Chapter 612: About the systems (1)

"What do you mean by that?"

With my attention already focused on the treasure trove in front of me, I still somehow managed to retain the minimum amount of brainpower to not leave Eve's statement in the void. While I knew that I always spent a lot of my efforts and attention to crafting as it was the easiest way for me to increase my personal power and influence in a quick manner, I never really expected anyone and especially Eve to make any point out of it!

"Come on, don't you remember? What was the first thing that you asked me back in the sword sect? What was the main thing that you focused on while in the arena city? From what I saw in your memories, even when you were creating that private world of yours, you put a huge emphasis on bringing its industrial capabilities up to speed!"

Earlier, I might've wondered where did Eve knew words such as industrial or emphasis, but just by digging around the same sentences she used those words in, the answer was rather clear. It was my memories that allowed to look at her from a mixed perspective of both the local inhabitant of this world and someone who had the knowledge about the earth where magic was replaced with technology.

Also, the wordings she used didn't make her point any less important. Forced into a daze by her words, I couldn't help but admit her to be right in the end. While the last period of time that basically begun once we appeared on this continent, this end-game of this world of sorts, was completely devoid of any realistic crafting that Eve knew me from, maybe her idea to pick it up was something actually right on point?

"Well, you speak the truth so there isn't any point in denying it.But it's not like I ever found it… No, who am I trying to fool. I love seeing how scraps are turned into something pretty valuable. Maybe its a part of the personality that comes from my original world…"

Just as I was about to admit that it might be just a part of my insecurities that made me invested in crafting so much, as it allowed me to bear all the living costs of the two of us without needing to spend an entire day outside as my real parents did with their respective works. But as soon as I mentioned the earth, I realised that there was a topic that was far more important to discuss that something as minor as crafting.

"You know, there are some things that you need to understand."

Picking up random pieces of scraps that were lying around the backyard, I summoned my crafting sphere before throwing them all inside. Selecting the option to diffuse them back into the basic ores and materials, I realised that while my sphere was still working on the items of the grade respective to the end-game area of this world, it simply required way more time to process it.

"You know that I came here from another world. I never intended to hide it away from it, and not only did you manage to guess it yourself but I also explained to it long ago. But the thing is… This world is actually filled with people quite similar to me."

Moving my eyes between the insides of my crafting sphere and focused expression on Eve's face, I sighed deeply before sitting down directly on the ground. From the looks of it, it would take at least a few minutes for my sphere to finish separating various elements from each other, so there wasn't any point in just staring at it through all this time.

"One thing you need to understand is that… My system… No, let me start from a different direction."

With my thoughts moving back to the Bonger, I realised that this wasn't the topic that I could explain as easily as I thought. Without the extensive background of playing games and generally learning the paradigms that governed the life on earth, understanding some concepts that were obvious to me might prove challenging to someone that never ever heard about them in the first place.

"Let me get it from this direction. You should still remember Bonger, don't you?"

Instead of turning the entire talk into my private monologue, I decided that forcing Eve to interact during this talk would make it easier for her to understand those complicated concepts.

"Yeah. He was quite strange and I recall you claiming that he is a system of yours…"

The look of hesitation on Eve's face was all that I required to understand what was problematic for her in the attempt to understand the concept of systems.

"You see, Bonger… he is quite specific for a system. For most of the people, the system limits itself to designing tasks, targets and easy ways to achieve them. Those systems were created by the gods that pulled people like me from earth to this world so that they could quickly achieve greatness and advance to the higher realm. That's also the reason why this entire city is madly set on ascending to the higher realm, as it is the main target of the people that have it easy to become a powerhouse."

Taking a few breaths to sort my thoughts, I cast a quick glance to the crafting sphere of mine. Seeing that the prime materials were already neatly separated into different piles, I quickly came out with a simple mould of a knife before pushing the sphere to fill the imaginary form with the materials.

"On the other hand, there is Bonger. To this day I have no idea how, but there seems to be something broken inside him, that saved me from being just another element in the puzzle set by the so-called gods. Thanks to Bonger being a faulty system in the first place, not only I grew in a way different manner to others, but the Bonger managed to obtain a physical body for itself as well."

Gazing at Eve for a moment, I could see that this way of explaining managed to solve her doubts a bit. Sadly, it would take me way longer to actually make her understand everything perfectly.

"If that's the case, then shouldn't you be more worried about your system… missing? I can't even recall when was the last time that I saw Bonger!"
