Chapter 110

Chapter 110

Kentrail, who was heading from the Palace to the mansion, met the commander of the Charant family’s knights on the way.

“Master.”

“What happened?”

“…I’m ashamed of myself. Caveran went to the mansion—”

Before the knight commander could finish his words, Kentrail rode off. His heart raced like crazy when he knew that the children and Marie were in danger.

‘No…!’

His hands gripping the reins of the horse were clenched so tightly.

Derek, who was running behind him, also looked distorted. The two of them regretted coming so late and rode off on horseback.

While Siege aimed his sword at the commander of the Caveran family knights, Caveran stepped aside and watched the situation. When the commander and Siege got together, a gap was created, so he hurriedly started climbing the stairs.

Then, he shook the attic door.

“Brielle, come out.”

Ellie, who had closed the door after seeing Caveran climb the stairs, was staring at the door with a dagger. Perhaps because it was the attic, the weak door rattled.

‘I’ve been learning self-defense for today. It will be fine.’

Effortlessly comforting herself, Ellie prepared for the time the door was opened. It was her plan that if he knew that she wasn’t Brielle and tried to kill her, she would stab him in the vitals.

The door was hit by someone’s body a few times, it eventually fell off.

“Brielle, how long have I called you?”

When Ellie heard Caveran’s voice, she felt nauseous.

“Though you didn’t answer.”

As he went on, he moved closer and closer to Ellie.

The child took a step back from her. She was taken aback by Caveran’s stature, which was bigger than she thought.

“You’re holding something interesting.”

Saying so, Caveran grinned as he noticed the dagger in Ellie’s hand.

“That doesn’t suit you. You just have to be sent to your uncle as a white corpse.”

‘Who says I will be a white corpse.’

Listening to his words, Ellie grew angry.

She should aim for the time when he came a little closer to her since she had to dig into that body as much as possible. That was what she said to herself. And finally, he reached out to her and tried to rip Ellie’s hood off…

Thud—

However, he bumped into someone and fell, but it wasn’t just one person.

“Brielle.”

A hoarse voice echoed through the attic. Ellie recognized that the voice was from Brielle’s aunt.

“Are you okay?”

She said sadly as she approached her and examined her.

“You’re not Brielle.”

At those words, Ellie quickly turned her head, wondering if Cavran had heard. Fortunately, he didn’t seem to hear.

“You were trying to protect him.”

Knowing what she was doing, Finngrella gave the child a pat on the head and snatched the dagger away.

“Give this to me. It’s something I have to deal with.”

The man, who appeared to be her husband, nodded her head. It seemed that the two of them worked together to push Caveran aside.

As she approached the fallen Caveran, she drew the dagger’s scabbard and lunged at him to stab him. The moment the dagger touched him, the long sword cut her throat. It seemed that Caveran had taken a sword from his arms and had cut Finngrella.

Both suffered sword wounds.

Finngrella’s body fell to the side as she began to bleed profusely. Her husband freaked out and ran immediately. She breathed heavily.

Her husband, Gideon, applied his hand to stop the bleeding.

“It’ll be useless though it’s fortunate that I can go like this. There was one more thing the person tricked us into, saying that if we lived near the dragon’s territory, we would receive protection. Maybe to track our destination…”

“Say no more.”

Gideon eagerly grabbed Fingrella. She shook her head.

“Maybe, that’s not a lie. I prayed that at least Brielle would live. Perhaps divine protection will be granted now, not then? Even though we weren’t able to protect the child directly… I don’t think I’ve ever got my act together until the very end.”

She hoped that her own sacrifice would help Brielle in some way.

When she had finished her words, Finngrella raised her hand and touched her husband’s face. She then turned her eyes to see Ellie, who was pale.

“Thank you for always being by Brielle’s side. You’re better than me…”

After she said that, she closed her eyes as Gideon’s screams filled the attic.

Entering the mansion, Kentrail’s face stiffened. Bodies were seen everywhere.

“Brielle! Marie…!”

He called out loudly for the children and Marie, but no one answered him.

“I hear a sound from above.”

Derek grabbed Kentrail and spoke.

“Yes.”

At that, he two hurriedly climbed up.

The sound got clearer as they approached Kentrail’s bedroom. When they finally reached the floor where his bedroom was, he could see Siege fighting someone in the distance.

Derek drew his sword and ran towards them.

Kentrail also headed toward the attic, searching for Brielle. People were cut by swords and fell, wounded and dead. There were knights everywhere.

Looking at the horrific sight, he just moved on. He just hoped that the children and Marie would be safe as he made his way to the attic with such haste that he forgot to breathe. At that moment, a scream erupted from inside the attic.

