake could do was swing his own.

A massive shockwave took place in the middle of the dungeon when both weapons collided. The air began to vibrate and sparks of lightning appeared around them. The orc couldn't hide the shock when he saw Jake not only repelling his attack completely but also pushing him away again. That was the power of Bash and Concentrated Strike… but Jake didn't end there.

Before the monster could stop, Jake used Flash while aiming his sword at the face of the beast. The orc already could tell what it was going to happen. Using his own sword to block the attack wouldn't work… Jake's attack was faster. In the end, the beast tried to block the sword with its hands, but the tip of the weapon just passed through the palm, making the monster grunt in pain. That hand won't be useful for a while… still, once again… the monster held the enemy's blade with its wounded hand to prevent him from pulling it. He also swung his sword horizontally to split Jake's lower and upper half.

"... Stop trying to cut me in half, asshole," Jake said after he let go of his sword and lowered his stance to dodge the attack.

Although he was complaining, Jake still was enjoying the fight a lot. As expected, it was a lot more fun to fight enemies like that than big bosses that couldn't even use weapons. The only downside was that once they are defeated and he gets stronger, the next battles become a lot easier. There were a few things that could surpass the enjoyment caused by a fight where the enemy was stronger and you didn't know much about them.

The massive blade passed above him, and then the beast began to retreat both weapons, but before that motion could even start, Jake summoned two shurikens and enveloped both of them with dark flames before firing at the orc's face. The creature didn't have time to move any of those weapons to protect its face, so the weapons hit and began to grind the flesh thanks to the dark flames. Unfortunately, Jake had aimed at the monster's eyes, but the beast moved its head only its cheek was hit, but at least the weapons pierced the flesh and stayed there. Forced the monster to let go of Jake's sword in order to get rid of the shurikens.

"Asshole…" Jake said when he saw his sword being tossed to the other side of the room.

Jake recovered his sword after using Flash and he used the chance to use some potions as well since the monster was busy. His last attack annoyed the monster and caused a lot of damage as well. Jake's plans were going the way he wanted, but at least he was responding to the enemy's actions relatively well.

Although he recovered some health, the overall flow of the battle didn't change. The monster still had the upper hand and Jake still was weaker and his bones still were recovering from all the impact of blocking and attacking. The only thing in his favor was the fact that the left hand of the enemy was almost unusable and he had to take advantage of that.

"This is like taking forever…" Jake thought while sighing.

Since he wanted to take that weapon and confirm that he could obtain it as long as he doesn't take it after the boss is killed the fighting was quite hard. Still, Jake could tell that it wouldn't be a walk in the park even if that weren't the case.

In any case, the beast soon recovered after throwing away the shurikens. Despite the wounds in his left arm, the monster didn't shy away from charging like a mad dog again. Another big downward swing came and Jake didn't find any other chance but to use Flash to the side to escape the damage in the area caused by the attack. Once again, the dungeon trembled and Jake clicked his tongue since he couldn't keep his foot firmly on the ground… But at least the whole thing gave him an idea.

When the monster charged at him again, Jake used Throw, and the tip of his sword while imbued in dark flames flew toward the enemy's face. The orc used his sword to send Jake's sword falling upward and then prepared the real attack. However, something unexpected happened… While unarmed, Jake used Flash toward the enemy.
