263 Settling Dust?

Valerian was standing in front of the dragon. This beast had scales all over his body, and the body was covered with mud-colored scales, with two horns on his forehead. The young man did say anything, but his stance of walking while leaning forward slightly.

The people did not know what this kid was up to while he was walking towards the dragon, however, the next moment they all saw something that shocked them through the core. Valerian channeled his dragon mana inside his body, without casting any spell from it.

He looked at the dragon in front of him with a cold glare and said, “I do not care whether you seek death or not. However, if you hinder me from aiding the clan that has the protection of Her Majesty, I will destroy you, and the entire clan that you protect.”

He was using the tongue of the dragons and even though the people had seen him do this earlier, they were surprised and not able to digest this. The dragon sensed something horrifying coming from Valerian’s body and shivered. He lowered his head and said, “You, why do you have the aura of the former dragon queen on yourself?”

Valerian replied, “I inherited this from Her Majesty when she passed away. This is why I am favored by the Queen of Dragons now. You may try to harm me, and you will know what will happen to you and the worms you protect.”

The dragon shivered, but he was bound to the word he has given to the Lunakes as well and said, “You must know that the dragons cannot go against their word, I will not break the word and bring dishonor to the gland even though I am no longer part of it.”

Valerian stopped working forward and said “I do not want to destroy anyone. I only need the spell caster in their clan. Just like you have kept your word of protecting them I will keep my word of destroying the spell caster that brings harm to the people under my protection.”

The Dragon was surprised to see that valerian will understand his word and stop; he did not expect the negotiation to be so smooth. Valerian did not say anything and waited patiently for the answer. After pondering over the pros and the cons the Dragon noted slightly.

The young man said, “I will not wait any longer to bring me the spellcaster and consider this incident over.”

The Dragon turned around and looked at the lunakes behind him as he said, “Go, do what he told you just now.”

The Lunakes could not understand what was going on, after all, the beast in front of them was their protector. how come he was asking for them to settle with the condition of sacrificing their own people?

One of the commanders in the lunake Army stepped forward and said, ” Lord, why shall we go down to this guy? Who is he?”

Looking at the man the Dragon did not answer him with words, but he directly blew fire on him, and the commander turned into ashes on the spot. This action scared the lunakes, and the leader of the lunakes immediately said, “Go and do what the lord said.”

The lunake army did not have any other options so they decided to give in. Valerian did not move or say anything; he stood there calmly circulating the Dragon mana inside him. The reason he was standing so silently was, the Dragon mana, it was not easy to circulate this thing as easily as he circulated his battle aura or mana. he was afraid that his bluff would be called. if that happened not only will he but the entire clar-awk Army will suffer the range of a dragon.

Soon after, the spell casters were brought forward. Valerian cast them a cold glare and said, ” I shall be taking these people with me. I hope that you do not have any problems with that.”

The Dragon glanced at the boy in front of him and nodded.

Valerian returned the gesture and with a wave of his hand commanded the soldiers behind him to capture the spell casters. Then he looked at the Dragon again and said, ” If you wish, I can talk to her Majesty for you. What you did today was to help your kin without looking for rewards. you also managed to keep your promise even if you had to compromise. This action should be enough to redeem yourself.”

The old Dragon shook his head gently, as he replied, ” thank you for your consideration, however, the reason I was exiled from the clan was something much bigger than this, if one day you manage to find that reason and you still believe that my actions today over the of my Redemption, then you can come and find me here. Also, from today onwards none of the Lunakes will attack the clar-awks. you have my word.”

Valerian nodded and said, “If you can keep your word to me then you have my eternal gratitude.”

That said, the spell casters were apprehended and the army was commanded to retreat. The Lunakes wanted to blame the guardian beast but they were afraid and when they all looked at their leader, who asked, “Lord, what was it that made you give in to that request so easily?”

The Dragon looked at the sky and let out a sigh, “You do not understand because you have not yet seen that horror of the Mana contained in the body of that boy. would you believe me if I told you that that boy was capable of laying waste to all that you have here?”

The leader of the Lunake army was surprised to hear such a remark, this was unexpected for him. Dragons are the Pinnacle of Magical existence anywhere in this world. Today, he witnessed the Pinnacle of Magical existence buying down to what was always considered the lowest of them all, a human.

While the lunakes drowning in shame, regret, and loss. Valerian and the maiden have led their people back to the clar-awk clan. the proverb that somebody’s loss was somebody else’s profit had been proven correct today.

Inside the village of the Clar-awks, the people were surprised to see that the majority of their soldiers were returning in one piece, and the maiden was safe as well. Valerian was pulling a bunch of people behind him with ropes.

The spectacle was witnessed by everyone in the village. The crowd was accelerated at the victorious return of these brave men and women. They never expected them to win and return with such a low casualty rate. It was inevitable for someone to fail on the battlefield but what everyone needed to understand and learn from this episode was to grow stronger and always respect the fall and comrades.

After reaching the Sripa palace, Valerian asked the maiden, “Your Excellency, can you now deal with the issue of Miss Shiba? I do not wish for her to suffer any longer than necessary.”

The maiden looked at the boy in front of him with a gentle gaze, and said, ” you do not have to worry about this, master valerian. I have assigned the best investigator we have in the forces to find our primary target and then have him do the spell. we should have results soon.”

Valerian nodded in understanding, it was not easy to determine who was the person who cast a mind spell on Shiba, after all, mind spells were a special type of spell that was cast by a medicus who had a good command over the connections inside the brain of a creature.

While Medicus focuses on healing art, a spell caster will use the same knowledge to bring harm to his enemy. The worst thing was that the spell casters could walk among normal people like they had no rules and were the sneakiest of them all.

Valerian decided to go and busy himself while the investigation was being carried out. The young man made his way to the shop and came to find that the old man was missing. He did not understand what was going on as Old Man fern would rather spend his days in the shop than go out for a stroll.

He fished out a key from his magic pouch and took out the key to unlock the door and entered the shop. Since he was going to divert his mind he decided to work on his forging skills. After a couple of hours, a guard from the palace arrived and told him that the spell caster was found and the situation was resolved.

However, they had not been able to find old man Fern. Valerian was surprised and then set out to look for the old man. He recalled that if the old man was nowhere to be found then he was most likely going to visit his late wife. However, what happened next was even more shocking for him to see.
