CH 61

After crossing several courtyards, they finally arrived at an extremely exquisite pavilion. One could easily infer from a glance that the owner of this place had been receiving extreme preferential treatment in the Chen household.

In fact, Su Jin had obtained the layout of the Chen residence beforehand in preparation for this trip. Ever since the Dark Reaper Guild had completely fallen under Liao Ping’s control, this was a simple task to accomplish.

With a chop to the back of her neck, the nanny on night duty lost consciousness, and Su Jin proceeded to gently push the door to the main room open.

She headed straight towards the figure lying within the canopy bed.

Lifting the curtain slightly, the scent of a woman’s boudoir drifted towards her. A glint of light flashed across her eyes as she intensely stared at the sleeping woman.

Feeling curious, the System craned its neck to get a view of the woman…

But as it approached, the System experienced a sudden outburst of gibberish codes rapidly flashing before it. Pressing its tiny hand against its chest, indescribable feelings of repulsion started to well up from within its heart, as if… it was trying to reject something.

At first sight, the System had innately disliked the woman.

Averting its eyes, the System pouted and sat down cross-legged in silence.

Su Jin, who had yet to notice the strange behaviour of the System, stroked her chin as she appraised the sleeping lady.

She broke into a devilish grin as she muttered to herself. “Well, well… I’ve finally found you.”

……

Chen Xinyue felt as though she was entrapped within a nightmare, as she desperately struggled for her life. Her discomfort was evident from the thin layer of sweat forming across her forehead.

“System, do you find it more satisfying to strangle her or stab her?”

Su Jin scanned the sleeping figure from head to toe, as though observing a lamb soon due for the slaughterhouse. Her words carried a cold, murderous tone.

“System? Did you fall into hibernation mode again?”

Su Jin quietly called out again when she did not hear a response from the System.

(This guy… shouldn’t have gone off to slack and play games again, right?)

She had noticed that whenever the System was skiving off, it would pretend to be asleep.

“Do whatever you want…”

Just as Su Jin was about to make a decision, a faint voice resounded in her mind and left her startled.

The System had been behaving normally up until a moment ago. Why did it suddenly lose its spirits? Did something happen?

Could the System have lost a game or was it being bullied by another System again?

“What’s wrong, System?”

“Nothing, I… want to get out of this place.”

Su Jin turned back and looked the person on the bed, as she fell into deep thoughts.

“Do you have some form of attachment to her? Or couldn’t bear to let me kill her? ”

Afraid of being misunderstood, the System weakly explained, “I just… find her repulsive!”

It was the first time that Su Jin had seen the System in such a dismal state. Empathizing for her partner, Su Jin felt as though she had been infected by the downcast mood too.

Since she was unhappy, there was no way she would condone anyone feeling better than her!

While Su Jin did not understand why the System became depressed, considering that the System was originally meant to be bound to that woman, Su Jin deduced that there might be some unknown connection between the two of them.

Nonetheless, since that woman had caused the System feel miserable, then it was no longer a matter of simply ending her life with just a single stab!

Su Jin coldly stared at the individual on the bed, sharpening her gaze as she spoke in jest.

“Since you hate her, should we vent it out on her?”

“Ending her life with a simple stab while she is still asleep… no matter how I look at it… wouldn’t that too good of a release for her? Let us play with her for a little bit, before sending her off to the afterlife, shall we?”

Su Jin coaxed her partner. She was fond of the System who was always energetic and its silly antics.

System#2250 hesitated for a moment, noticing the concern within Su Jin’s eyes. It straightened its small back, forced itself to perk up and replied cheerfully, “Good, let’s abuse her!”

“Then our first step should be to ruin her reputation, followed by tormenting her body and mind! I’ll be generous and charge her at a discounted rate for the full package deal.”

With sparkling eyes, the System asked excitedly, “How should we do it?”

Su Jin stroked her chin and revealed a wicked grin.

“System, compile and make replicas of every single poem from the Tang and Song Dynasty, indicating the respective author and the concept and inspiration behind their work. Since she enjoys being in the limelight, we should prepare the best stage for her.”

The System started to feel better, as its enthusiasm seemed to have returned. It’s time to wreck things up!

While the System energetically reproduced the poems, Su Jin quietly frisked the wardrobe of that woman, stealing and stuffing a few embroidered handkerchiefs within her sleeves while she frowned in disgust.

Su Jin had considered requesting the System to store them in the spatial inventory, but ultimately sighed and gave up on that option, lest the System returned to an emotionally unstable state.

Glancing at the pieces of personal intimate belongings of that woman she had stolen, a wicked smile formed on Su Jin’s face.

Not planning to prolong her stay, Su Jin took another glimpse at the sleeping figure with a chilly gaze before swiftly departing from the place.

……

The night was still deep as Su Jin glanced at the moon. She did not want to return home yet and wasn’t sleepy for now.

She… had a sudden urge to go take a look at Guaibao, and while she was at it… visit him as well!

Right, that’s how a self-empowered woman should behave!

Perhaps she had been subconsciously preparing for this moment after all. Upon arriving at the capital today, she had somehow inquired and found out the location of the man’s residence – His high status as a prince barely impeded her from obtaining that information.

…..

In the Qilan Courtyard within the Prince’s mansion, a little girl was lying on a luxurious bed in the master bedroom, letting out light snores, seeming to be soundly asleep.

A sudden forceful push of her foot caused the quilt covers to slip down. If it was as per usual, the maid on duty would be there to pick it up and cover her up.

However, there was a different presence in the room tonight. The maid was slumped at a side, as Su Jin sat by the edge of the bed, watching and occasionally pinching the chubby little feet of Guaibao. It was extremely meaty, and she seemed to be eating well.

Her cheeks were rosy and her lips were curled upwards, indicating that she was experiencing pleasant dreams.

From the looks of it, she had been living a good life.

Observing the sleeping figure of her darling for a little longer, Su Jin then gently pinched her chubby hand and kissed it, before tucking her in the quilt and leaving.

Now that she had checked on her daughter… naturally she should go check on her daughter’s father as well.

Otherwise… it would be a wasted trip!
