Chapter 8 - 8

'Wizards are one of the top predators in the known multidimensional food chain.

In the known void there are 3 main civilizations; the Wu civilization, which focuses on tempering both body and soul without cultivating laws, the science federations which focus on analyzing the universe in form of data and heavily dependent on foreign objects and the wizarding civilization that uses runes to analyze and create laws.

Each civilization has birthed a number of strong and unique powerhouses, their unique resources and complete system of promotion that shows a complete path to become Xeon attracts others to become part of the civilization, almost all powerful civilization's present today has a shadow of one or more of the big 3 behind them.

Although other unique and powerful emerges occasionally it is impossible to shake the status of the big 3.'

Closing the book titled wizarding and void studies for fools, Layton couldn't help but curse the author whenever he saw the title unfortunately the author did not provide his name, although the books name was not encouraging the knowledge contained inside was quite comprehensive.

It had been 3 months since Layton had been formally accepted by solace, although he didn't get to join a wizarding school like he imagined and his mentor was majoring in light elements not the dark element the same as him but Layton was still satisfied with his current situation, it was only him and solace in the tower so he had enough resources for his use and although solace didn't have habits of owning a lot of books, the ones he did have were unique and provided a lot of insight.

Of course all the books weren't necessarily helpful Like the 'book of the law' Layton saw once written by Magister Crowley a legend in occult and magic studies with his projection scattered in many exotic planes, the knowledge in there had almost driven his soul to the brink of death if solace had not rescued him in time he would have died.

Subsequently solace had locked up his few collections and only harmless ones were left for Layton to read like baby's guide to the void, rune dictionary for kids etc.

although the names were not ideal the books did have their merits according to solace although the books were really for kids they were for kids with a powerful and rich families in the wizarding world and helped build a solid foundation in the apprentice stage, most wizards who couldn't read it earlier lamented their missed opportunities as advancement to a higher level was unimaginably difficult as a result of their messed up foundation.

Leaving the reading room Layton hurried down to the spell laboratory, although he had been reading and exposed to a lot in the past 3 month, apart from meditation he had not formally started practicing yet.

To become a wizard apprentice as long as one's mental strength was sufficient a rune needed to be drawn in his soul, this rune would then transform the mind replacing meditation and would allow one to use the rune to perform spell like effects.

When one's mind has been transformed to a gas like substance then another rune could be inscribed to enable one to advance to a formal wizard, according to what Layton learnt, as wizards advanced further they would combine their runes to form new powerful structures and spells.

Although it sounded simple but It was a treacherous process to practice, no two runes were the same, the runes engraved needed to be modified by one's self and the choice of runes engraved is very important there was almost no way to change engraved runes except for some rare and powerful treasures, so most people don't rush to advance and spend a lot of time researching and trying to create a powerful rune that would match the previous ones and enable it to form a unique rune structure with powerful spell effects.

Apart from a collection of common runes that are a available to almost anyone special unique runes that could be used without modification are found in exotic plane travels, by killing and absorbing the soul of the exotic planes creatures with some special occult rituals the souls would solidify and turn into runes representing core parts of their extraordinary systems.

Solace did not have suitable unique dark system runes for Layton level in his collection but he did have a rare soul type rune he had gotten from what he called sea world, when Layton had gotten the crystal with the rune name overlord domineering Layton was certainly sure solace had been to one-piece world.

Although the rune was good enough to be merged without modification, Layton still wasn't fully convinced he had spent three months analyzing and researching in order to create the best rune for him.

And he has gained results, combined with his foreknowledge of the plot knowledge of runes and solace's help he had been able to modify the rune into one that could not only achieve overlord domineering but the other types as well, the rune now transformed based on the basic rune representing information was able to send manipulate the information everyone perceived in a certain range and so if he activated the rune he would send out information to everyone forcefully magnifying his presence and danger oppressing their wills and forming the effect of overlord domineering, he could also use it to receive information and magnify his perception creating his own color domineering, and as for armed domineering it wasn't perfect yet but at present it was only able to bombard the opponent with a bunch of harmful information making every attack affect the soul.

Today was the day he finally engraved his rune and became a wizard apprentice, entering the spell room and taking out the crystal containing the modified rune, he put it to his forehead and sank his mind into it confirming the structure and then recreating it in his own mind. As the last stroke was engraved Layton soul shook and the rune vibrated floating in the center of the space releasing mist.

As the first strand of mist was born Layton knew he was successful, he had finally started on his wizarding path.
