Volume 1 - CH 3

Namito Kominato must find a club

A week has passed since the stormy first day of school.

Here in the classroom of the first-year class, the morning sun is shining brightly. In class, groups of friends have already begun to form here and there.

A group of people who seem to be at the back of the class.

The nerdy group.

A serious-looking group, a slightly but scary-looking-delinquent group.

And then.

“Good morning, Kominato-kun.”

“Oh, Arai. Good morning”

The one who greeted and approached me was Arai Hinata.

On the first day of school, I thought she looked like a committee chairperson the moment I met her, and in no time at all, she was recommended by the whole class to be the committee chairperson.

The class seems to think of her as a friendly girl who always has a kind smile on her face, but I remember a conversation we had once. I remember a conversation we had once that was a little strange.

I wonder what that was all about.

But I’m so happy that I’m being recommended for the chair of the committee. I’m sure I must have misheard something, or else I’m mistaken. I’ll do that. Otherwise, I would be scared.

Arai greeted me and went to her seat.

And one more person.

“Oh oh… good morning… Kominato-kun…”

“Good morning, Kamiyama-sa -SWEAT! SWEAT…! Oh… the floor is getting flooded again… ”

Samidare Kamiyama-san, the girl sitting in front of me. She is sweating profusely today with a paper bag on his head. I spoke to Kamiyama-san, who was wearing a brown paper bag,

She was sweating so much that her whole body was dripping and her mountains were as big as melons.

“Kamiyama-san, are you still nervous to talk to me?”

…Yes… I am nervous… shimashimashita…”

Kamiyama mumbled in a funny voice and sat down on her seat.

“You don’t have to be so nervous.”

“I’m Nervous! I am! I am!”

Ms. Kamiyama shouted in a voice that echoed throughout the class and remained frozen in her place, her hair sticking out of the hem of her paper bag and sweat dripping from the hem of her skirt.

Everyone in the class was used to it by now and didn’t want anything to do with us except to give us a distant look and say, “Oh, it’s the same old thing again, isn’t it?

Arai is kind to everyone. She was always concerned about us who were out of the class circle, and the three of us began to talk together more and more often.

Arai, who had put her bag on her seat, returned.

“Good morning, Ms. Kamiyama. Speaking of which, have you two decided on your club activities yet?”

However, Kamiyama-san was usually silent, screaming, or sweating.

When Arai spoke to her, Kamiyama-san stiffened.

“Clu-clu… Club activities…! I… I haven’t decided yet…!

I answer Arai’s question.

“I haven’t decided yet, either. I’m not sure if I’m going to enter the go home club.”

I was a homecoming club member in junior high school, and I wasn’t thinking of doing any club activities in high school either. I had never been a fan of troublesome things.

I answered bluntly, and Arai moved closer to me and said,

“No, Kominato-kun. In our school, you have to belong to a club.”

I muttered to myself.

“Another troublesome school culture…”

I looked out the window with a sigh. Outside, the petals of the cherry blossoms were beginning to flutter.

You must belong to one of the clubs, right? If so, has Arai already decided which club to join? I decided to ask Arai.

“Well, Arai, have you already decided which club you are going to join?

“I don’t know yet either. I was on the swim team in junior high school, but I want to do something new in high school.”

Well, that’s a very active thing to do.

Arai looked at my face and Kamiyama-san’s paper bag alternately and then said in a happy voice.

“Hey, if you want, why don’t we go visit various club activities together today?”

“It’s too much trouble, can I pass?”

“No.”

Arai smiled kindly at me. Then she turned toward Kamiyama-san and put her hand on her shoulder.

I’ll pretend I didn’t hear a smacking sound the moment she placed her hand on her shoulder.

“Hey, Kamiyama-san. Were you involved in any club activities in junior high school?”

At Arai’s question, Kamiyama-san shakes her head from side to side. Sweat splatters from the paper bag and splashes on my face.

“Then, if you haven’t decided what club you’re going to join yet, why don’t you come with me and take a look around, Kamiyama-san? Right?”

“…haha yes! Club activities… I want to try something too…….”

In a voice that sounded like it was about to fade away at the end, Kamiyama-san answered.

“Then it’s decided. I’ll see you later then.”

Arai said and returned to her seat.

Club activities… honestly, it seems like a hassle, I thought and sighed.