When he headed toward the attic, Kentrail’s expression darkened.

“Brielle…!”

Calling the child’s name with all his might, Kentrail ran into the attic.

In front of him was a hooded child, the sword-wounded Caveran trying to get up, a dead Finngrella, and a sobbing Gideon. When the child saw the person rushing in, she fell on the spot as if her knees were getting tired, and he hurried to the child.

Seeing the figure, he recognized that it was Ellie.

“Ellie, are you okay?”

The child’s hands were shaking. He hugged Ellie at once.

“Count…”

“Yes. What about the other children and Marie?”

“Ah…”

Caveran, who was near her, didn’t know that they had left the mansion so Ellie couldn’t say till the end that they were in the kitchen.

“It’s okay because I’m here.”

He patted Ellie and moved closer to Caveran.

“Ha, Kentrail. You’re finally here.”

Kentrail kicked the longsword that Caveran was holding. He then put his foot close to Caveran’s chest as he fell.

“Keugh—”

He screamed, already wounded by the sword.

“Does this hurt? You had made countless holes in other people’s chests?”

As he asked that, Kentrail’s eyes were full of sadness when he said that. All of his family had to pass away because of this man.

That fact hurt him so much.

“I didn’t like your parents from a young age. They were foolish subordinates.”

Kentrail’s foot strength was stronger with his words.

“What was that justification for? They stopped me from doing everything…”

Saying that, Caveran took a deep breath as he went on.

“So is your brother… If he had buried your parents’ deaths as they were, I wouldn’t have killed him. Still, how much did he poke here and there? I couldn’t stand it.”

Hearing that, Kentrail pulled out his sword from his waist.

The King and this man were too much alike. Even in the midst of this, he was only protesting for himself. They were not worth saving. He contemplated treating him and giving Caveran a life sentence, but it seemed he should have to take his life.

Thinking of his parents and older brother, he swung his sword without hesitation.

Marie, Barry, and Brielle rode their horses to Jayden’s mansion. The sound of horseshoes echoed. However, not long after, there was a person blocking his way.

It was Eujes.

“Eujes!”

Brielle, who heard about him, called out to him in a voice filled with anger.

“Young Master.”

He had just been freed by the knights of the Caveran family, who had just invaded. Just like when he had just entered class, he smiled and called out to Brielle.

“Get out of the way.”

Brielle took the reins again and glared at him menacingly.

“You’re a good rider now.”

Not listening to the child’s words, he just kept saying nonsense. Seemingly that was a strategy to pass the time, Barry drew a sword and stepped out. There was no need to talk to such a person anymore.

“Barry, you’ve been rough while I haven’t seen you.”

Marie, who was watching Barry swing his sword, spoke to Eujes.

“Teacher, please get out of the way.”

“Nanny.”

The two eyes’ met. Marie’s kind eyes from before had long since disappeared. Realizing that, Eujes smiled bitterly.

“…I thought we were the same.”

Perhaps, he referred to the brooch that the real Marie had, and for a moment, her heart sank.

“Well, it doesn’t matter now.”

After saying that, he took out a short bow from his pocket and shot it at Brielle as if this was his purpose.

“Master.”

After leaving Brielle, Taylor came up to the attic.

“Taylor. What about Brielle?”

Kentrail, who dropped the sword that cut Caveran on the floor, looked at Taylor and asked.

“I took him to Master Jaden’s house.”

“Did you bring him there yourself?”

“Barry took him.”

“I’ll have to follow them. Please, take care of Ellie.

Turning his gaze as he listened to his master’s words, Taylor, who saw Ellie, widened his eyes. Perhaps the girl had a lot of credit for the sudden rush of the knights of the Caveran family. Hugging her, he felt that he had to take her out of here and bring her to the doctor.

When he hugged her, her body temperature was higher than usual.

“Sir Taylor…?”

“It’s okay, Ellie, it’s over now.”

“What about Siege?”

“He’s all right. He’s with Derek.”

Only then did her whole body loosen up, and she leaned on Taylor.

Blood was splattered all over the road as the sound of panting breathing filled the space.

Kentrail hurriedly mounted the horse and went in search of Brielle. He got off his horse, exhausted. Not too far away, he could see Barry hugging someone and crying. Beside him, Eujes was lying on the floor, perhaps he had been cut.

Barry must have hurriedly pulled out the bow from the short bow as the bow was on the floor, and an unknown piece of clothing was wrapped around the wound.

As he moved closer to them, Barry could hear Kentrail’s footsteps and he glanced up at him.

“No. No…!”

Kentrail fell on his knees on the ground. Then, he moved the person in Barry’s arms.
