CH 1

Only a few days after I was born, I was left on the door steps of a Women’s Hospital Center.

I grew up in an orphanage facility, and right after high-school, I was employed by a merciless company.

I worked overtime stacked on top of overtime hours, and it was all unpaid.

At the age of 23, I was worn down to the bone physically, mentally, and emotionallyーーso much so that a slight bump at the train station sent meーー

ーーinto the path of the oncoming train which ended my life.

Or so I thought……….but I woke up the next moment.

“Congratulations, Sir Marquis of Lonneberg. Your son seems to be a holder of a [Talent].” “A Talent?! IーIs that true?! They say only 1 in 10,000 receive a [Talent].....but….what kind of ability are we talking about, Priest?” Talent? Marquis? What are theyーーwait, is this?!

Being reborn into an Isekaiーーー?!

And from what I’m hearing, I seemed to have been born into a noble’s family.

Doesn’t that mean that I’ve pretty much won the lottery?!

“Then let us take a look at your son’s [Talent].” Marquis Lonneberg: “Thank you, Priest.” He raises my arms and makes me touch something like a crystalline sphere.

The crystal sphere brightens, and letters began appearing on the surface.

I can’t read itーーno, actually, I could read the latter part.

【ーーBOX】

BOX?

What about a box? “SーSir Marquis….please take a look at this….” “Alchemy……...Alchemy……..how do you read these last letters?” “IーI am not certain, but I believe this is most likely Alchemy-related.” “WHAT?!”

Alchemy? The Marquis seemed to get words stuck in his throat upon the news, but.....is that last part I couldn’t read saying that it’s Alchemy?

Alchemy is one of the most top popular terms along with Sage in Light Novels.

Yes!

Now I’m certain that I’m on the winning team!

When I turned 3, I asked the milk maid to bring me books about Alchemy, and she brought the books out of the mansion’s library.

I wanted to learn about Alchemy as soon as possible.

“But sir, are you able to read the words on the page?” “Yes. Grandma reads stories to me. I learned from that.” I try to say this in a cute way like a 3 year old would.

Right now, I am livingーーnot in the Lonneberg Family mansionーーbut in the servant quarters.

My mother had postpartum complications and passed away a month after giving birth to me.

I was then expelled out of the mansion and lived with my milk maid.

My father, the Marquis of Lonneberg, has not once come and visited me.

I don’t know why.

Seriously, I’m a rare 1 in 10,000 [Talent] holders.

But all of my doubts these past 3 years were quickly washed away.

As I read the book the milk maid brought me, I stood there in ghastly astonishment.

Alchemy in this world isーーno different than elementary school science experiments or no different than a cooking recipe book.

Burning copper creates a green colored flame.

Take the herbs A + B + B +D and stir fry until it turns into a paste and……...you made curry.

Of course, there are potion recipes, but you have to boil, extract the concentrated material, and it is time-consuming and labor-intensive process.

“IーI thought Alchemy would be like Magic where I could make things, combine things, make Chimeras, and Homunculi…….isn’t that what Alchemy is?!” “Huh? Chimer….what?”

“It’s combining Monsters together and stuff!”

“Well, that would be frightful. Alchemy is…...well, it was regarded very highly back in ancient days, but it was a Skill used to discover how to make medicines and discovery masonry methods.” That’s……..wait, so Alchemy is what we would call in games, how people would go around and find and discover recipes…….?

And Alchemy would allow them to do this for multiple fields of study.

The discovered recipes would then be handed to a specialized craftsman…...and the Alchemists job is done. They only searched for new recipes.

That’s whyーー

“Once they exhausted all possibilities of discovering new medicines and technological recipes, it became an obsolete Skill.”

“ThーThen…..that’s why………..that’s why Father……..” Now that I think about it, I think the Marquis, my father, had a very disappointed expression on his face.

Both he and the Priest must have thought that I received a trash [Talent].

But my mother was still kindly smiling at me the whole time. I remember it clearly to this day.

So she must have known too.

About my actual [Talent].

My [Talent] ーー

ーーfor whatever reason had English letters that no one else could read in this wordーーabout the [Alchemy BOX].
