CH 20

Chapter 20 – A Medal for Surviving a Deadly Battle (Yuzuriha’s POV)

A dream.

A dream in which Suzuha-kun’s older brother devours my lips and repeatedly tells me to do my  best and not to die.

No matter how many times I told Suzuha-kun’s older brother that I was fine, he didn’t seem to hear me.

I realized that this was my first kiss…but that did not matter.

I am mortally wounded. I will die for sure.

I know that better than anyone.

Ever since I was a little girl, I decided that I would fall in love with someone stronger than me.

I am the daughter of a duke. My father will decide whom I marry, and I am not free to decide.

That’s why I wanted to choose my own romantic partner.

In this aspect, Suzuha-kun’s older brother is strong, kind, and cool under pressure. Although he may have various flaws in daily life, when push comes to shove, he becomes strong and cool.

So I thought I could give him my first kiss.

I would be even more grateful if he would rub my overgrown b*****s wildly and have s*x with me straight away. (T/N: Dem…)

I don’t want to die a virgin.

But then again, as a knight, you never know when you’re going to die, so I guess I should have done it earlier—

“—riha-san! Yuzuriha-san!”

“…However, high-class male prostitutes are quite expensive… Mmnya…?” (T/N: Yuzuriha that hurni…)

“Yuzuriha-san! Thank God, you’ve regained consciousness…!”

Suzuha-kun’s older brother hugged me tightly with warm tears streaming down his eyes.

Is this heaven?

****

“—No, no, no, I’ve killed so many enemy soldiers. I should definitely be going to h**l… I see, then this must be a new and innovative cruel torture h**l that lifts you up to the peak of happiness once and then drops you down…!”

“Hey, Yuzuriha-san? I’m telling you, this is neither heaven nor h**l, I mean, Yuzuriha-san, you’re still alive, you know?”

“Huh?”

What are you talking about, Suzuha-kun’s brother? Yuzuriha thought. A hand went through me and pierced my torso, there’s no way I could have survived. Could it be Touko’s stupidity rubbed off on Yuzuriha?

“…I can tell by the way Yuzuriha is staring at me that Yuzuriha has a ridiculously rude idea in her eyes, but unfortunately it’s true, okay?”

“I don’t understand. Why am I alive?”

“No matter how you look at it, Suzuha’s older brother treated Yuzuriha’s fatal injury. Isn’t it better to cry and thank him?”

“—Suzuha-kun’s older brother is actually also a great healer?”

“No, that’s not what I meant…”

According to what Yuzuriha and the others heard, Suzuha’s older brother is capable of using his own immense life force and magical power to convert and transfer it to others, and has developed a unique healing magic.

However, he is completely self-taught and unable to control it properly. It seems that he can only use it in extremely limited situations, such as when a fatal blow is delivered in front of him.

This is exactly what happened this time.

“Also, what about the wandering white-haired vampire…?”

“She got away.”

Suzuha’s older brother’s face contorted in frustration.

“Don’t make that face. It’s a miracle that we’re alive after encountering that demon.”

“Yes…”

“Oh, right. What happened to the new students?”

“It looks like they fled when they realized we were in combat. It seems that there were a few minor injuries, but they didn’t engage in any combat with that demon.”

“Well, good. That’s good.”

When Yuzuriha tried to thank Suzuha’s older brother for all his hard work, saying that it was all thanks to him they were alive…

“It’s all thanks to Yuzuriha-san, isn’t it?”

“…How can that be?”

“Thanks to Yuzuriha-san, who risked her life to distract the wandering white-haired vampire’s attention, we were able to somehow drive away that demon. It goes without saying.”

“…Is that so?”

“Of course.”

The number of times Yuzuriha has been praised in war is uncountable.

These praises are so natural to her that she doesn’t feel any emotion when she receives them, and for many years she’s been feeling tired of hearing praises.

…But…

To be praised by a commoner boy for such a near-death experience, she was so happy that she wanted to jump.

For the first time in her life, she even felt like she was really being praised.

“—I see. I understand now. All this time, all I wanted was—”

Yuzuriha understood.

She doesn’t want to be praised by anyone.

She had always wanted to be praised by her partner, someone she could trust with her back, someone she could risk her life for.

“Also, Yuzuriha-san, there’s one more thing I’m really sorry about…”

“What is it?”

“I healed Yuzuriha’s body, but I wasn’t capable enough and the scar is still there…”

When Yuzuriha turned down to look at her b*****s, which were larger than melons, she could clearly see the marks where the demon’s fist had penetrated them.

Touko gazed down at Yuzuriha’s chest.

“Well, but Suzuha’s older brother was busy healing Yuzuriha at that time, so it couldn’t be helped. He’s not a professional healer either.”

“Yes. Touko is right.”

“And maybe, just maybe, I think a scar like this would heal quite nicely if you went back to the royal capital and had a real healer take a look at it, wouldn’t it?”

“Yes. But that’s not good.”

“Huh? Yuzuriha, what does that mean?”

“I will have this scar as is.”

This scar is like a medal that I have received for fighting to the death with my comrades.

It would be outrageous to throw it away.
