CH 40.1

Do You Still Hate Her? 30 – “You care about me, right?”

Shang Lu didn’t know how long she had been crying.

In any case, it was until she was exhausted from crying, the corners of her eyes stinging from wiping away tears too many times, and her throat had become hoarse.

Finally, she leaned on Chi Yan’s shoulder and was carried away by him.

Once they were in the car.

Shang Lu sat in the passenger seat, allowing Chi Yan to lean over and fasten her seatbelt, gently using a tissue to wipe away the tear marks on her cheeks.

Shang Lu opened her mouth to say something, but her throat felt dry and painful.

Chi Yan opened a bottle of mineral water and handed it to her. Shang Lu tried to take it, but her hand felt weak and the bottle fell, hitting her leg and causing a bit of pain. Some water splashed on Chi Yan’s suit that covered her legs, and the mineral water bottle rolled onto the car seat.

The pain finally brought back some scattered rationality. Shang Lu looked at everything in a daze, as if she had just realized what had happened.

In a hoarse voice, she said, “…I’m sorry.”

She hadn’t done anything right, instead, she had dirtied his clothes and his car.

Chi Yan didn’t say anything, he just suddenly got out of the car.

The car door was closed.

Shang Lu looked at his departing figure in confusion.

Was he angry? Probably, after all, Chi Yan had been taking care of her.

She closed her eyes.

Repeatedly telling herself not to cry anymore, to stop quickly.

This kind of useless weakness, why waste so much time on it, this isn’t her.

But the more she thought this way, the more her eyes felt sore.

And soon, the car door was opened again.

Chi Yan had a new bottle of mineral water and a towel in his hand as he got into the car.

He moved the obstructing suit aside and threw it to the back seat, then took a towel to wipe the water stains off Shang Lu’s clothes. Afterward, he opened a bottle of mineral water again.

However, this time he didn’t hand it to Shang Lu, but brought it to her lips and said directly, “Open your mouth.”

Shang Lu looked at Chi Yan.

He was back; he hadn’t left.

Shang Lu slightly parted her lips, allowing the water to flow in along her lips, and she swallowed with some effort, easing the dry pain.

Then, she used both hands to hold the bottle, trying to lift it higher to get more water, while Chi Yan still held onto it.

He held the bottle with one hand, while her hand rested gently on the back of his hand.

After taking a few big sips, Shang Lu suddenly choked a bit, hunching over and coughing vigorously.

Chi Yan withdrew his hand, placed the water aside, and his other hand patted her back gently.

Shang Lu felt a bit uncomfortable, but she had finally come back to life. After a moment of recovery, she looked at Chi Yan and nervously asked the question, “Ou Yi… How is he?”

“He’s fine, just some minor external injuries. As a precaution, he underwent a full-body examination at the hospital and is currently awaiting the results,” Chi Yan answered. Seeing Shang Lu looking at him continuously, he added, “I’ll take you to see him.”

“Okay.” Shang Lu nodded quickly, afraid that if she hesitated, Chi Yan might change his mind.

On the way there, Chi Yan could feel Shang Lu glancing at him several times.

So, Chi Yan directly said, “Ask whatever you want to ask.”

“But he had a lot of blood on him, I saw it, a lot of it.” Shang Lu spoke and closed her eyes, trying hard to recall the scene she had witnessed.

But Chi Yan responded : “Rest assured, that blood is all Xia Yuan’s, Ou Yi is really fine, later you can also look at his medical report.”

Upon hearing this, Shang Lu felt as though the heaviest stone in her heart had finally dropped.

Then she fell silent for a few seconds and asked, “And you? You don’t look too good either.”

“I’m even better.” Chi Yan pointed at the blood on his body and laughed, saying, “It’s also Xia Yuan’s.”

Shang Lu indicated her understanding and then asked, “Did you win?”

“I didn’t do anything.” Chi Yan said this as the traffic light turned red, looking at Shang Lu with a helpless shrug, he began explaining the situation at that time.

When he went in, Ou Yi and Xia Yuan were wrestling, but Xia Yuan was at a disadvantage.

As expected.

After Ou Yi punched Xia Yuan on the ground a few times, Xia Yuan gave up resistance and lay on the ground, motionless like a dead fish.

Chi Yan stopped the fight and said directly, “The police should be coming soon, just restrain him.”

However, upon hearing the word ‘police,’ Xia Yuan seemed to go crazy all of a sudden, breaking free from Ou Yi’s grip and rushing towards the empty wall on the other side.

Ou Yi and Chi Yan couldn’t figure out what he was trying to do, so they both went after him, preventing him from escaping.

Other enthusiastic bystanders also gathered around like a human wall, not giving Xia Yuan any chance to leave.

But Xia Yuan wasn’t trying to escape. Instead, he seemed to have gone mad, pounding his fists against the wall, shattering the glass on the fire hydrant box with each punch, as if he couldn’t feel the pain.

He was cursing and insulting Shang Lu, Ou Yi, Jiang Jing, and even his company’s former high-level executives and teammates, as well as his childhood friends and parents.

His frenzied appearance left everyone else too scared to make a sound. Originally, Ou Yi and Chi Yan had no intention of dealing with Xia Yuan; they were content to let him go crazy and wait for the police to arrive. However, he suddenly began to slam his head against the wall.

His forehead was cut open, and blood streamed down. Upon realizing that Xia Yuan had suicidal tendencies, Ou Yi and Chi Yan intervened to prevent him from harming himself. They had to exert quite a bit of effort to restrain him.

Then they realized they had overestimated the situation. Xia Yuan didn’t seem to want to commit suicide; instead, he appeared to be experiencing some kind of hallucination.

He was swearing at the air, kicking the wall with his feet, and using every means to vent his anger as if the people he despised were standing right in front of him.

His body trembled and convulsed, his breathing became rapid, and he seemed to be on the verge of losing consciousness.

Fortunately, the police arrived just in time and took Xia Yuan away.

Chi Yan’s description made Shang Lu feel as if she could see it all happening. In the end, she also let out a sigh of relief.

And when she saw Ou Yi…

Oh no, they first saw Ou Yi’s father returning with water outside the hospital room.

Because the two looked almost 80% similar, with Ou Yi’s father just a bit fatter, Shang Lu could recognize him at a glance.

The moment Ou Yi’s father saw Shang Lu, he broke into a joyful smile, “Are you Teacher Shang Lu? My boy has mentioned you for a long time. I’m his father! You can call me Old Ou! It’s an honor to meet you today! Truly an honor!”

Shang Lu’s hand was shaken as the other person held it and shook it. She managed a faint smile and then asked, “Is Ou Yi inside? Can I go in and see him?”

“Of course, sure, come this way!” Ou Yi’s father said, opening the door.
