Chapter 329 Someone Upset Her More Than Me?

"Shit!" The curse word slipped out of Samuel's mouth before he could even realize it. That call hardly went how he'd hoped it would. Lena shut him down the moment he tried to talk to her. Only a few words out and she pushed him away without a second thought.

He ran an agitated hand through his hair. Perhaps coming out here hadn't been the best decision after all. How could he fix things with her if he couldn't even get her to talk to him? Samuel flopped back down on the bed forcing a creaking groan from the box springs. Just his luck that he would be having to deal with this.

He could hope at least he'd not said anything loud that Jovani would've heard it. Their rooms might've been a few doors down, but his older cousin seemed to have magical ears that allowed for him to hear anything. Not to mention, the room itself was rather small compared to the one that Samuel had gotten used to being with Lena.

Samuel kept one eye fixed on the door as he picked up his phone once more. Not even one text had been sent back. Lena never kept the read receipt option active on her phone which made it difficult to tell if she'd even looked at what he sent her.

He stared down at the background photo on his phone until he began to feel sick again. That look in Lena's eyes… He still couldn't believe that she fixed him with that stare. Pointing the gun at him as though she'd have been willing to fire without a second thought. Samuel shut his eyes and took a deep breath to ground himself as the sound of the gunshot echoed in his head. So loud as though it just flew past his head mere moments ago rather than the actual hours that passed since the situation.

He gripped the comforter on the bed to help ground himself. He discovered rather quickly that touching something physical he could feel and focus on helped him to get past the strange feelings that rushed through his body. The claustrophobia and fear mixed with something else he couldn't quite put his finger.

It would take him some time to get over that. If he could actually manage to get over it. Having never been in this type of situation before, Samuel couldn't be certain of how this type of thing worked out. Did one normally manage to get over the fact that their fiancé shot at them and fixed them with a look that promised the next bullet wouldn't miss if they fired again.

Samuel didn't know if anyone even actually had the answer to that kind of question. He certainly didn't think that Jovani would be the right person to ask. He seemed quite happy with his current fiancé. Despite the fact that Eve seemed somewhat intimidating and more than capable of handling her own, she didn't come across as the kind of person that would've pointed a gun at Jovani's head or even tried to shoot him in the first place.

"Oy, you're still looking like you're feeling a bit green around the gills. Are you sure that there isn't anything about the situation you want to talk with me about?" The voice followed a hard rap on the door. Jovani didn't even bother to ask before he opened the door and began to talk. He'd at least changed shirts and fixed his arm up once more to get rid of the blood that had begun to seep through by the time they'd finished eating.

"Do you really intend to try and stay in here the whole time and sulk about the matter until it somehow magically manages to resolve itself?" The older cousin leaned against the door frame as he watched the other. Samuel didn't look himself. In fact, compared to his expression during lunch, it seemed he lost even more of himself in just the short time since Jovani saw him.

"I don't think that there is anything for us to talk about. This isn't the kind of question that you would be able to do anything to help with. I don't think that I need to remind you that you and Lena aren't exactly on the best of terms right now." Jovani made a sound of protest at this comment. He stepped further into the room before kicking the door shut behind him.

"I am probably one of the few people around here who would be able to help you with this situation. The question is whether you want to give me the chance to help or not. Certainly, the princess and I aren't on the bed of terms right now. That doesn't mean that there isn't anything that I can do to help you out." The Vedova Nera boss chose to take a seat on the bed next to his younger cousin, throwing his good arm around the other.

"Try me with whatever it is you're dealing with right now and I will see what I can do to help. If it turns out there isn't anything, I won't have any problem admitting that and maybe instead I can direct you to someone who could resolve this issue. Julian seems kind of enough and we do have a bit of a business partnership background." Samuel offered his older cousin a wry smile in response to his suggestion. Alonso must've not told him what took place between Lena and her uncle.

"I don't think that Julian would the right person to ask right now. I wasn't the only one there that Lena ended up having an issue with. Her uncle might perhaps be higher up on the list of people she isn't feeling very kindly towards than you are right now." Jovani's mouth feel open at this comment as he leaned back to see if the other might've been joking.

"Well shit. I didn't think that there would be anyone else capable of putting her into a worse mood than myself. It seems as though I was mistaken in that regard."

Could it be that he might actually be able to catch an unexpected break if this were to be the case.
